Beyond Atlantis 2, Install Problems.

New out of the box, 3 disc. Disc one loaded fine and asked if I wanted to install diretx 7? No I have directx 9.0c
It didn't ask to load disc 2 or 3. Click on desktop shortcut and game will come up and show DreamCather and Adventure Comlpany then it shows that it has encountered a problem and has to shut down, notify Microsoft?? No
My system, windowx XP, ATM Processor 3200+, Nivida GeForce 8500GT. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and asked it to load directx 7. It stills stops at same place. Help - Thanks

Do a search of this Forum for your game. It has been discussed before and there are some links to a patch with WinXP.

That much is normal. The game is old -- from before full installs to the hard drive were commonplace for adventure games. It's meant to play from the CD most of the time.

Thank you for the sendspace file cd9vf3. I never would have found this site.I downloaded it and unziped it and it went into Beyond Atlantis File.
It didn't help. I still get problem message right after The Adventure Co. Logo
Robert Gault responded to my request for help and I searched this forum or I thought I searched this forum, but all I found was my reqyest and 3 replys.
Do you have any other suggestions? If not I'll just put this game back on the shelf.

Make sure there are no background programs before and after you install the game. Like anti virus or firewall. Also make sure you turn the video and audio acceleration down a notch before playing. Before you start playing the game, on the shortcut on your desktop right click on it, choose properties,click on combatibility,click on run this program in windows 98/ME,then put a check mark beside disable visual themes and put a check mark beside turn off advanced text services and then hit apply.
Start the game from the shortcut and let us know if that worked ok ?

We are going to need more information on your system and some details of the error message to provide help. Your video card should be just fine. I'm not sure what you mean by ATM 3200+ but suspect you meant AMD 3200+ which would also be fine.
What is your sound card and software?

I have Beyond Atlantis II on my WindowsXP system and it plays without problems. I do have audio hardware acceleration reduced by two clicks to prevent some minor sound issues.

You will need to have CD#2 in your drive for the game to start. However, if no CD is mounted, there should not be an error and the game will ask for the CD.

With the game installed on your hard drive, do you see a directory tree as follows:
Beyond Atlantis II or whatever name you used
beyond atlantis2.exe
spr_p5.dll
spr_p6.dll
Unist.isu
Datas
17 sub directories

It may help you out if not now, later in the game.

I have 4 people trying to help me. Robert Gault, Jenny 100,

Update: My processor is an AMD 3200+ and nivida GeForce 8500GT
Sound system, not sure, but have never had a sound problem.

In Windows Exploer, Programs/Dream Catcher/ Beyond Atlantis 2/
I have Datas, Beyond Atlantis 2.exe, spr_p5.dll, spr_p6.dll,
ininst.isu. Datas has 17 files in it.

I used add/remove programs and deleated the whole game. I hit
ctr/alt/del and got into windows task manager. Applications
was empty. Processes had 47 items in it.

I reinstalled the game and got the same, right after dreamcatcher
and adventure company logo it comes up with Beyone Atlantis 2.exe
has encountered a problem and needs to close. I check don't send
to Microsoft.

Windows Explorer: Under Dreamcatcher/ the file Beyond Atlantis 2.exe Properties it has 3.21 mb, Oct 17,2001. I deleted this file. I ran the downloaded patch file that Jenny 100 had suggested and unziped it. It put a new file into the game again
called Beyound Atlantis 2.exe and it not has 3.26 mb May 27, 2003. Under properties, combality mode I selected win98/me,
checked disable visual thems and turned off test services.

Started game with and without disc 2 in drive D. from within windows explorer Dreamcatcher Beyound Atlantisd 2.exe. Still same problem. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US. Thanks for the help.

Run DXDiag, save it to a file and post the content into a reply -

Click Start, Run - enter DXDiag - and press OK. After it completes press the Save all Information button (you can save it to the desktop or any other folder on your PC). Open the file with Notepad, and copy and paste the content in a thread.

I ran dxdiag and remembered how to adjust the display tab and brought it down a few clicks as was mentioned earler in the reply post.
I also went back to windows explorer and let it play in XP.
