An interesting video by Ross Scott.

I've heard many times "you don't own your games anymore" but is that legal?

Ross Scott goes into what the law actually says, and whether games are a good or a service.
If a game's "terms of service" violate the law, the law wins.

It seems to apply mostly to multiplayer games, but can also apply to single player games that require an online connection for DRM.

"....If the company is creating the defect in the product on purpose, and does it over, and over again; to the point where selling intentionally defective products is their whole business model. That still smells like fraud to me...."

*cough-Bethesda-cough* lol

Intellectual property is a touchy thing, I deal with it often in my line of work and it's so difficult to make people understand that it doesn't imply lack of ownership.
