glitches in game:Drawn:trial of shadow - 12/07/11 01:00 AM

I know it's a casual game and hoping I'm at the right place to ask for some help. I wrote to Big Fish game; somebody is nicely ansered me. I've done everything she asked me to try, but the game is still crashing.Even dr. Felix analyse program didn't seem to find the trouble. I've updated Adobe flash and Shockwave programs like it was suggested to me. I've got window XP SP 3. It should be enough to play. Can you help because I would very much like to finish it. Thank you. At what point is the game crashing, sali? There were some issues with crashing which was supposedly fixed with a game update. I had it happen to me too.

It crahes at different oints when for example after following the cardinal I pick up a storybook page and the loading doesn't happen, it stays at 0%. But the worst thing happening,is I can't enter the first windmill to put the king, queen and 2 broken statues. My graphic card is AHD 760G. Maybe it's to old. Do you know where I can update it and is it costly? And also do you know how I can fix it with a game update? Thanks Draclvr for answering me. Sali

I've never heard of AHD 760G.
I looked up AHD 760G and maybe you mean AMD 760G, which is a processor, not a video card.

To get your video card, click the Windows button in the lower left of your screen, type
dxdiag
in the Start Search box, and click the Enter key on your keyboard.
After dxdiag opens, select the Display tab.
Your video card (or onboard graphics) will be listed on the left and the date of your drivers on the right.

Sorry Jenny about that error. you are right it is AMD 760G. The lady of Big Fish game was advising me to have a more recent one, but my husband says it can support windows XP-SP3 (wich we have) and even Windows 7. So I think it's the game that has some troubles. I'll ask for a replacement coupon and play another one. Thank you for taking the time answering me. Sali

The motherboard is not the same thing as the graphics chipset/video card. You could have the best motherboard in the world and it won't make a difference if you have an inferior graphics chipset. As far as I can tell, the AMD 760G uses integrated Radeon HD 3000 graphics. That's what it says in the ***Wikipedia*** anyway. That's pretty slow. The AMD 760G also has only a single processor, not a dual, tricore, or quad processor. But that would only be a problem if the processor was too slow, and even then it would only play the game slow -- not refuse to play it at all.

Plus, this computer would just barely run Windows 7 and then it would not be able to run it well.

Thanks both Jenny and Draclvr for giving me those informations. I thought we would solve all our problems my husband and I if we bought another video card. That's what we did yesterday; I'm giving you the mark : it's an Asus 5450 512 Megs DDR2 Pcie. I was able to play all the game even if it crashed a few times and when I tried to replay it the earlier problem was there again (freezing when I tried to enter the first windmill). I know that the card we bought is not very strong but the dealer that sold it to us assured me that for this kind of game it was enough. Is it enough realy? Or do you think that some active program in my computor could cause those problems? I just bought the game "book of unwritten tales" and I'm just hoping that it will run well. Sorry about the long conversation but I have much trust in gameboomers moderators and members. Sali

There may be a driver conflict between the old drivers and the new drivers. You might try uninstalling your video drivers (Windows will use standard VGA drivers while the ATI drivers are uninstalled), and reinstalling them. You may have to reboot after uninstalling. Also you may need to disable the onboard graphics in the BIOS if they're not disabling themselves automatically.

I'd agree that a 512MB Asus 5450 (which uses AMD Radeon HD 5450 chipset) should be enough to play this game.

I'm so glad you're getting the game to work, sali. Maybe reinstalling the drivers following Jenny's directions will help. Obviously the old video chipset was part of the problem. I wonder if you know how much RAM (memory) this computer has?

Re: glitches in game:Drawn:trial of shadow - 12/09/11 03:26 PM

Draclvr, to answer you question, I went to see the components of my computer : in french it says"mémoire physique totale-4096.00Mo", so I think that in english RAM might be 4 GO.
Jenny, I phoned the dealer and he told me (consulting the components of our computer) that the unboard graphics in BIOS were disabling themselves automaticaly when they put the new graphic card and that there isn't a conflict between old drivers and new ones. I'll try to replay the game full screen and see if the problem still happens. Thanks again both of you. Sali

Does the video card have enough on-board RAM? Lack of enough RAM can cause problems as well.

She put a new 512 MB 5450 video card into the computer, so it should work now.
