i don't see why not , there is nothing wrong with either size. i sometimes dont have a pan or dish the right size but i make do and use what i do have

1 pound ground beef
1 can (10 1/2 ounces) Campbell’s® Condensed Cream of Mushroom with Roasted Garlic Soup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 bag (16 ounces) frozen California vegetable blend (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots)(broccoli, cauliflower, carrots), thawed
2 cups water
3 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup milk
2 cups instant mashed potato flakes

How to Make It
Step 1
Heat the oven to 400°F. Cook the beef in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat until well browned, stirring often to separate meat. Pour off any fat.

Step 2
Stir the beef, 1/2 can soup, Worcestershire and vegetables in a 2-quart shallow baking dish.

Step 3
Heat the water, butter and remaining soup in a 3-quart saucepan over medium heat to a boil. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the milk. Stir in the potatoes. Spoon the potatoes over the beef mixture.

Step 4

family, we keep telling you that recipes are just guidelines. You do not have to follow them exactly. Both of your pans are close and just use your own judgement as to which will work best.

I often use two or more smaller dishes than suggested, that way I can cook both and then freeze the "extra" dishes for another day.

I do that sometimes too, copper. Sometimes it's nice to have one in the freezer to just pop in the oven when I don't feel like cooking!

I don't see that the recipe calls for the specific size pan you asked about. It says a 2 quart shallow baking dish.

I see. The Cooking Companion says a 2 quart shallow baking dish is about 12x8? I would think the depth of the dish would make a difference. For example, a cookie sheet could be 12x8, but not suitable for making this dish. I'm sorry if I'm confusing the issue. Do you have a 2 quart shallow baking dish? This would be a casserole sort of dish, rather than a baking pan like a cookie sheet.
