Morrowind Yet Again :)

Morrowind Yet Again :) - 04/11/12 11:56 PM

Okay, I think this is my second full time around (played it halfway once, fully once before) and now that I've put so much time into Skyrim, I'm ready for a serious break and Morrowind seems perfect for it. smile

I'm having so much fun all over again, and making myself SLOW DOWN and join only one faction at a time so I can concentrate on those quests only and not have a journal full of five different faction quests that overwhelm me! LOL I think that's why I stopped playing the first time around.

Anyway just having fun and wanted to post about it. This time I'm playing a Breton instead of a Dunmer, and I'm interested to see if anything changes like the way people treat my character, etc. So far they just call me "Breton", but some Dunmer call me "muthsera" which I always thought was a word that meant you were recognizing another Dunmer while speaking. (must be off base on that one! lol)

btw---I'm doing quests for the Hhaalhu (sp?) House and just discovered this time around that I can taunt people into striking me first so that I'm allowed to kill them w/out getting in trouble. I did feel a tiny bit quilty when I killed that Cammona Tong guy because I'd raised his dispostion then taunted him and he was like, "What are you saying? I thought we were friends!" Since he's a murderer I won't feel guilty long (lol) but it did feel a little weird at the time.

Which brings up a question.....how many of you have those kinds of feelings when you kill characters? I guess this applies to all games really, but for some reason it bothers me more in Morrowind than in say, Skyrim. (I have no idea why)

Thanks for letting me ramble---time to walk the doggie and make dinner and THEN hopefully more Morrowind! Wish me luck. wink

Tracy, so glad you are having fun with Morrowind again. I always feel badly when I do something in a game that I wouldn't do in real life. I must have separation issues. lol

Thanks Looney. I just can't get over how much fun that game is every time I get back into it again. I don't feel bored because I know what's going to happen, or anything like that. There's always a special "newness" about it for me and I'm not sure why----guess I won't question it I'll just enjoy it! smile

Morrowind !! A brilliant game. And one of which I will never tire. I love it !! lol

I have to admit to having no qualms about killing baddies in ANY game. It's a game !! And I am more than old enough now not to be affected by anything a game involves laugh

Re: Morrowind Yet Again :) - 04/12/12 04:06 PM

Tracy, there was a time when, in any RPG, I felt bad about killing anyone who hadn't attacked me first. I was content with concentrating on mere thieving.

Then I discovered the Assassin's Guild in Oblivion. evil

It's been downhill ever since. Now the Assassins are the first Guild I look for in any game, if there is an equivalent guild.

Mad---you go girl. I'm at the ripe old age of 42 but feel about 10-15 years younger, so maybe I need to catch up and then I won't feel so guilty! LOL

Hagatha--I know what you mean. I loved the Dark Brotherhood in Oblvion (especially after installing a few mods that made it more interesting and longer-lasting) and so I'm on the lookout for that kind of thing now too. It IS fun being bad sometimes, isn't it? LOL

Well then, to get to my time of life, you have a heck of a lot of catching up to do lol lol

Re: Morrowind Yet Again :) - 04/14/12 12:18 AM

LOL! Okay I guess it's not "old" per se, but it's the oldest I've ever been so it's freaking me out. I think I've been having a little mid-life crisis for the past two years and I hope that it stops soon!

Meanwhile, I love that my game character look younger than I actually AM so I can pretend to be in my twenties or thirties again. LOL

Re: Morrowind Yet Again :) - 04/14/12 08:36 PM

42?

For those of you old enough to remember The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, 42 is the Meaning of Life.

It's also a good age to be. At 42 I felt in control and old enough to be wise without having lost either my looks or my enthusiasm for new things.

'course, that was along time ago. Now my best day consists of not finding any new age spots. grin

Thanks for your post Hagatha. I feel better already! smile

EDIT: 4/19/2012

Hi again everyone. I have a question so I thought I'd edit my post. I'm doing the House Hlaalu quests and have gone to Cassius Curio for Advancement, but can't seem to get beyond Kinsman. He's told me that I need to brush up on my skills, and so I've gone around to the trainers in the Hlaalu canton and "bought" training in each subject until it won't allow me to go any further, but when I go to Crassius he still says I need to update my skills. Just wondering if someone could tell me how they advanced and if I'm doing something wrong?

Thanks so much!
Tracy, who already took off her clothes for the man! (you'd think that would be enough! LOL LOL)

Tracy I haven't played Morrowind, but there is a listing of quests with directions On This Page. You might see something you missed that will help you move on. luck

Re: Morrowind Yet Again :) - 04/29/12 02:08 AM

Thanks Looney-got it!

And, now I have a new problem. LOL Even though I know I've done this part before, I can't seem to find Shishi for the life of me. (part of Aryon's Telvanni quests) I've looked at several walkthroughs on the net and spent about 2 hours looking around in the area where it's supposed to be, but I still haven't found it. SIGH

If anyone could guide me I'd really REALLY appreciate it! smile

Thanks so much,
Tracy

Re: Morrowind Yet Again :) - 04/29/12 02:57 AM

There is a link to a rudimentary map on This page . It seemed to have some sort of coords on it, but it didn't mean anything to me. Have you looked at it?

There is also video about looking for ShiShi Here . I couldn't watch it because my new computer needs to have flash installed (maybe) but it might spark a memory for you.

I also found a reference on the net to N6.4, W5.5...not sure if that helps either.

I found these instructions
Quote:
Shishi is north of Maar Gan.
If you follow the Foyoda Bani-dad northwest, the entrance will appear
directly in front of you.
in this walkthrough Here

Re: Morrowind Yet Again :) - 04/29/12 03:24 AM

There's a really well detailed map for the whole of Morrowind HERE

I find it very useful for finding some of the more obscure awkward spots because of being able to zoom in grin

Re: Morrowind Yet Again :) - 05/01/12 08:43 PM

Hi everyone. Thanks for all of your help--yes I finally found it! Whew! Of course, now I have alot of other places to find and they all seem difficult for some reason. LOL Wish we could just click on something on our maps and immediately transport ourselves there---that would be so much easier than roaming around trying to find stuff on foot, or levitating and looking around each mountain. LOL

Thanks again,
Tracy

Re: Morrowind Yet Again :) - 05/01/12 11:19 PM

Tracy, that map I linked to should allow you to search for places. I'd used it years ago and forgot about it, but it can be a life saver, or at least a frayed-nerve saver.

Re: Morrowind Yet Again :) - 05/02/12 11:11 PM

Looney and Mad---Me too! I live in Colorado but all of my family is back east and so I'd love a teleporter for RL so I could zoom back and forth without having to deal with flying. UGH! wink

Thanks Hagatha btw---this IS a really good map and it's just what I needed. smile

Re: Morrowind Yet Again :) - 05/03/12 07:52 PM

I have to confess to having maps for Morrowind from at least seven different sites - all of which offer something slightly different - because my sense of direction is absolutely NIL.

In real life too !! lol lol

Re: Morrowind Yet Again :) - 05/04/12 12:36 AM

I do like getting lost in Morrowind, though. It's part of the game's charm, especially up north when the dust rises. You can end up a very long way from where you thought you were going - and that's how I usually find those remote dungeons.

By the way, I just checked and the lowest Morrowind speed run I could find on YouTube was about 4 minutes! Very amusing when I think about those hundreds of hours I've spent travelling the highways and byways.

Re: Morrowind Yet Again :) - 05/04/12 02:00 PM

Hagatha, speedrun for what?
Posted By: Mad

Re: Morrowind Yet Again :) - 05/04/12 05:28 PM

I, too, can get lost for hours when trying to find a oarticular place - but I enjoy the sightseeing along the way it and it does all goes towards "experience" in the long run lol

And I, too, wonder what this "speedrun" is, Hagatha think

Re: Morrowind Yet Again :) - 05/04/12 09:36 PM

sigh. That's one of my favorite things about this game--wandering forever and getting lost, only to find something neat that I wasn't even looking for! smile I have to say, event though I liked Skyrim, I never felt that way while wandering because I was just waiting for spiders to grab me when I entered a cave! UGH!

Hi again guys. I just HAD to post because I'm so excited! I am playing Bloodmoon for the first time---I finally got it to work! Yahoo! I can't tell you how fun it is to be in a new place with new sights and new dialogs, new clothing, new enemies, etc. etc. It's just awesome and I'm going to be forever grateful to the guy on the internet who was telling people how to get this expansion running if they have Windows 7----"Run as administrator". It really has worked and so I wanted to tell you guys. smile

Tracy, off to Solstheim again, hoping to play til hubby gets home from work! lol

Woo Hoo Tracy, so glad you got it to work. Did you have to jump through mega hoops?

Re: Morrowind Yet Again :) - 05/19/12 05:43 PM

Hi Looney! Well I poked around the net for ages and I finally found a site with a forum for Morrowind issues and the guy mentioned that he got Bloodmoon to run on Windows 7 by running it as an administrator. So I installed Bloodmoon and then closed out of it, right clicked on the icon for Morrowind and clicked "run as administrator", then the screen with all of the info like Play, Exit, etc. came up but this time with a snowy-looking Bloodmoon background! I was so psyched! The only problem is that I didn't run my old Morrowind game as an administrator, so I had to start this game as a total newbie.

Still it's worth it to get to see new places and new characters, and to have new quests! I'm so tickled and I really like Solstheim....soon I'm going to have to look for house mods for it so I can find a good warm place to snuggle up in when it snows. lol
