I was thinking along the same lines earlier today while looking at the news coming out of the LA area. I hope all stay safe!

Oh my god, that terrible LA fire, and it's still out of control. It's horrifying.

Weather certainly can humble a person. My thoughts and prayers are with all in Southern California , and to all who will be experiencing the terrible weather they are forecasting for us. We have stocked up on groceries as we are to receive between 4-8 inches tomorrow.

Hey everyone! So many tornadoes and storm damage, please check in! Such a wide area!

Re: Crazy Weather Disasters - 03/16/25 03:02 AM

Ana, how were things by you? I see there was a confirmed tornado in your area.

Re: Crazy Weather Disasters - 03/16/25 07:02 AM

I hope everyone stays safe with all the stormy weather that continues to plague us all!

Climate change is affecting the weather all over the world! I can't remember the last time we had a "gentle" rain here. When it rains it pours and comes with gusty winds. No more light snow here either...it is always accompanied by wind, freezing rain or sleet making it treacherous!

Re: Crazy Weather Disasters - 03/16/25 01:31 PM

oldbroad, a couple huge roofs off near me, we lost a whole tree from the base across the street from me, but my home is fine, thank goodness. It was an EF-0 and I'm still trying to find it's route. Based on damage reports it was less than a mile from my house. Our sirens went off twice, but I have no basement so we really don't do anything when they go off.
Now it's snowing! LOL

Re: Crazy Weather Disasters - 03/16/25 04:30 PM

I am glad you are safe and your home is fine! I had seen storm trackers driving somewhere around your area and saw two downed trees but no mention of roofs there. That was before I read about the confirmed tornado.

Yup! Snow!

Oh, wow, Ana, that was so close to you too. So glad you were spared. We had some sleet and snow flurries here this morning too!

It's now being reported that there have been at least 37 deaths. This is a horrific weather event. Devastating.

Re: Crazy Weather Disasters - 03/16/25 09:19 PM

Glad to hear you are alright Ana. Sounds like it came close. It's about to hit us but not as severe. Crazy weather for many this time of year. Loss of lives is very sad

Seems like a stream of bad weather instances this year! Knowing lots of members live in the path of all these tornadoes and floods, I hope that all is well by you!

Re: Crazy Weather Disasters - 04/08/25 11:29 AM

Four days and nights of tornado watches and warnings. ( amazing light shows) didn’t get much sleep. Fortunately for us the closest tornado was 3 miles from our house. We were fortunate. There was so much damage north of us from the tornados and flooding. My heart goes out to all affected.

My sister in law had to evacuate from the Jones Fire in New Jersey. Thankfully she was allowed to return home and all is well. Praying they get the fire contained and no one is affected.

Re: Crazy Weather Disasters - 05/01/25 07:53 PM

Ana,
I live in Ocean County, but the fire is about 10-15 miles southwest of me. As of this morning, it's 80% contained and has burned over 15,300 acres. No lives nor homes were lost, but an awning company that backed up to the wildlife preserve was destroyed. A man has been arrested for starting the fire by setting a bonfire to burn wooden pallets and then not putting it out properly.

Re: Crazy Weather Disasters - 05/01/25 07:59 PM

LadyK, you know my sister in law, she was the one who drove to check on you when the hurricanes came through and no one could reach you. hearts The fire was a mile away from her when they evacuated. So many woods around there and their lot is heavily wooded as well. It's so sad people don't have brains when they do stuff like that.

Re: Crazy Weather Disasters - 05/02/25 09:32 PM

OMG! I forgot about that! Tell her thank you from me.

One of the guys who is renovating my small bathroom was also evacuated because of the fire. He showed me the arial view of the burn, which stopped less than a mile from his house.

Re: Crazy Weather Disasters - 05/03/25 02:55 AM

I read they found the guy who started the fire using satellite images and GPS.

Re: Crazy Weather Disasters - 05/03/25 03:42 AM

As if fires aren't bad enough, but people starting them either on purpose or by being careless is even more sad .

No kidding, oldbroad. The stupid is strong...

Praying for all those caught in the flooding in Texas. What a tragedy.

Re: Crazy Weather Disasters - 07/05/25 02:24 AM

That Texas flooding is horrible. Children are missing from a summer camp. Such devastation.

This is just a horror...

Re: Crazy Weather Disasters - 07/06/25 12:15 AM

Unfortunately, I've only seen more bad news about this today. I was hoping maybe the girls would be found safe somewhere.

Re: Crazy Weather Disasters - 07/06/25 03:07 AM

I thought one of the American authority figures who was featured on BBC TV worded his comments very well when he said that some of those people unaccounted for (to date) could perhaps just not be able to make contact rather than actually be considered as “lost”.

I don’t know if that is still relevant as I haven’t seen the news today.

Whatever, it is an awful situation sad
