We're finally getting a Pup!

She's a rescue from Alabama; part Lab, Great Pyrenees and Border Collie. Adoption app is approved and we're going to see her tomorrow

I'm in love! And a rescue... I do a lot of work in rescue and this is just so exciting!

What a cutie pie!!!!

Yeah, we're feeling pretty lucky. It appears she's already crate trained and house broken, probably done while she was with her Sandi-Paws foster parents. They are super nice people over at our local Sandi-Paws. They really took the time to take us through everything they had on her, gave us a bunch of really high quality food and are offering to either pay for spaying at their regular vet or will reimburse us a bit if we go to a different one. They even have scheduled follow-ups with us to make sure everything is going well.

The pup had a quiet night, a rambunctious morning and is napping sweetly. I took the day off, and went to PetSmart to get her a bunch of toys.

It's Rukia. My understanding is that it loosely translates to Heaven's Flower. It's also the name of a character from an anime that we enjoy watching.

How old is Rukia

She's just 5 months, but 35lbs already. When I measured her chest girth for a harness, she's at 27". She's going to be a very big girl.

Congrats Trail, my Becky is a Lab /Border Collie mix. She is a year old now and 70 lbs.

EDIT: I see her name is Rukia. I believe that is Swahili, yes? Our nanny in Mombasa was named Rukia. Pretty name.
