Amazon - 06/08/21 12:43 AM

I think Amazon cancelled my Prime membership. How can I tell for sure? I don't go on there much anymore and can't tell but it looks different to me and I'm pretty sure they never charged my card. Does it say "member" somewhere if you are a member? I never received any notice about it either.

When I go in there now it says "customer since 2004"; no mention of "member"?

Just go to your account and it will tell you whether you are still a member or not. They normally just charge your card once a year for the membership fee. When I go to my Account, there is kind of a dashboard with a bunch of "boxes" showing all my account options, including Prime.

You say, "When I go there now..." Where are you going that you see that message?

I don't see anything on mine that says how long I was a member. Make sure you aren't accessing via an email etc and are doing it by logging in to the real page.
If you click on account , the top right box says Prime. Clicking on that gives your account status.

Well, I don't see anywhere that it says member and I know they didn't charge my card so I don't know why they canceled me. I had been thinking of canceling but never did and I don't think they read my mind. Kind of weird!

Thanks.

And I believe the end of December is when they charge your account for the Prime membership. At least that's when mine is. Like Ana, I also don't have anything about how long I've been a customer in my account.

Where are you at? Are you in your account and at the Dashboard with all the little boxes? Mine doesn't say Member anywhere either. A Prime box is just included.

Where are you at? Are you in your account and at the Dashboard with all the little squares? Mine doesn't say Member anywhere either. A Prime square is just included.

Go to the Amazon main page and log in. Click on the square near the top right that says "Hello oldbroad" over "Accounts and Lists". (Don't choose from the dropdown menu.)

One of your choices will be a box in the top right of that section marked Prime. Click on that to see your plan, if you have one. If you do, it will also tell you when the next renewal date will be. Mine is the beginning of April.

Good luck kissy

At the top of an Amazon page, I see "Accounts and Lists." From there, there is a dropdown menu that says "Memberships and Subscriptions." That should tell you what you have/don't have.

Yes, December but I was not charged.

I am going to www.amazon.com, not clicking through any emails or anything. After I sign in - On the home page there are some big squares. The first one says "hi j customer since 2004". Clicking on "accounts and lists" brings up some rectangles, the top ones being "orders" log in and security" and "prime" (which says "view benefits and payment settings") but if I click on that, it tells me how to get started to become a prime member.

OK, finally we know where you are! If the Prime box tells you how to get started, then you definitely don't have it. Did your credit card change at some point in time? Maybe that's why they couldn't automatically charge you. We get so much benefit from Prime... some of the best TV series we've watched have been from there. Just watched a really good movie when the kids from Colorado were here on Prime too. I also love their Photo storage and Music storage. Living out in the country, I also order a LOT of stuff from Amazon, so it's worth it to me. But if you really don't need all that, then you are already not paying for it!

We also live out in the country and I don't know what I would do without Amazon. We order a lot of stuff from them also. Amazon Prime Video is getting better all the time, too!

Re: Amazon - 06/08/21 01:45 AM

I have been canceled. If I click on a "prime" movie it tells me I can watch for free if I start my 30 day free trial. I have an Amazon card so any changes, they have before I do. That's how I just saw this, as I received a new card and was checking the account to see if it updated the expiration date (which it did - by itself). I used to order a lot but haven't for awhile now. I did take advantage of some of the tv programs and movies but I wasn't sure it was enough to warrant the cost which is why I was thinking of canceling. I'm sure I asked in the forum here about HOW to cancel but I am just as sure that I DID NOT cancel because there was some stuff I wanted to watch, so this is just weird to me!

Anyway, thank you all for checking it out with me!!

And, by the way, it doesn't give an annual price - only a monthly price.

I wonder if I canceled AUTO renew thinking I would get an email that it was time to renew and decide then but they don't send emails, they just don't renew. I'm thinking that's what happened. The monthly fee is more than what the annual fee was but I don't see anything about paying annually now. Oh well. I guess if I decide it's worth it, I'll start it up again.

Re: Amazon - 06/08/21 05:05 AM

The annual fee is $119 right now. That makes sense if you canceled auto-renew.

Re: Amazon - 06/08/21 05:25 AM

That's what I had been paying. It is $12.99/month now and I really don't see anything about paying annually anymore. Canceling auto renew shouldn't mean canceling membership though. It should just mean, let me decide at that time, in my opinion!

Whatever happened to the days when notifications were sent out prior to renewals? Barnes and Noble doesn't pre-notify either. Norton and Malwarebytes do. Whether you are signed up for auto renewal or not, I think notifications should be sent prior, but I guess that's expecting too much.

With Prime, you're either in or out. If you haven't paid for a membership, you are no longer a member. But you can still re-enroll any time you want to. When I click on my Prime box, I am taken to a page where my Prime details are across the top. The second one says my Prime Plan is annual for $119. There is a drop box arrow which says see more plans. When I click on it, it shows me both the annual and the monthly plans.

Maybe your credit card information needed to be updated, if you got a renewal card that has a new expiry date. They might have tried to put the payment through, and of course it wouldn't go through if the new expiry date wasn't added to your account.

Re: Amazon - 06/08/21 06:16 PM

That wasn't the problem hagatha. I'm sure I probably stopped the AUTO renew thinking I would be notified and would decide then whether to keep it or not. I didn't realize stopping auto renew was actually canceling it. Anyway, it probably is not really worth the money to me at this time.

Draclvr, maybe once you sign up for membership, you see that option for the annual payment instead.

Re: Amazon - 06/08/21 07:29 PM

Don't know since I've always had it! Guess you don't have the drop down arrow with the two options then.

Re: Amazon - 06/08/21 08:03 PM

Oh, yes I do see a drop down box now where you can do the annual membership for $119. Sorry about that!

Re: Amazon - 06/08/21 08:17 PM

Cool! That way if you ever decide to sign up again, you won't have to pay that outrageous monthly fee!

It depends on when you started. If you start in June, it will renew next June.
