On The Harbinger, Koroshi has completed sith inquisitor chapter 3 gaining the title "Darth" and theoretically the new name Imperious (light side). Dark side inquisitor is "renamed" Darth Nox. The names will come up rarely in dialogue.

On Jedi Covenant, Antohn has reached level 65, first character on that server to do so.

Haven't been posting because I haven't been playing, been binging on casual games.

Knights of the Fallen Empire Chapter 10 sneak peek starts today, as soon as they're done updating. For those who didn't subscribe early enough the chapter begins the 11th.

Also the plague is back, on Corellia this time.

I probably won't actually get into chapter 9 until later this evening after work.

Among the changes in update:
Chapter X
Alert to get Blizz (may not start until 11th)
Alert to get HK-51
Alert to get Dr Lokin no longer requires Alert to get Qyzen before it appears,, instead requires completing chapter IX.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 02/10/16 04:57 AM

Oops, you're right.

Apparently as we get new chapters the old ones fall off the official page.

Quest to reclaim HK-55 is funny. I wonder if those decisions on who he can terminate really matters later. Course my light side jedi knight had restrictions. My dark side sith won't. Blizz quest comes after chapter X. There's another "alert" that's currently broken.
Posted By: misslilo

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 02/10/16 09:09 AM

I have 2 alerts broken after I got Blizz.
Very anoying.
Posted By: GuybrushThreepwood

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 02/10/16 10:21 AM

I had one broken before Blizz and got the second after.

Interesting thing is, if you look under companions in legacy you'll see a jedi consular companion is coming soon. But neither of those broken alerts is his. So they're so broken even the achievements for unlocking the companions don't show up. Several people have said in swtor.com forum's that one of those alerts was disabled because it actually crashed the system.

Click to reveal..
Zenith. jedi consular companion in "Deep Strike" alert.
Presumably though have to finish the two currently not working alerts to get this one.

Also although no acheivments currently visible for him, that "jedi man" in the Blizz quest had a very familiar voice, if you've played smuggler. Perhaps his alert is one of the broken ones.

Guss Tuno

Kaliyo has ran away. I can't find her anywhere on base. (Yes I can summon her as companion). Every other companion character is standing or sitting in the case of Niko, somewhere on the base. M14X (or Major Pierce on Imperial side) is alone by PVP and Operations terminals. Ship's droids near the cantina. All other companions are scattered around in the war room or the areas around it.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 02/10/16 11:40 AM

There are 3 achievements for HK55 quest. One is hidden.
1 you get for just completing the mission
2 you have to target 8 extra items he doesn't ask about, including himself and yourself
3 you have to go in with another player and have them have their hk55 target you, you will die and get achievement
I haven't done 2 or 3 yet but apparently 3 doesn't work if you're alone if your with someone else who's doing the quest then it works

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 02/11/16 08:38 PM

Small update to fix bugs removed the two alerts, which I guess validates the rumors that they were chapter 11 alerts sent too early. Legacy still shows two possible achievements for a companion there is currently no alert for. And the alert title is not one of the two that we got by mistake,

Kaliyo who returns in Chapter 10 is first female romancable companion to return. Male imperial agent could have married her.
Blizz who returns after chapter 10 is completed is first bounty hunter companion to return. Leaving smuggler only class to not have a companion return, yet. Although there is a teaser suggesting a return probably during or after chapter 11. Aric who returns in Chapter 11 is first male romanceable companion to return. Female republic trooper could have married him.

No spoilers but in chapter 10 choices finally matter. At least dark side ones finally catch up with you.

There's one former trooper companion early on who declines to join your alliance. My guess is because the original voice actor died. There are a couple former companions you can reject, both imperial. A future returning companion on the republic side actually has the option to reject you instead of you rejecting him. So choices will matter again.

It still bugs me that the first words out of my characters mouth when regaining a former companion isn't "where are the rest of my crew?"

How Bioware Created Class Stories part 1 The Republic - no spoilers

Did some searching for credits:

Player character voice actors:

Jedi Knight:
male voice: David Hayter
female voice: Kari Wahlgren
(both American)

Jedi Consular:
male voice: Nolan North
female voice: Athena Karkanis
(one American, one Canadian)

Trooper:
male voice: Brian Bloom
female voice: Jennifer Hale (also Satele Shan head of Jedi Order)
(one American, one Canadian)

Smuggler:
male voice: Maury Sterling
female voice: Kath Soucie
(both American)

Sith Warrior:
male voice: Mark Bazeley
female voice: Natasha Little
(both English)

Sith Inquisitor:
male voice: Euan Morton
female voice: Xanthe Elbrick
(both Scotish)

Bounty Hunter:
male voice: Tom Spackman
female voice: Grey DeLisle
(both American)

Imperial Agent:
male voice: Bertie Carvel
female voice: Jo Wyatt
(both English)

Imperial NPCs tend to sound like they came from the UK. Having bounty hunters voiced by Americans is an oddity. Guess its to show they're outsiders. Bounty Hunters don't consider themselves part of the empire, they just work for imperials because the republic doesn't usually put bounties on people

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 03/08/16 09:29 PM

They should call early access "beta testing". Chapter XI:Disavowed is currently bugged. Minor glitch: Aric Jorgan appears in his underwear and rifle he's supposed to be firing is invisible. Major glitch: after talking two him a second time, he's supposed to replace Theron as your active companion but instead both characters vanish. Jorgan does not appear in your companion list so you cannot summon him. You can only leave the phase and reset mission, staring ovwr and hoping second time works.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 03/21/16 01:37 AM

Visions in the Dark teaser - seems Vitiate aka Valkorian doesn't like the way your character is handling the problem of the Eternal Empire and decided to bother you with more visions

I hope there is something for non-force users. The web page talks ahout making a weapon designed by forcer users. And the video teaser shows jedi player. Most of the classes are no in fact force sensative. Imperial Agent, Bounty Hunter, Trooper and Smuggler have no use for a lightsaber.

OFF TOPIC:
Remember that Wildstar game I beta tested and decided it was too difficult, well seems its dying. Apparently they let go most of their staff and have canceled plans for taking the game into China.

Haven't been playing lately so missed early access to next chapter. It goes public tomorrow. It includes new PVP arenas, not my thing.
In May Chapter XIII: Profit and Plunder with feature Vette (Sith Warrior companion) and Gault (Bounty Hunter companion) who have apparently become a team after their respective bosses vanished. Vette could be romanced by male sith warriors before starting Knights.

I'm in the process of downloading previous update which is good because tomorrow there will be another one, while listening to Merle Haggard songs.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 04/07/16 09:47 PM

Played Visions in the Dark on jedi knight. The entire Knights of the Fallen Empire story really only makes sense for jedi and sith. This espcially true of Visions in the Dark. Agents, Bounty Hunters, Smugglers and Troopers are not force sensitive and all the talk about the Force in this chapter doesn't apply to them. Most of my non force users haven't even finished chapter X yet. I do have an agent who is up to chapter XI. It will interesting to see her reaction to chapter XII, all that Force talk would bore her.

Oh after completing Chapter XII you get an alert, side quest. Its funny after all the talk in the main quest about having to adapt to the new reality, jedi maybe having to accept sith tactics, sith maybe having to adopt jedi attitudes, the side quest depends on your knowledge of the sith code. Anyway, my jedi knight rejected the new possible companion, not a returning one a new one. Had to it was only light side option and despite main quests trying to turn jedi and sith into gray force users, he's a jedi not going to make darkside choices.

Before the chapter 12 update there was am acheivment for completing this alert under jedi consular companion Zenith. The update removed it. So it would seam that they had originally planned to bring Zenith back in this quest instead of a new character. Now achievements for the new character, including rejecting him. Rejecting a character is always worth more points than keeping him/her. But of course accepting new characters improves your alliance, rejecting them doesn't.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 04/08/16 04:07 AM

Annoys me, if you're a male trooper doing chapter X, Aric Jorgan mentions Elera who you might have married, but you don't ask him what happened to her after you were declared KIA (killed in action) and he was made CO of Havoc Squad over her.

I'm having internet issues. Tuesday it was a bug on SWTOR servers that kept the game from updating for some people, including me. They fixed it but now I'm having problems with my ISP. I keep getting dropped from the internet.

Its also double experience week which would be a good time to take my level 50s characters to Makeb (even though I don't like it) to level them up, but I wouldn't get far before being dropped out of the game.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 05/17/16 05:48 PM

Characters created at level 1 and played through rest of game into Knights of the Fallen Empire will receive their old companions back during Knights with the Influence level they were at when they lost them. Companions from other classes will join at either level 1 or 10. The ones which join as part of a chapter will be at level 1, the ones you have to earn by completing some task (10 rounds of pvp, beating world bosses, fighting champions in arena) will be at level 10.

Characters created at level 60 just for Knights of the Fallen Empire will receive all companions including their class ones at level 1 or 10.

The companions that require completing special tasks, 10 rounds pvp, kill world bosses, kill champions in arena, for characters played through the whole game will if at Influence 10 when you lost them will be at level 10 when you meet them again and will automatically follow you. So for example if you have a trooper that had M1-4X at 10 Influence or higher then M1-4X will follow your trooper without you having to play PVP. Same for sith warriors and Major Pierce (formerly Lt.). A trooper or sith warrior created at level 60 will have to play PVP. Same rules apply to jedi consular and Qyzen Fees with world bosses and smuggler with Bowder and fighting champions.

After you gotten both Kaliyo and Aric Jorgan depending on your reaction to a mission they go on together and fail they may be forgiven no punishment, or both assigned to maintenance as punishment or you can banish Jorgan or you can banish Kaliyo or you can if darkside execute one of them. Jorgan's death is particularly sad if you married him. Kaliyo doesn't even pretend she ever loved you. All the options are viewable on Youtube. I would think banishing Kaliyo would be a bad move, she's the vengeance seeking type. Jorgan is honorable and wouldn't betray you.

Apparently to kill one you have to at start of chapter 12 send the one you want to keep alive on the mission. Then tell the other one to stay put. That sets them up to disobey you and earn your wrath. You can only banish or kill the one who disobeys you. You can of course forgive both or punish both with maintenance duty.

You can also find Gault's reaction to bounty hunter, him mentioning Mako and if your bh is female and romanced Torian you cn ask about him.
If youre a sith warrior and romanced Vettte she will be glad to see you, if you didn't or you're female she may not be happy to see you.

I just found out the letter you get from romanced companion depends on wether you told them to flee or defend Marr's ship. So to see them all you'll have to do KOFE on each class twice and make both choices. Plus two characters who romance Theron and two who romanced Lana but not class companions.

Violanthe has completed jedi consular chapter 1.
Sapphirre has completed imperial agents chapters 1 and 2.
Casami (LS Bounty Hunter) has completed Shadow of Revan and Rise of the Emperor
Straker completed sith warrior chapter 2.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 05/23/16 03:41 AM

Since I started playing this game its gone through lots of changes. I think the biggest is the way companions function. Before Knights of the Fallen Empire there were only two companions which shared the same skills, Republic ship's droid C2-N2 and Empire ship's droid 2V-R8, had the same skills. They were okay but not great healers. Forty-two other companions had unique skill sets. Each of the 8 player classes had 5 class companions + 1 of the ship's droids. There were two optional companions HK-51 and Treek. Hk-51 was unique in that he had two primary attributes (Aim and Cunning) other other companions and player characters had 1 primary attribute each (Aim or Cunning, or Strength or Wisdom). Knights of the Fallen Empire replaced Aim, Cunning, Strength and Wisdom with Mastery, one attribute for all player classes and all companions. So HK-51 lost his unique attribute system. Treek was unique in that she was Tank/Healer no dps only mode. And she was best at both.

Before Knights each class had 1 healer/dps companion, 1 melee tank/dps, 1 ranged tank/dps, 1 melee dps only, 1 ranged dps + the healer ship's droid. Optional companion HK-51 was dps with two modes. Knights gave all companions the ability to be set to tank or healer, or dps. The default is healer. And the unique skills are gone. Vector still talks about releasing kilik pheromones but doesn't actually do it. Dr. Lokin no longer becomes a raghoul for dps mode. Now all melee companions have the same tank, healing and dps skills. All ranged companions have same tank, healing and dps skills. Comanions are now just different skins since they all do the same things the same way.

Before Knights each companion was better at different gathering and crafting skills. Knights changed it so companions skill at gathering and crafting is determined by their influence level.

Before Knights companion's tanking, healing and damage dealing skills were improved by improving their armor and weapons. Now armor and weapons are purely cosmetic for companions. Pre-Knights companions still have changeable armor pieces so you can change their appearance by changing their armor. This not apply to droids. Droids used to have droid parts in place of armor but changing the droid parts had no effect on appearance. Droid parts no longer exist. Now companion skills increase as your character levels and as you influence increases. The new companions introduced in Kights of the Fallen Empire do not even have armor slots, so you cannot change their appearance that way. You have to have a companion appearance modifier and as yet I haven't seen any for the new companions, though the characters do have a slot for them.

Influence used to be Affection and if companions disapproved of your words or actions your affection could decrees, some times dramatically. Now if a companion is disappointed in you instead of getting negative affection reducing the total your companion just gets a smaller increase in influence than if they approved of your words and deeds.

You class companions, HK-51 and Treek will as you progress through the game want to talk with you, sometimes in cantina or stronghold and sometimes in your starship. So far new companions do not do that. Makes them less interesting. frown

Romanceable companions (so far):

male jedi knight: Kira Carsen
female Jedi knight "Doc"

male jedi consular: Nadia Grell
female jedi consular: Tharan Cedrax (but breaks it off)
female jedi consular: Lieutenant Felix Iresso

male trooper: Elara Dorne
female trooper: Aric Jorgan

male smuggler: Risha
male smuggler: Akaavi Spar
female smuggler Corso Riggs

male sith warrior: Vette
male sith warrior: Jaesa Willsaam (dark side character)
female sith warrior: Malavai Quinn
female sith warrior: Lieutenant Pierce (one night stand)

male sith inquisitor: Ashara Zavros
female sith inquisitor: Andronikos Revel
female sith inquisitor: Talos Drellik (once, thinks you're joking)

male imperial agent: Kaliyo D'jannis
male imperial agent: Ensign Raina Temple
female imperial agent: Vector Hyllus

male bounty hunter: Mako
female bounty hunter: Torian Cadera

all classes, both genders:
Lana Beniko (Shadow of Revan, Knights of Fallen Empire)
Theron Shan (Shadow of Revan, Knights of Fallen Empire)
Koth Vortena (Knights of Fallen Empire)

Characters that can romance more than one companion will be forced to to chose one at some point.

Knights of the Fallen Empire allows for abandoing a romance when you reunite with old companions.

There are many other characters that can be temporarily romanced, no marriages with them.

I actually like this new system better. razz
It was a HUGE tedious task to keep companions geared with you.
The cost of gearing up was always 5 doubled, bc of the numbers of comps on each character!

The only thing I miss on Knights - is being able to dress the new companions.

Mandalore's Revenge (June 3rd) will introduce the new planet Darvannis.

There's a new weapon's slot Tuning. Its purely cosmetic. Not every weapon has the slot. If your weapon does you still have to get a Weapon Tuning object. Right now the only one known to exist is Lightning Weapon Tuning from Cartel Plunder Pack. Presumable more will follow. I just noticed my agents who carry bowcasters have a Tuning slot. I do not have the Lighting Tunning. Most items from cartel packs can be sold in the Galactic Trade Network (after the bound to buyer wears off). Lowest price on galactic trade network (on The Harbinger server) is 14,499,999. If I added all my characters credits together I still wouldn't any anything near that.

I miss companions wanting to chat in private, As you play your class story your 5 class companions and the two optinal ones, HK-51 and Treek, will want to talk to you in private from time to time. If they just say in private then they will talk in cantinas, the fleet, strongholds and your space ship. If they say on ship then they will only chat on the ship. The new companions starting with Nico Okarr that subscribers who subscribed before Knights of the Fallen empire got, only talk during cut scenes. They never ask to talk in private or on your ship. They're like the ship's droids in that regard. So far even the new romanceable companions Lana Beniko, Theron Shan, Koth Vortena don't ask to chat outside of cut scenes.

On The Shadowland light side smugger got Dr. Lokin to join her alliance.
On The Harbinger dark side jedi knightg rejected Dr. Lokin.

The first time you gain Dr. Lokin you get a 10 point achievement.
The first time you reject Dr. Lokin you get a hidden 50 point achievement.

To reject him you have to do all the same things you do to gain in, except your make the darkside choice to threaten him when you first meet and after you collected all the medical stuff he wants and do the quest you can only do doring raghoul event when asked where he should go instead of pikcing "To Odessen" (which would have him join your alliance_ you choose "To hell" (didn't know they believed in that in this galaxy) and he leaves threatening you if you meet again.

This update nerfs sage and sorcerer healing and sorcerer aoe damage. There goes my sorcerer healer. Bounty hunter pyrotech attacks have had ranges reduced to make them the short range fighers they were supposed to be. Mercanries with the same skills get the range back as they're supposed to be long range fighters.

First part of Chapte XIV has a bonus to collect mandalorian supplies, if you do it you gain 3 extra skills, one to summon a mandalorian warrior to fight along with your and Torian (former bounty hunter companion, possible husband to female bh), one to fire a missile at walkers and one to launch a emp grenade. Last has a limited use but can be recharged back at the mandalorian base. The missle used for bonus to destroy 3 walkers.

Part two has a bonus to collect data from various terminals.

Part three bonus is to destroy droids or shut down factory lines, I couldn't find the the way to shut down lines and only certain droids couned, but I eventually got the required 10.

After Chapter XIV there is one alert, "The Last of His Kind", which takes you to Alderaan looking for a missing republic senator, a wookie.
What you find is
Click to reveal..
Broonmark, former sith warrior companion. He's insane talz and even picking light side option i was forced to kill him in combat. The wookie senator says I can call on him for support. Presumbably you could go dark side and kill the wookie then Broonmark would join your alliance. The talz are normally republic supporters, Broonmark was always a maverick and he thinks he's the last true talz because he's not peacful.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 06/03/16 05:02 AM

Once upon a time there were 40 class companions (5 for 8 classes) +2 ship droids, for a total of 42 companions. Back then max level was 50. To give level 50 characters something to shot for a new companion HK-51 (Hunter Killer droid #51) was added, obtained through a series of quests, two flash points and a multiple planet scavenger hut. Bringing the totel number of companions to 43. Then they added Treek a companion unlocked through purchase with Cartel Coins. Bringing the total number of companions to 44. Next came an Akk Dog companion available in in the Underworld Alliance Pack, which cost Cartel Coins to purchase. This was only the first of the pack companions. The packs would alternate, one having animal companion, one having droid. As of now there are 4 animal companions: Akk Dog, Nexu (SW version of a tiger), Ginx (sort of a giant frog), K'lorslug Soldier (an insect) and 4 droid companions: Probe Droid, Personal Warbot, QQ7 (armed with 2 blaster pistols), Annilator T4-1D. There are 3 more packs coming in the future, so there could be another animal and another droid companion.

So that's 52 companions. But they're not done. Those of us who were subscribed before Knights of the Fallen Empire came out received an additional free companion, Nico Okaar (53). Those of us who got Nico can summon him before playing Knights or wait and complete an Alert to gain him as part of Knights. Not counting Nick, So far, Knights adds 11 new companions, 12 if you count Darth Marr but he's temporary.
If I've done the math right that's 64 or 65 possible companions total at this point.

Of the 40 original class companions there (if I counted right) 15 are currently recrutitable to your alliance. One, Tanno Vik, former trooper companion will not join you. You can either leave him alone or kill him. 6 class companions join you as a result of completing chapters. Depending on your actions you may later banish or execute one of them. 9 class companions are gained through secondary quests called Alerts. There are actually so far 16 former companions showing up in Knights, but Major Pierce only appears to Empire characters and M1-4X only appears for Republic characters, so its 15 an individual character can gain. So 24 companions are still lost. There are two more chapters so a few more will probably be found yet. But i doubt all 24 will be found this year.

Of the romanceable class companions only 4 are currently returned during Knights: 1 for male agent, 1 for female trooper, 1 for male sith warrior and 1 for female bounty hunter. Of those trooper and agent have the potential to end the romance by executing their spouse (ouch).

So female agent, male trooper, female warrior, male bounty hunter, both jedi knights, both jedi consulars, both sith inquisitors, both smugglers are still missing their potential spouses.

Three new companions are currently romanceble: Lana Beniko, Theron Shan, Koth Vortena. Senya Tirall for story reasons is not currently romancable.

Supposedly a former romanced companion will know if you romance a new companion and react accordingly.

Too many dark side actions will actually cause Koth Vortena to get mad and leave your alliance.
Some of the former class companions can be rejected either by arrest or execution. You can just tell Dr. Lokin to "go to hell". Rejecting a companion gives more achievement points but cost you alliance points.

During chapter 2 of Knights of the Fallen Empire you'll get mail from the class companion you romanced. They send it not knowing if you'll ever receive it because they don't know whats happened to you. If you did not romance a class companion but romanced Theron Shan during Shadow of Revan and Rise of the Emperor instead then you'll get a message from him in which he states that he knows what happened to you because Lana Beniko told him. So far it appears if you romanced Lana Beniko she does not send you mail, probably because she knows your frozen in carbonite and couldn't read it.

Took female trooper to Knights. Noticed her voice sometimes sounds like its supposed to and sometimes sounds like Satele Shan, head of the Jedi Order. Turns out same voice actress. My guess is the recorded the dialogue at different times and mixed up which character she was supposed to be. Which makes trooper romancing Theran Shan very strange. Since same person is playing his mother and the trooper.

Jedi Consular companion Zenith apparently has same voice actor as Theran Shan because they sound the same. Might be interesting when they eventually meet. Zenith not in Knights yet.

Oh no, the Dark vs Light event which begins June 28th requires creating a new level one character and playing its chapters, shadow of revan and knights. I wish I had known that before, I just took 2 new characters to Knights. Had I known I would have waited. (1 romanced Lana, 1 Theron).

Dark vs Light Even
Dark vs Light Rewards Blog

Great even for new people but not us old timers. I've already done most of the stuff on the lists, and when asked developers said its NOT retroactive, not counting past achievements. So no way I would reach Legendary, I'm not making 8 more new characters. Plus I don't like PVP. I could MAYBE reach Valiant Level which requires only 1 new character and no PVP but thats only half the way and doesn't get the new companion. That requires lots of PVP, winning 5 rounds of Eternal Championship and getting two characters from level 1 to 65, one republic and one empire. I can't even win 2 rounds of the championship and I have no desire to play 50 rounds of PVP.

And the end of the event those who completed at lest Eternal Level will receive one of two new companions. depending on wether more players in the event went darkside or lightside. The merciless Darth Hexid Companion or the courageous Master Ranos Companion. Based on the picture, one is a blue skinned, blue haired female chiss dressed in white the other is a red skinned female zabrak dressed in dark armor. A chiss jedi is unusual as chiss usually allied with the empire.

Turns out getting Valor 5 only requires two rounds of PVP and if you get the intro to pvp quest and the daily pvp quest you'll gain 5-6 levels. Got to level 19 and still haven't finished first planet, Have to ooto work now when I get back I'll finish first plant sith warrior quests to get Vette companion.

You don't have to wait until you complete the first levels of the vent to work on later levels. You can get Valor 5 which is needed for Champion without having completed the previous levels. I did and I haven't even got first level of the event yet. That's reaching level 25.

Getting Dipolomacy companion mission will add to your ds or ls for gainting titles but does not count toward the event. Only conversation choices count.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 06/29/16 06:26 AM

Took a break from Dark vs Light to do Knights of the Fallen Empire chapter 15, unfortunately the ending was just what I expected. I just hope that now that we have a second foe we don't actually team up with Arcaan. That would be so disappointing.

There is one point in chapter 15 where you make a lightside, neutral or darkside choice. Near the end you will make another two choice which no matter which you make will result in one of your companions being unhappy. Your choice determines whether its republic member, sith empire member or eternal empire companion who is mad. I upset Senya who accused me of saving the people from the world's I knew at the cost of people from her's. Which is actually true on my part.

No official word as to what follows the end of Knights of the Fallen Empire although some MMORPG sites claim the next title is "Knights of the Eternal Throne". All developers have said is that more is to come.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 07/01/16 03:33 AM

Tai'kou has completed Dark vs. Light Legacy (reaching level 50, complete 3 specific flash points).

Chapter XVI: The Battle of Odessen
Early Access on July 26th
Face Arcann in deadly combat as he launches an all-out assault against the Alliance base on Odessen!

The event armor reward which grants bonuses to xp is unusual in that does not have an armoring slot but does have slots for mod and enhancements. Its built in armor rating, mystery and edurance is very good but still not as good as armor Tai'kou has gotten from flashpoints. So he passed the 3 pieces he's gotten so far to another lower level character and even with out mod or enhancement it will be better than what they have because its built in armor, mastery and endurance is so high.I think thats the point. Its to help your next event character give it a head start, not so much your first one which is level 50 when you start gettng the armor. Once you put a mod or enhancement on that only a character at the level of the mod or enhancement can use the armor piece.

For some parts of the event acheivments I need a republic character so Egreess the smuggler is handling that. Egreess is a misspelling of Egress meaning exit. Once she's accomplished her side of the achievements she will exit the game, ie be deleted. If I was going for Legendary I would have to make 7 more disposable characters. But I'll be happy if I can complete Eternal and get which ever companion is availble at end of the event. They still haven't given an end date, but mu guess is December 31st.

The Dark Vs Light packs randomly give armor pieces, weapons, crystals. I was annoyed at getting a commando blaster cannon until I found out weapons your character cant use automatically added to your collection so you can transfer a copy to a character that can use it. Crystals you have to equip on a weapon then the crystal is added to collection. Armor you have to get the complete set. I'm just the belt away from a particular sith armor set. What the odds of getting it are I don't known. I've gotten half of another set and bits and pieces of several more.

When I used to play Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 I tried to figure out what songs would make good theme songs for my characters. Last night at work, bored out of my skull, it suddenly came to me what the perfect theme song is for a lightside sith is.

Turns out every new character I summon Nico on counts as an Alert. So even without having started KOTFE I have two Alerts counted because Tai'kou and Egreess both summoned him. I'll still do five real alerts eventually.

Doing all the tactical flash points and two rounds of PVP got Tai'kou to level 54 without even completing the first sith warrior chapter.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 07/09/16 05:34 PM

Tai'kou has completed Valiant Level for the Dark vs. Light event. Reached level 65. Completed sith warrior chapters 1-3, Shadow of Revan, Rise of the Emperor, Knights of the Fallen Empire chapters 1-9. For Champion just needs to complete chpters 10-16. Sixteen isn't available until end of the month. For Eternal still working on getting Egreess to level 65. Then will still need round 5 of Eternal Champion. Haven't started that yet.

During chapter 9 of Knights of the Fallen Empire there s a cut scene in a catina, featuring your character, Lana Beniko, Theron Shan, Koth Vortena and Senya Tirall. If you have Nico Okarr, Treek or HK-51 they make brief appearances. Tai'kou has all three. So he got Nico saying "I'll drink to that", Treek leaving because there is nothing to hunt and Tora confusing HK-51 with HK-55. HK-51 doesn't know what a "meatbag" is.

Egreess reached level 65, needed for Eternal. With some difficulty Tai'kou finished round 5 of Eternal Champion. So when he completes all the Knights of the Fallen Empire chapters that will complete Champion and Eternal levels. Thats enough to get the new companion.

If you do it Solo make sure to only get the last boss in fire ONE time to lower shield, after that do NOT pull him into fire again and kill him that way or it won't register.

Dark Vs. Light Packs in the Cartel Market | 07.12.2016, 10:06 AM
Hey folks,

I wanted to let you know that later on today we will be introducing the Cartel Market version of the Dark Vs. Light packs, on sale for 250 Cartel Coins. These packs are very similar to the Dark Vs. Light event rewards, except for a few differences. Here is a comparison of each pack:

Dark Vs. Light Event Packs

Packs and items are Bind on Pickup
All items unlock in collections [not entirely correct: armor does not unless you get the complete set and equip it]
Each pack contains one pack item and one misc. item
No chance cubes

Dark Vs. Light CM Packs

Packs and items are Bind on Equip (following normal lockout timer)
All items unlock in collections
Each pack contains one pack item, one grand chance cube, one companion gift, and Jawa Junk

Thanks everyone!

I don't know if its because they want light to win but I keep seeing people call the event "Light vs. Dark" but in the game and on swtor.com its "Dark vs. Light". Which probably tells you the developers preference. I want light to win but I recognize the events actual name.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 07/15/16 06:06 PM

Still no official comment, but according to another player, the bug in Depths of Menaan flash point is the fire you can get the end boss to stand in. Normally the strategy is to get the boss damage itself by walking through the flames but according to this other player you should only do that once, to remove its shield. After that stay out of thw fire because the Dark vs Light achievement doesn't recognize the fire killing the boss as you killing it. This makes the end boss harder.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 07/20/16 06:11 PM

Bad news, it back to 51 light, 49 dark.

Some people are saying if you do the group versions of Depths of Mannan only the boss who hits the last boss last gets the Dark vs Light achviement checked off. I wouldn't know the group version of this is impssible with random groups. It shouldn't be a tactical flash point because you can't beat it without a tank and healer. Taticals are supposed to be able to be completed by any combination of types. I've done others with all dps, all tanks.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 07/22/16 06:38 PM

Certain quests are considered no longer essential and are no longer available unless you bring up the map and put a check mark in "Show Exploration Mission". For the Dark vs Light Event its a good idea to check that box. Unchecked the NPCs are still there but they don't have quest indicators over their head and wont give you quest if you click on them. With the check they do. Without the box checked there are quests with light and dark choices you'll never get the chance to do. Some of them are just a matter of talking to somebody than returning to quest giver. They take you to places on the map you may otherwise not visit.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 07/28/16 06:16 PM

Dark vs Light rewards are character bound, although weapons and crystals also show up in collection so other characters you have can access them. Armor isn't added to collection until you get and wear all pieces. For this reason you probably want 1 character to get all the rewards. To get Eternal level and unlock the new companion you have to get a empire and a republic character both to level 65. To keep all the rewards on one character, you'll want to switch to the other before you complete other requirements, get to level 65 than switch back.

If you're going for Legendary, keeping all rewards on one character will be extremly difficult if not impossible, since for that level you have to play 8 characters, one of each class, get max light side on one, get max dark side on one, max all crafting and gathering skills, complete all other events, gree, plague, bounty contract, do every flashpoint, solo, tactical and hardmode and a long list of other stuff most people normally don't do. I'm not doing Legendary.

Last night Tai'kou (sith warrior dps) joined guild member to do the plague operation (he died, I always do on that one), plague world boss (barely scratched) and Terror from Beyond operation (he died on first boss and last). I had never gotten to the last boss before and it would have gone better if someone in guild had told me what to expect. It wasn't fun watching 15 other people finish off the boss (actually it was probably closer to 10 as mine wasn't only character to fail on last boss). Bosses drop lot that is randomly distributed. I thought Tai'kou would never win anything but from a boss just before the last, he won a token to exchange for a helmet, armor rating 216, he previously had 208. Now he has 216 helmet, chest and leggings. Bracers, belt, gloves, boots are 208. I think best is currently 220.

Armor has changed since last time I did an operation. Before if you managed to get multiple pieces from same set you got bonuses to your attributes now if you can get multiple pieces of same 216 or better armor you get bonuses to specific skills. So you have to look closely at armor description before you exchange the token. Originally you got armor for completing chapter 3 of your class which had bonuses for wearing the complete set. But that's long gone, You don't even get a quest to return to fleet to collect a reward anymore.

Tai'kou lightside sith warrior has just completed Knights of the Fallen Empire chapter 15. All he needs now to complete Dark vs Light Champion level is to complete chapter 16, which will be available August 9th. All he needs to complete Eternal, unlocking the future new compaanion, is to complete Champion. smile My second character to complete chapter 15 so I know it ends with a betrayal and purposely did not waste any gifts on the traitor, but dialogue in the chaper took influence from level 1 to level 4 anyway.

First character through chapter 15, a jedi knight, saved Imperial admiral and Republic senator.
Second character, sith warrior, saved Imperial admiral and Zakulian celebrity.

Have to do it on a third character to save senator and celebrity, let the admiral die.

Tai'kou has gotten former smuggler companion Guss, completed Knights of the Fallen Empire, reached Champion and Elite ranks of Dark vs Light event.

Knights of the Fallen Empire ended about as I expected.

Arcaan was defeated but survived. Senya abandoned the alliance to take care of him. There was an option to shoot their ship down killing them both but I took the let them go option. From comments I've seen on swtor.com about chapter 16 its seems

New Alliance alert for Rusk. Includes another Companion that players would love to kill...

Thanks everyone for tuning in!

Edit: I guessed wrong about other comp with Rusk. Looking at achievements I discovered Skadage, a bounty hunter companion, has more possible points now but how to get them isn't show, Probably you get some points for accepting him when you meet him getting Rusk and more points for rejecting him. To get all points you have to do the alert on two different characters and make two different choices.

Some people have been complaining about no major results of choices made in KOTFE. Somebody predicted it is Knights of the Eternal Throne which will reveal the results of choices and one developer responded "interesting theory" with s smiley face. There are actually some results of choices now. One big one I haven't seen yet because I havent finished KOTFE on a darkside character but I've read about it.
Click to reveal..
If you go darkside this upsets Koth who will at the end of chapter 16 steal the important starship called The Gravestone. So presumably darkside character has to go after both in Knights of the Eternal Throne.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 08/22/16 02:37 AM

I suspect the people who go around claiming Star Wars: The Old Republic is dying, when its actually more popular now than its ever been are the same nuts who claim World of Warcraft is on its last legs. I love how these "dying old games" keep coming out with new expansion. And World of Warcraft even had a movie made based on it. They wouldn't be spending money on expansions if they didn't expect to get it back and more.

And BTW the only reason the planned expanions to Guild Wars "Utopia" wac canceled and replaced with Guild Wars 2 is the developers wanted to do things their old game engine wouldn't support. I'd rather have had Utopia of course.

Somebody in swtor.com forum says Depths flashpoint still bugged for Dark vs Light. Last time I did it, before the update was supposed to fix it, I found that you have to get the end boss in the fire just long enough to burn its shield off or you wont be able to kill it. Once shield is off keep it out of the fire. In solo mode its actually harder to get it in the fire than to keep it out because the support droid you get is a tank and will drag it into a corner away from the flames unless you keep attacking the boss so it follows you into the fire. BTW the fire does a small amount of damage to you, but the droid is also a healer and will take care of that.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 08/26/16 04:43 AM

I think more people want the chiss jedi master (chiss are normally imperial) rather than the zabak sith. I want the chiss. A zabrak sith is old hat (you see one in the Star Wars prequels) a chiss jedi master is unique. The chiss are allies of the empire so you don't normally see one becoming a jedi. Chiss are the most poplar race for playing imperial agents for some reason.

I'm not sure I mentioned it before but a couple updates back an annoying new bug was introduced which hopefully September 7th's update will fix. If your character is a sith inquistor when you are doing KOTFE and you get the alert to meet Telos, since he was your former companion you can order him to end his current quest on Yavin 4 and leave with you. If not you're going to find completing his quest very difficult, in fact its impossible without finding an item not related to the quest. Somehow one of the most powerful bosses in the game got spawned near the item you need to finish Telo's quest. And this Ancient Threat automatically grabs you and kills you in about 5 seconds. You see it not supposed to spawn until someone carrying a serious of special objects summons it and then it takes a group of 16 people all of whom had to complete a scavenger hunt before they can even hurt it. The work around is to go to Tatooine locate a hard to find tiny blue object which spawns randomly throughout the planet. This item allows you to resist the Ancient Threat's pull long enough to get the item Telos needs. Some people say you will get the item Telo's needs then probably die. Cause if you get near the Ancient Threat at all it attacks and without the other items you need to locate first you have no defense against it. Without the Ancient Tome you can't complete Telo's quest because the Ancient Threat will pull you to your death as soon as you enter the area. Fortunately my jedi warrior had completed Telos's mission before this bug.

NYC Catina Band code: NYCantina16 for a free speeder mount

Goto swtor.com, click on MY STORE then REDEEM CODE. If you're not logged in to the web site, log in then enter NYCantina16 in the code blank.

In the game check your email. You may have to log out and back in or just switch to a different server. All your characters will get the item in their mail.

They've changed the way they do these codes. They used to give attendees each a different code with limited uses. So they could get the mount than share the code. Now they make a single unlimited code. And apparently they don't mind it being publicized. Since I get it from swtor.com forums. Catina tour is never going to come to Lincoln, Nebraska.

Now this is confusing. A tweet said Dark vs Light ends December 2nd but a developer post at swtor.com says it ends November 29th as far as finishing achievements is concerned but a week earlier for deciding which side wins.

Knights of the Eternal Throne instead of being released 1 chapter every month is going to have all 9 chapters available at once. So you can do chapter 1 and go right into chapter 2 if you want. Then 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

SWTOR Live Stream 2pm PT/4pm CT they're going to talk about ending of Dark vs Light event and some of the new stuff coming in December.

Edit: Dark vs Light companion determination ends November 15th
Dark vs Light gaining acheivments ends November 29th which is same day for early access to Knights of the Eternal Throne
light is currently winning. Double XP also ends November 29th.

Of the two new planets in Knights of the Eternal Throne one is entirely new to Star Wars, one is new to SWTOR but may have been mentioned in other Star Wars sources.

At level 70 Galactic Command becomes available to subscribers, earning Galactic Command points gives Command crates which will contain better armor, weaponry. If you dont actually like your rewards from these crates only, you can "Desingrarte" them converting them to Command points.

Although Dark vs Light event is ending Dark vs Light will be part of Galactic Command.

Certain chapters will be repeatable at different difficulty levels.

Once you pick a side everything you do, kill foes, complete missions, etc will grant points for that side. Your choice is not permenant however, you will be able to switch sides if you wish. Again this is per character.

Crafting in Eternal Throne | 10.28.2016, 09:14 PM
Hey folks,

As we discussed yesterday on the livestream, one of the goals of crafting is that it will be a mechanism where someone can gear up an alt, catch up to their friends, or even gear an off-spec. With the launch of Eternal Throne you will find that there is a new grade of materials and higher level items which can be learned from your Crafting Trainer. For endgame crafting, the intent is that you will be able to craft items which are within 2 item rating of the best gear in that tier, but without a set bonus. The exception to this rule is tier 1, where you will be able to craft items equivalent to the best item rating in that tier. All of the gear that you craft in this matter will be static, meaning that you cannot move mods. However, crafters will also be able to craft mods of those same item levels.

If that is confusing let me give you some examples using made up numbers from Fallen Empire:
Tier 1 – 216 with set bonus
Tier 2 – 220 with set bonus
Tier 3 – 224 with set bonus

You would be able to craft at the following ratings:
Tier 1 – 216 without a set bonus
Tier 2 – 218 without a set bonus
Tier 3 – 222 without a set bonus

Let’s talk about how you get access to craft these items.
Gear: You will earn the schematics to craft gear from their respective Command Crates. Ex: You will get schematics to craft tier 1 gear inside of tier 1 Command Crates. These schematics will require materials earned from Conquests in order to craft them.
Mods: You will earn the schematics to craft mods through either reverse engineering the mod, PvP, or looting the schematic from an Operation boss. These schematics will require materials earned from Operations or PvP in order to craft them.

This is a summary of how crafting relates to gearing in Eternal Throne. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hey folks,

As we have discussed previously, Warzone Commendations and Commendation Crystals are being removed from the game with Knights of the Eternal Throne. Our intention is that all of these currencies will be converted into credits on 11/29 when early access starts. Here are the conversion rates for each currency:

1 Warzone Commendation = 50 Credits
1 Common Crystal = 500 credits
1 Glowing Crystal = 1,000 credits
1 Radiant Crystal = 1,500 credits

Upon logging in on 11/29 each of these currencies will be completely removed from the game and the appropriate credits will have been granted to each character on your account. Note that there is a 2 million credit per character limit on this conversion. Please check the conversion table above, if you would earn more than 2 million credits on a character, we recommend that you spend the appropriate currency before that time so that it is not lost. If you have any questions about this conversion, let us know.

Thanks everyone.

Edit: I thought I may not have gotten the 3 days of early access because of the probelem with my subscription not autorewing but I just got in the game and Knights of the Eternal Throne is there plus the subscriber companion and walker.

Because of that skill change you may find a skill missing from your skill bar. And all combat proficiency utility point choices have been rest so you need to repick the ones you want on every character before you go charging into combat.

Knights of the Eternal Empire

Chapter 1 set on Voss
Chapter 2 set on Drumond Kass and you meet the new Sith Empress
Chapter 3 set inside the Gravestone, and I hate it. The mission not the ship. There's a timed sequence that makes me think very unkind things about its designer and programmer.
Chapter 4 introduces a new planet
Chapter 5 continues on same planet
other chapters I wont get to tonight

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 12/01/16 03:54 AM

Reached level 70 and got my first command chest. All I did to get level 2 command was click on that quest giving device in the Odessen Command Center. I got a thing that gave random amount of command points, an schematic for making a rifle I'll have to pass on to one of other characters that could use it, boots I put on. And a blaster cannon which I had no use for so I destroyed it and got 100 command points.

Although the Dark vs Light event is over the game now keeps track of light and dark choices for each server for the new Galactic Command thing so you may see a message telling you the galaxy is going Light or Dark or is Balanced when neither side is winning.

Chapter 6 takes place in the Zakual Palace. You''re in diguise and the only skill you have is "Hint". There's a hidden quest, pick up the Vaylin hologram item from the table near the end of the mission it will reward you later.
Chapter 7 takes place on another new world
Chapter 8 is on Odessen
Chapter 9 is on Zakuul

The Scions who in Knights of the Fallen Empire said they would be there to aid in your destiny never actually appear after that. However, after you complete Knights of the Eternal Throne chapter 9 they send you an email claiming they will be there for the next party of your destiny. Something about past and future colliding. So now Tai'kou, Commander of the Eternal Alliance (he declined to be Emperor) waits for the next disaster. Of course regardless of all his talk about peace, the Republic and Empire are back preparing for war since you defeated their common foe. The Alliance still stands because some from both sides still believe in it.

I found the final battle against Vaylin to be more difficult than the battle against Valkorian, who supposed to be more powerful. For two reason: 1 you fight Vaylin alone and 2 you fight her only with your class skills but you fight Valkorian with 3 allies and 3 special skills added for just this fight. Also the Vaylin battle is skewed in favor of ranged characters who can stand back outside her area of affect skill and just shoot at her. On melee (like my sith warrior) you have to run away and hope you time it right to avoid most of the damage, which is unlikely because she also has an immobilizing skill. When you do manage to run out of range you have to hope you get lucky and the healing device chooses to appear at that time. Valkorian I hit with my regular skills and three extra oneas one active and he went down pretty fast without my dying once. Vaylin killed me several times. Twice by knocking me off the platform.

So this seems to say the character I completed KOTET with wont get his money until Friday, when he gets Dark vs Light final rewards, but my other characters could get their credits today since I haven't played any of them since the last update. Also the game is going down for some time Friday morning to actually add the Dark vs Light rewards and open KOTET to all subscribers.

So far every Command chest I've gotten has given me one armor piece useful for the character that earned the chest. one item that grants either more command points or reputation points, a schemmatic and one "bind on equip" weapon. This means the weapons can be passed on to other characters in your Legacy. Or as I've done you can destroy them for more Command Points.

If you took park in Dark vs Light event and completed the eternal level to get the new ccmpanion she comes as an KOTFE/KOTET Alert ie a mission or quest. There is also a device in your mail lets you summon the companion if your character hasn't started KOTFE and you want to get her anyway. Also a mini pet, a mount and a new set of armor.

On sith warrior when you meet the Light Side reward Jedi Master you can ask her if she knows anything about your missing jedi companion, Jaesa. Unfortunately she only knows her reputation hasn't ever met her. I'm guessing jedi knight would get to ask about Kira, sith inquisitor about Ashara and maybe jedi consular about Nadia (who was training to be a jedi).

Jaesa is unique in that she follows your character's alignment, if you're lightside she's lightside (and not romanceable), if you're dakrside she's darkside (and romanceable). My sith warrior that did the Dark vs Light event is lightside so he got the lightside answer to his question. Apparently there is a darkside version in which the new jedi master claims Jaeasa went insane without you.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 12/04/16 08:08 PM

Darkside Sith Warrior talking to Master Ranos including rejecting her - not my character

Sith Inquistor talks with Master Ranos, asks about Ashara - not my character

Jedi Knight asking Master Ranos about Lord Scourge - I wasn't expecting that one, Again not me

Jedi Consular asking about Nadia - still not me

Jedi Knight asking about Kira - still not me

Lightside Sith Warrior asking about Jaesa - nope not me

Non force user (trooper) talking to Master Ranos - again not me

Lord Scourge seems to be only non-romancable companion you can ask about.

A change I didn't know about before:
Now when you create a new character you choose its advanced class no waiting until level 10. So for example instead of creating a Jedi Knight and then choosing advanced class later you immediatly create Jedi Knight Sentinel or Jedi Knight Guardian. Jedi Knight Guardians and Sith Warrior Juggernauts still start with medium armor, upgrade to heavy later. Also characters that can duel wield weapons (2 lightsabers, two blasster pistols) still start out with ability to only use 1 and unlock the second later.

Note because of class skill changes or old characters you should click on a skill trainer to get any new skills added and respend your combat proficiency points for utility skills on all characters. All Dark vs Light Event rewards are available to all your characters.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 01/18/17 09:16 PM

Been changes to how new characters work so I created a new one try it out.

Then:
Originally when you created your character you chose your main class: jedi knight, jedi consular, trooper. smuggler, sith warriir, sith inquisitor, bounty hunter, imperial agent and then when you reached level 10 and arrived at the Fleet you got a quest to choose your advanced class. At which point you got your secondary weapon and possibly a new main weapon.

Now:
During character creation you choose your advanced class: jedi knight: guardian (tank/dps) or sentinal (dps), jedi consular: sage (healder/dps) or shadow (tank/dps), smuggler: gunslinger (dps) or scoundrel (healder/dps), trooper: commando (healer/dps) or vanguard (tank/dps); sith warrior: marauder (dps) or juggernaut (tank/dps), sith inquistor: sorcerer (healer/dps) or assassin (tank/dps), bounty hunter: powertech (tank/dps) or mercenary (healer/dps), imperial agent: operative (healer/dps) or sniper (dps)

I created a sith assassin, upon completing the sith inquistor storyline on Korriban he got a double bladed light saber. That quest used to give a single bladed lightsaber which you would never actually use if you went to fleet and chose assassin because you'd be given the double bladed lightsaber you need for that advanced class so you get the proper weapon before you leave for the fleet now. On the negative side even though I picked tank option no quest on the first two planets gave shield generator they gave power generators which is for dps. I had another character with money buy a shield generator and put it in legacy storage for new assassin to pick up. Wasn't until third planet that shield generators started being offered as rewards.

Some skills are now available sooner than they used to be. New skills for the different advanced classes are mostly cosmetic. For example operatives now throw daggers to hit multiple targets instead of spraying them with blaster bolts like snipers. The effect on targets is the same for both versions of imperial agent.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 01/25/17 09:57 PM

Note 1: when creating a new character the game defaults to setting Republic characters to lightside and Empire to darkside. So if you want a darkside Republic character or Lightside Empire character you have to toggle your side BEFORE you enter combat or complete any quests. The toggles are nearly invisible. Just move cursor on the compass until you see lightside or darkside choice appear than click.

Note 2: new characters may not have their Legacy skills. Log out and back in, they'll show up.

So I'm not saying what it is. But if you play the game and find something that seems too good to be true its probably a bug and you should do the right thing, report it.

Coming in April, Game Update 5.2 which will include

Brand new story arc on Iokath. The Empire and Republic are fighting over control of the planet and you, as the Alliance Commander will choose who to side with.
Two returning Companions: Quinn and Elara.
After completing Iokath's storyline, it opens up into a new daily area.
Coming with Iokath is the first boss of a new Operation. Each subsequent boss will be released in the future with the entire Op being completely released this year.
We are planning to have a PTS for 5.2 in the next few weeks. More details to follow.

Apparently this new chapter will force choosing to side with Republic or Empire and that will decide which companion you get. Side with Republic, get Elara (former Jedi Knight companion), side with Empire get Quinn (former Sith Warrior companion).

If you look under acheivments you find categories you've completed are shown as gold. I just realized all my companions that have not yet returned in Knights, that had been gold (for 100 and 1000 kills) are now green again. This must mean they're all coming back eventually. Because they only do that to returning companions. You get gold status again with most of them when 1 character accepts them and 1 other rejects them. I expected to see Kira and Quinn go green since they're return has already been announced but not all the others.

Another change for new characters. It used to be when reaching level 10 you would get Emergency Fleet Pass which would automatically be added to your skill bars. Now it doesn't. You have to look press P then look in General skills to find it and if you want it on a your bar manually add it.

Also Raguhoul Plague is on Alderaan again.

When you reach level 60 heroics stop giving armor pieces and start giving items you can trade to KOTFE base npcs to increase their sanctification. Even if you reach level 60 still doing class storyline. When you reach level 70 (current max) even if your still in class story, you start getting command points. One one my characters got to Command Level 4 while still in class story chapter. Items from the chests are now mostly legacy bound instead of character, so you can put in storage for another character to use. Some items still bound to the character that earned them, armor or weapons usable by the character for example. Modifiable armor or weapons with no stats until modified are legacy. But those are worth 100 command if you destroy them instead, so I do.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 12/07/17 08:37 PM

I've been out of the game for quite awhile. Decided to maybe get back into it, What a shock I received when reading the notes on the lastest updates. First thing I saw in the update note was a new flashpoint (group play) in which you go after the traitor Theron Shan.

When I quit I had completed Knights of the Fallen Empire but not Knights of the Eternal Throne. Well it turns out of course your character eventually takes the throne. But in order for the game to continue something has to go wrong of course. So what goes wrong? According to what I've just read a traitor appears among your ranks. Which means another companion is going bye bye. So I guess you should not romance Shan. He's a traitor against the Alliance because his goal was always the destruction of the Eternal Throne and doesn't like your taking command of it even though your intention if lightside, is to use it to bring peace. If darkside you just want to be a dictator.

They must have lost a lot of players or they just made two huge US servers (3 European). Because my characters been moved to new servers and as a result about 1/4 have to be renamed if I choose to place those. Which sucks because the names are what I wanted. Anyway since no longer a subscriber I'm limited to how many I can unlock to play again until I resubscribe.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 12/08/17 01:24 AM

Odd new feature. You dont actually have to board your ship to travel. You just bring up the galaxy map and you can travel however you will end up outside your ship and if your quest requires you to talk to someone inside your ship you will have to go there anyway. If you want to go to a planet outside your normal quests this will get you there faster but if doing class quests you may as well return to your ship anyway before traveling.

I deleted Korishi, one of the characters that needed to be renamed. He's done with class story and I would have to subscribe to have him do Knights. And since I didn't have a differnet name for him I just deleted him.

They changed smugglers and imperial agents so they no longer take cover to use their best skills. Which is confusing me.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 12/12/17 10:11 PM

I entered queue for "activity" to get a random group in any flash point. Despite no longer being a subscriber and being less than lever 70 I got put in the Knights of Eternal Throne flashpoint (level 70) at the end of which the identity of the traitor is revealed. The group was made up of mostly under leveled people and although the game buffs those under level 70 we couldn't beat the second boss and everybody else quit. So obviously I have access to the flash point but not the quests that lead up to it. I saw the masked traitor twice.

In fact I went through 3 failed attempt at random flashpoints before finding a group that could finish one. The reason for doing a random FP is there is a weekly quest for that. You enter the queue and have to complete what ever FP it tosses you in.
It was funny I kept getting level 49 armor drops on a lever 46 character. She made it to level 49 doing normal quests.

Because I was formerly a subscriber I still have access to the Knigths of Fallen Empire companions the smuggler and the bounty hunter through devices my characters get in the in game mail which lets me summon them without having access to the actual quests. I also still get the jedi knight from the lightside/darkside contest.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 12/16/17 07:15 AM

I previously talked about how staring Knights of the Fallen Empire causes you to lose you companions. The following can return during either Knights of the Fallen Empire or Knights of the Eternal Throne:

Note: they are recrutible by all classes not just their original classes.

Jedi Knight:
T7-01: automatically joins you as part of the KOTFE story
Doc: (possible husband for female knight) Missing in Action (MIA)
Kira Carson: (possible wife for male knight) MIA
Lord Scourge: MIA
Sgt Rusk: recrutible KOTFE

Jedi Consular:
Quzen Fess: recrutible KOTFE
Nadia Grell (possible wife): MIA
Felix Iresso (possible husband): MIA
Zenith: MIA
Tharan Cedrax: MIA

Trooper:
Aric Jorgan: (possible husband): joins as part of KOTFE story (can be killed or banished)
M1-4X: recruitable KOTFE (Republic characters only)
Tanno Vik: (original voice actor deceased) will meet but will not join you (can be killed) (only returning companion who is not actually recrutible)
Yuun: recruitable KOTFE
Elara Dorne: (possible wife) recrutible KOTET (can only get her or Malavi Quinn) apparently if trooper makes dark side choices in KOTE she will reject her husband in KOTET

Smuggler:
Corso Riggs: (possible husband) MIA
Guss Tano: recruitable KOTFE
Risha Drayen: (possible wife): MIA
Bowdaar: recrutible KOTFE
Akaavi Sparr: (possible wife): MIA

Sith Warrior:
Vette:(possible wife): joins as part of KOTFE story
Jaesa Willsam: (possible wife): MIA
Major Pierce: recrutible KOTFE (Empire characters only)
Broonmark: recuribtle KOTFE
Captain Malavi Quinn: (possible husband) recruitble KOTET (can only get him or Elara Dorne) (can be killed)

Sith Inquisitor:
Khem Val: MIA
Talos Drellik: recruitble KOTFE
Xalek: recrutible KOTFE (can be killed)
Andronikos Revel: (possible husband) MIA
Asjara Zavros: (possible wife): MIA

Imperial Agent:
Kalyo Djannis: (possible wife): joins as part of KOTFE store (can be killed/banished)
SCORPIO: joins as part of KOTFE, villain in KOTET
Doctor Eckard Lokin: recruitible KOTFE
Ensign Reina Temple: (possible wife) recrutible KOTET
Vector Hyllus: (possible husband): MIA

Bounth Hunter:
Mako: (possible wife) MIA
Torian Cadara: recrutible KOTFE
Blizz: recrurtible KOTFE
Gault Renaow: joins as part of KOTFE story
Skadge recruitble KOTFE (can be killed)

Ship Droids:
2V-R8: (Empire) recruited KOTFE - both are in alliance base, both become your companions
C2-N2: (Republic) recruited KOTFE - has daily quest

So to sum up:
Jedi Knight possible spouses both missing (they just dont want jedi married)
Jedia Consular possible spouses both missing (they just dont want jedi married)
Trooper both possible spouses return
Smuggler possible spouses both missing
Sith Warrior one of two possible wives returns, possible husband returns
Sith Inquisitor possible spouses both missing
Imperial Agent both possible wives return, possible husband missing
Bounty Hunter: possible wife missing, possible husband returns

Theron Shan, Lana Beniko and Koth Vortena are main characters in KOTFE and KOTET. They are romanceble (by either gender, class companions are restricted to opposite sex). Depending on your light or dark choices Koth may leave the alliance. As previous;y mentioned Theron betrays the Alliance. Apparently Koth will return in KOTET and its possible then to kill him.

Note: some former companions can be killed instead of recruited. At one point in KOTFE one class companion will die during the story, you have control of which of two possibilities, Vette or Torian. Not having played through KOTET I'm note sure if any die during that story.

Note: all class companions (including ones killed) can be summoned through an item at alliance base, but this is just so you can have them available for your use. Plot wise the missing are still missing and the deceased are still dead.

HK51, Treek and other misc companions will also disappear but will return without explanation once you reach alliance base

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 12/17/17 04:57 PM

Star Forces server:
Sasa Lii completed Jedi Knight chapter 1: 12/14/17

Satele Shan server:
Raiini completed Smuggler chapter 1: 12/14/17
Incendios completed Bounty Hunter chapter 1: 12/16/17

While I was gone they had an event which reward a sith companion which I think was the sith the Dark vs Light event would have given if the Dark had won. Since I was not playing in November I can't get the companion or the mini pet. Not that I need either.

Combine servers was supposed to increase group play. In other words I was right, they didnt have enough players on the original 8 North American servers or 9 European servers, a total of 17, so they reduced them to 2 and 3, a total of 5. And then made an event to celebrate this "improvement". Well could be worse, they could have just shut the gamed down. Someday they probably will.

According to a video on youtube there is another flash point coming in 2018. Apparently the traitor gets away at the end of the previous one. So apparently Knights of the Eternal Throne is not quite finished.

One sight claims that despite the reduction in servers SWTOR is still number 4 in top played MMORPGs. So maybe there is hope for the MIA companions after all.

Bioware's licensing agreement runs through 2023. So theoretically it could run until then. Practically, it depends on how long it makes more money than it costs to operate. For excample: Arenanet continues to run the original Guild Wars, five year after Guild Wars 2, they just don't update it. They did have updates planned but they dropped them with the creation of Guild Wars 2, which never lived up to the hype. In fact GW2 is now free to play (without the expansions).

I will probably resubscribe for a month at some point to do KOTET.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 12/18/17 07:55 PM

My young cousin does not like the new movie. I was going to say hates but that's properly too strong a word. I think people tend to over use the words love and hate. I haven't seen it yet. The problem is he and I do not agree on the prequels. There his generations Star Wars where mine is the original 3. We do agree on Rogue One, which is the best of the new films. So I can't necessarily go by what he thinks. I'll have to see it myself. I'll probably wait for it to show up on Netflix though.

Back to SWTOR: the fourth character I unlocked (when you let your subscription lapse they lock all your characters if you have more than the free to play limit) is about to finish imperial agent chapter 2.

I don't know if its another limit placed on non subscribers but I can no longer go from stronghold to my ship or to fleet. Which is annoying because when you're doing chapters if you use the map to travel to next planet you appear outside your ship and have to inside of it to use the holoterminal, or intercom or talk to an NPC standing inside the ship. The only way to get to ship before your travel now is go to current planet's landing port or to fleets docking bay. Which is more time consuming.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 12/24/17 08:29 PM

I'm quite old so I grew up with the original three movies. I like the new movie (VIII), watched it a couple of days ago, liked it more than the one before that (VII). But I also like the newer movies (I, II and III), well at least II and III. Rogue One is also my favorite of all new movies.

Played SWTOR many years ago, miss it a bit, but don't have time to play it nowadays. Guess a lot has changed since I played it.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 01/10/18 05:16 PM

Okay, the hunkering down to use skills still exists for gunslinger and sniper but not scoundrel or operative (the stealthy versions of smuggler and agent).

I haven't bought any but the game now has storage devices you can summon in the field to put stuff away. I just go to stronhold and use storage there. I had coins left over from when I was a subscriber but I used most of them on other things.

If I want to resubscribe its actually cheaper to buy a 90 day pass on Amazon, which includes some bonus coins than to subscribe through the game. Also the 90 day pack just expires doesn't auto renew you.

I'm a bit confused as to whether I have to resubscribe or not for Knights of the Eternal Throne. When i do random flash points I sometimes get thrown into KOTET flashpoints. It may be that once a subscriber you keep the expansions you had access to before you just cant have as many characters, dont earn experience as fast (although its still insanely quick) and when you get over $200,000 in credits the game starts warning you that you're close to $350,000 none subscriber limit. I just put $100,000 credits in the legacy storage. I have no idea what the limit on that is but I have a couple million in there. I can only access $350,000 per characters which means I cant buy any of the million plus credit items other players sell.

What' I'd like to get is the underwater stronghold they added after popular demand but I can't carry the credits as a and I don't have enough of the cartel coins to do it that way. I'd have to buy that 90 day pass.

new operation
return Risha & Corso (both smuggler, both possible spouses) - first time two companions from same class returning together
return Andronikos (sith inquisitor, possible spouse for female)

Later updates:
new flashpoint
more companions returning

Turns out I can do main storyline of Knights of the Eternal Throne without resubscribing but I can't do the some of the optional group stuff.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO - The Topic Awakens - 01/15/18 03:48 AM

Turns out I had done most of Eternal Throne's main story. Been long enough I forgot doing it. Last few parts had a bug. It tells you do do a flashpoint normally a group thing in solo mode. I did it bit then I didn't get next quest. A couple hours later someone told me how to get the missing quest. Goto space ship and click on the terminal in it. So after getting the missing quest and doing flash point on a Chiss planet I parked my character back in his ship. I'm now all caught up until they continue the story later this year. Next quest will probably be from that terminal on ship.

During one of the missions you have to side either with the Empire and get Sith Warrior companion or Republic and get Republic Trooper companion. Seeing I was playing a Sith Warrior I had to go with Empire and his companion back.

Even if it hadn't been spoiled I'd have known who the traitor is. its painfully obvious and therefore annoying that your character is blind to who it is.

During second flashpoint you get Imperial Agent companion.

However, having seen the traitor in action I have a theory (which I think most other players agree with), that the traitor isnt. That in reality he's joined the new group of villains (who we have actually met before) in order to infiltrate them and in the end he will turn on them. And he doesnt tell you because than there would be no drama.

New twist: the quest to regain smuggler companions Corso and Risha is only available to smugglers. The new quest to regain Andronikos is only available to sith inquisitors.

People wanted more class specific quests (including me) so this is apparently how we're getting them. Looks like instead of all classes getting all companions its back to only the original classes getting them. Which actually make sense. Nobody really needs every companion that ever existed.

What disappoints me is the new group thing is an operation, not a flash point. As a nonsubcriber I don't have access to operations. And doesn't seem like it has anything to do with finding the traitor.

It's double experience week
and the plague has struck Tatooine

Just read the update introduced a bug:
If you romanced Corso, or Risha or Andronokis before KOTFE than also Romanced Theron during KOTFE then went back to one of the others during these new quests, you get an extra quest you cannot complete because of course Theron is not available at this point in the story. Their saying to ignore the quest until they can fix it it later update. Didn't say if same bug happens if you romanced Koth but made him mad by being too dakrside so he left. But I would assume so.

There is one thing that annoys me. That's the many cut scenes in which I catch up with my target then just stand there and watch them run away. Makes me look stupid. I'm a Jedi Knight or Sith Warrior do I use the force to fling myself after them or hurl my light saber at them? Nope. I'm a Jedi Consular or Sith Inqusitor do I use the Force to paralyses them? Nope. I'm a Smuggler or Imperial agent, do I fire a paralyzing dart at them? Of course not that would make sense. I'm a Trooper do I harpoon them? Don't be silly. I'm a Bounty Hunter to I carbon freeze them not at all. No whatever I am I forget I have a skill or skills for just the situation and do nothing. Yes I know its to continue the plot. But it makes the hero look stupid. So it needs to be a plot point that no one ever uses in any game ever again.

Agreed, that view when you know you could have taken down the foe is very annoying, especially when your in combat mode.

In Skyrim they have a cut scene kill shot feature that I absolutely hate and was so glad when someone came up with a mod to make it optional. In battle, when you're about to take care of a foe, they stop the action and integrate a particularly dramatic death scene: beheading your foe, catching them in the head with an arrow and so forth. The problem is that the combat action around you doesn't stop. So, if your like me who fights down to the last thread of health against multiple foes, this can be terribly frustrating. Suddenly you're thrown into a cut scene while at the same time your character is being sliced to pieces by the remaining attackers. You come out of the cut scene just in time to see your character fall to the ground dead! A mouse shattering experience. lol

Alas poor mouse.
It had nothing to do with that bad design decision.

That sort of thing rarely happens in SWTOR. Although I did just happen to me doing Knights of the Eternal Throne on a Sith Inquisitor. Killed all the enemies. Clicked on the object not a person in this case, got the cut scene. And when it was over I discovered a new mob had appeared during the cut scene. I always heal up before cut scenes if I can so I was at full health and able to deal with the mob. But I had taken my hand off the keys and mouse so for a few seconds I was defenseless.

Most of the time you can't start a cut scene in the middle of a fight, you'll be told you're in combat and can't talk to that person or click on that object.

In the original Guild Wars there is a mission where you die as part of the story but you're brought back to life by the spirits who normally take the dead to the after life because its not actually your time to die. If you have a necromancer who has undead minions in your group the necromancers death causes the minions to go rogue and they will attack the party during the cut scene. Thats normal for now masterless minions to go wild but they should have considered that when making this cutscene. They never did fix it and now they dont have anyone to do bug fixes since everyone went to Guild Wars 2 or quit. If there was a minion master the rest of the party would ask everyone skip the cutscene to avoid the deaths and minions attacking. The plot still advances. SWTOR allows that in group quests too.
