Joe's Diner July 19th - 07/19/20 04:19 PM

If minutes were kept of a family gathering, they would show that “Members not Present”and “Subjects Discussed” were one and the same.

Robert Brault

Q. What did the sleepy Australian bear say at the job interview?

A. "I believe I am koala-fied for this position."
~~

A dog walks into a butcher shop and the butcher asks, “What do you want?” The dog points to steak in a glass case. “How many pounds?” The dog barks twice. “Anything else?” The dog points to some pork chops and barks four times.

So the butcher wraps up a two-pound steak and four pork chops, and places the bag in the dog’s mouth. He then takes money from a purse tied around the dog’s neck, and sees him out.

A customer, who has been watching in amazement, follows the dog to a house several blocks away, where it rings the doorbell to be let in. As the owner appears at the door, the customer says, “What a remarkable dog!”

“Remarkable?” snorts the owner. “This is the second time this week he’s forgotten his keys.”
~~

A man boards a plane and is seated next to an Air Marshall and his ‘sniffing dog’. Soon, the plane takes off and the Marshall says, “Sniffer, search.” The dog walks along the aisle, and stops next to a woman. He then returns to his seat and puts a paw on the Marshall’s arm.

“Good boy,” says the Marshall.

“What happened?” asks the man.

“That woman is in possession of marijuana. We’ll arrest her when we land.”

Once again, Sniffer searches the aisles. He stops beside a man, then returns to his seat, and places two paws on the Marshall’s arm.

“That man is carrying cocaine,” the Marshall explains.

The dog walks up the aisle again, then races back, jumps into his seat, and poops all over it.

“What’s going on?!” demands the man.

The Marshall nervously replies, “He just found a bomb!”
~~

Two guys were out walking their dogs on a hot day, when they pass by a pub. The first guy says, “Let’s go in there for a pint.” Second guy, says, “They won’t let us in with our dogs.” First guy: “Sure they will, just follow my lead.”

He goes up to the pub, and sure enough the doorman says, “I can’t let you in here with that dog.” He replies, “Oh, I’m blind and this is my seeing-eye dog.” The doorman says, “Ok then, come on in.”

The second guy sees this and does the same thing. He goes up to the pub, and the doorman says, “You can’t come in here with a dog.” He replies, “I’m blind and this is my seeing-eye dog.” The doorman responds, “You have a chihuahua for a seeing-eye dog?” The second guy stops for a second, and exclaims, “They gave me a chihuahua?”
~~

A priest, a rabbi, and a minister decide to see who’s best at his job. So they each go into the woods, find a bear, and attempt to convert it. Later they get together.

The priest begins. “When I found the bear, I read to him from the Catechism and sprinkled him with holy water. Next week is his First Communion.”

“I found a bear by the stream,” says the minister, “and preached God’s holy word. The bear was so mesmerized that he let me baptize him.”

They both look down at the rabbi, who is wrapped in a body cast. “Looking back,” he says, “maybe I shouldn’t have started with the circumcision.”
~~

A poodle and a collie are walking down the street when the poodle suddenly unloads on his friend. “My life is a mess,” he says. “My owner is mean, my girlfriend’s having an affair with a German shepherd, and I’m as nervous as a cat.”

“Why don’t you go see a psychiatrist,” suggests the collie.

“I can’t,” says the poodle. “I’m not allowed on the couch.”
~~

A guy spots a sign outside a house that reads, “Talking Dog for Sale.” Intrigued, he walks in.

“So, what have you done with your life?” he asks the dog.

“I’ve led a very full life,” says the dog. “I lived in the Alps rescuing avalanche victims. Then I served my country in Iraq. And now, I spend my days reading at a retirement home.”

The guy is flabbergasted, he turns to the owner and asks, “Why on earth would you want to get rid of a dog like that?”

The owner says, “Because he’s a liar! He never did any of that.”
~~

An extensive government study has revealed that the leading cause of cancer in laboratory rats is scientists.
~~

Pollen and allergies got the best of Liam, my 9-year-old son, so he stayed home from school with his grandma. When I got home from work, he said he had brushed our dog, Abby.
Knowing that I kept the dog’s brush up out of reach so she couldn’t chew on it, I asked, “How did you know where I keep Abby’s brush?”

He gave me a puzzled look and said matter-of-factly, “I didn’t. I used your brush.”
~~

Several years ago we headed to a nearby town to visit some relatives. I had a new car and was having fun driving fast on the twisty country roads. As we zoomed along, I noticed a three-legged chicken keeping pace with me. I slowed to get a better look at the speedster when it turned and went down a dirt road.

I stopped, turned around and followed it. After a short ride, we came upon a house with an older couple sitting on the porch and dozens of three-legged chickens in the yard.

I asked them, “Are these your chickens? They’re the fastest I’ve ever seen.” The old man said, “Yep.” So I asked him where they came from, and he replied, “When the kids were younger, they always fought over the chicken legs, so we decided to breed a three-legged chicken.”

I nodded and said, “Well, they are fast, but what do they taste like?”

He admitted, “Not rightly sure; we can't catch any of them.”
~~

When my daughter, Brooxie, was 5 years old, she’d stay with my husband’s parents while we were at work. One day Brooxie was helping Papaw gather eggs.

While putting the eggs into the basket she was carrying, she asked, “Papaw, where do these eggs come from?” Papaw then explained in detail the delicate process of making an egg. Brooxie put her hands on her hips and exclaimed, “Papaw, I don’t eat anything that comes out of a chicken!” And for many years, she didn’t.
~~

During a summer ranch tour we were hosting for an elder hostel, our van passed a pasture with a windmill and a herd of cattle around a stock tank.

A lady on the tour said, “Oh, look! This rancher put up a fan to cool the animals!”
~~

A few months ago, Hamas
“arrested” a dolphin for being an
Israeli spy. Readers of Reason
magazine came up with titles for
the film this action might inspire:

• Orcapussy • Free Schmuelly • Goldflipper • The Porpoise-Driven Life • Dolphinfidel
~~

A woman called our airline
customer-service desk asking if she could take her dog on board. “Sure,” I said, “as long as you provide your own kennel.” I further explained that the kennel needed to be large enough for the dog to stand up, sit down, turn around, and roll over.

The customer was flummoxed:
“I’ll never be able to teach him all of that by tomorrow!”

A Canadian psychologist is selling a video that teaches you how to test your dog's IQ.

So I had to put my foot down.

Q. What does a dolphin say when he’s confused?

A. Can you please be more Pacific?

A. Pay him!

I dressed my dog up as a cat for Halloween.

Now he won't come when I call him.

Are you ready for some fresh jokes? yay

The last ones must be getting pretty stale by now. wink

I'm waiting for some folks to get here and pick up the two kittens I have. I caught them this morning. One of them is pretty wild, and the other is more docile, but they both hiss at me. The aggressive one paws at me. blackkitty

I'm glad they're both going to the same family though. yes

I hope everyone is well out there. L4L I really admire your spunk ma'am. praise

I don't even want to run to my truck in 100 degree heat. blush

Soot I hope your half days work well for you.

Taintedfury my hands will start giving me problems when I am gaming. I have the old arthritis in both thumbs. I hope your procedures get you back to enjoying your games without pain. woot

Ana I wish Missy could enjoy swimming like your pups, but I really can't see myself even going out to the lake to swim that often.

Anyway, this lake actually has alligators in it. Missy would be a tasty meal for sure. lol

Have a super fantastic week Ana, Family, L4L, Soot, SpaceQuestFan, Gerry, Connie, ManXman, ButterFlyBabe, Trail_Mystic, Mary, TaintedFury and everyone.

Good morning everyone!

Joe, thanks for starting a new week! So happy to hear you caught the kitties! I'm still working on finding my stray mama kitties litter and getting her to trust me. She now gets within 3 feet of me which is a huge accomplishment.

connie, I hope you have a great lunch!

family, enjoy!

soot, sounds like a good work plan. I have a few friends still working from home and take their laptops on vacation with them, "work" during the day and are on vacation the rest of the day. No one even knows they are on the other side of the county. LOL Brilliant!

Have a great day! Feels like ground hog day to me...sigh.

Re: Joe's Diner July 19th - 07/20/20 03:28 PM

Joe, where was Mama Cat?

I haven't made it out for my walk yet. Got a late start, then daughter called, then had to braid g'son's hair (never thought I'd be saying that) and now it's too late as Lil Soot has an appointment at the vet in a few minutes. I don't have time to go now and get back for that. So will go this afternoon in the horrible heat. Will do what I call shade surfing where I try to stay in the shade and change my route to do so. Will also walk and not run...will be too hot to run for me. My sister thinks 95 is the perfect temp for running rotfl But I will get 'er done.

Ana, do you have dogs that you don't get to walk in the summer? It is literally too hot on the pavement for dogs's paws here in the afternoons. We always try to have ours walked by 8.a.m (which is why Soot goes in the morning as I'm not up). I always cringe when he has to go out in the afternoons, worried he will blister his paws.

Cleaning out the refrigerator is on the docket and I'm not sure what else. Hoping to unstick myself in my game. And will have to contemplate dinner.

Have a great one, everybody wavegirl

Hi everyone. When I looked the Puzzle Garden, I realized I hadn't posted for a while; missed a Squiggle. lol

Spent most of last week or so fighting with my internet provider. Because of the need for fiber-optic cables in my area, there are only two viable vendors; Wowway and Comcast. I've used both and dropped Comcast for terrible customer service.Ever since the quarantine started, I've been very disappointed in Wowway customer service for the first time in the 5 years I've used their service. Nothing I hate more than my cable going down while I'm relaxing and watching the news first thing in the morning. I'm frustrated when I call, then I get a rep who'se polite but stupid. razz It isn't until after I deal with them that I realize something said or done doesn't make sense. Or I realize they talked me out of something I wanted done. slapforehead I can only handle so much of it at a time. At the risk of jinking myself, I'll say that after 10 days of on and off service; not knowing when my internet and/or cable will go down, things seems to have calmed down. rolleyes Have also been without WiFi but I think I know what I have to do, just need to make time to try it and then be prepared to call them back of it doesn't work.

Otherwise, glad to be at home with ac, relaxing with games and Netflix.

I can't believe it's Saturday already. I just drift through the week in my little corner of the world without watching the clock, so to speak. crazy

I haven't done a lot besides taking Missy on our walks, and doing my exercising....which has my shoulder in a lot of pain this morning. I over did it a little.

L4L keep it up. You inspiring me you know. praise

Not to go out and run in the heat though. lol

Having a stroke doesn't really fit into my plans.

Super Saturday ya'll puppy

Ana, I am sooooooooooooo jealous of you. A Bernese Mountain Dog.....such a sweet breed. I would get nothing done petting her all day.

I am back from my shade surfing in the hills. I need a few more of my neighbors to plant trees by the street though, as there are some long stretches in full sun. Grateful to come home to AC, a shower, and cold watermelon! Great recovery food. Garmin has been hacked and down for days so I can't see a lot of the info I usually record from my run, but that is ok. My body doesn't know the difference.

Son came home from camping covered in Chigger bites eek

I'll be cooking a few books and cooking some dinner at some point. Other than that I hope to be gaming in my library.

I sadly heard on the news that Texas in spots is out of hospital beds and are now sending folks home because there is no where to admit. And Hurricane Hannah is heading there. Can only pray it will not be a bad one.

Ya'll be good, stay safe, and have fun wavegirl

Soot if you're like me it's really hard to let go of some things that have no immediate purpose, but you think could come in handy maybe down the line sometime, and you just don't want to throw it out. yes

L4L all the people in Texas who have contracted the virus really concern me. I know how fast it can spread to other people before you're even diagnosed with it, and that's not far from us here.

An awful lot of the people who contracted it did so after ignoring the warnings and going to the beach down in Corpus and Galveston, and to July 4th celebrations without mask. sad

A severe hurricane hitting down there will be a epic disaster. frown

I have had my legs covered in chigger bites, and it's the absolute worst. Sending prayers and good vibes for your son. shocked

Connie I'm glad you got your shopping done. I really hate going to Walmart, and I definitely wear my mask in there. No problems with you being awol though. Everyone has their 'have to' task to perform. wink

I'm trying to recover from working on one of my outdoor projects, that I was a third of the way through, but have been putting it off for weeks because of the heat. Well it was a lot cooler this morning than it has been, and on an impulse I decided to see how much I could get done while it was cooler. I just couldn't bring myself to give it up when it got hotter. I finally finished it around 3:00. It's sunny and hot hot now, but at 3:00 it was still overcast and cooler......but still pretty hot. It drained me. blush

Enjoy your evening everyone. wave

Goodmorning Boomers penguin

Hi Joe sherlockMany here caught from illegal gatherings, beach and demonstrating, not wearing masks - it goes on! Unfortunately it's those people who catch it and pass it onto the innocent ones, but there's not much we can about it but wear our masks and try to be as careful as possible when going out. May you & your family safe & healthy. Ps Wishing you some cooler weather your way especially after all that work you did. wave2

Good afternoon ya'll puppy

Back from a nice run at the park. We had a slight breeze in one section which made it much nicer. Showered and bacon'd and coffee'd and watermelon'd. Ahhhh! Now it's time to do something. Just not sure what. Lots that needs doing and lots that I want to do, but of course there is absolutely No intersection of those two things.

Joe, what did you do in your yard? wavegirl

Joe, you can see my boarder on facebook now. puppy

L4L, you are an inspiration for all! What inspired you to start running? I love running, but I can't anymore. I just keep on hiking one foot in front of the other all day.

connie. hope you had a good weekend!

Taintedfury, Nugget loves those hugs! She's quite the cuddler! Hope all is good by you!

soot, hope your garage project is nearing completion.

It's 107 heat index today and my pups are protesting my not taking them for their daily hike. I may take Nugget out for a swim after hubby gets home from golfing. I feel bad leaving the boarder behind. She'll never make the walk. Happy Sunday!

Hello everyone laugh

I am calling it a day from chores and my garage project

Joe, I tend to hold on to most everything ... oh my goodness ... I just tuck it away in a shoebox which gets put in a bigger box which gets put in the garage lol Well, they used to be stored in the garage ... I just completed a 100% first pass through the garage and it now has "open space" shocked Whew, I am beat! What are you working on outside ... patio?

Hey Ana, yes it is nearing completion ... next step will be some shelving to store what we do keep in the garage more orderly and accessible ... do you have kennels in a room for your boarders?

Hello TaintedFury ... it's always good to see you up and at em in the Diner ... yes, I downsized from 15 boxes of keepsakes ... to three and I'll go through those three again to put in an album which is easier to go through than a box lol

Hi Connie, I hope you cafe run was fun ... I imagine it was ... thanks for the eggs, grits and bacon in the NC this morning

Family, hope you got your chores in order quickly

Time to rest, but first a little gardening

L4L hearts

Have a lovely day Joe Ana TaintedFury Family SpaceQuestFan Gerry Connie L4L manXman ButterFlyBabe Trail_Mystic Mary and anyone else who pops in to say hi wave2

soot, my boarders have free range in my home, including sleeping in my bed. They are treated like Nugget, which is spoiled to the max! lol I do have a have an extra large crate available in the event I have a pup that is destructive when I leave the house and so far it's only been one that has required it. I leave out the ones that are home crated also, because I generally see no reason they can't stay out. There has only been one boarder that I won't allow back. It was such a nightmare that it brought me to tears. rotfl
So glad you got through the initial pass through of the garage! It's hard throwing stuff out, but it feel amazingly good when you finally do it.
