How do I input my Tex Murphy saves?

How do I input my Tex Murphy saves? - 05/22/19 03:21 AM

We just upgraded to windows 10, which means I have to download everything again. One of the things I would like to keep, though, is all the saves from the Tex Murphy game Tesla Effect. I had reached the ending I wanted and had collected all the Playbubs so the locked door was open.

How do I input all those saves? I have to find them first.

Once you find them - I assume on your Windows 7 - copy to a flash drive. If they are in a specific folder, you may have to create one. It depends on where they are saved. You might have to install the game, start it and create a save to have the file ready. Them import from the flash drive.

I found them in my app data in 4 different folders as I played the game 4 times. I think I'll have to load all of them into the game as I don't know which one is the one I want.
Since they're already in folders, do I need to make new ones or can I just load the flash drive and them the game - somehow. (How do I do that by the way?)
Can I simply import the saves directly from the hard drive?

Weirdest thing. I installed the game after finding the saves and having them sent to my new drive out of the old drive...and when I started the game they were just there! Go figure.

Go figure indeed! Lucky you... so hope you can find where you were and get back into the game!

That depends on how you "upgrade" to Windows 10.
If you do an "in place installation" (I think that's what it's called) Windows will back up what it considers to be personal files and put them back after the "upgrade." So even if you have to re-install programs like games, it will remember user documents, and possibly the saves of certain games (depending on where the game puts them).

So this

is not particularly weird at all.
Not something you'd want to absolutely depend on, but this is how the "in place installation" is supposed to work.

Exactly what we were talking about with GreyFuss. That's the way it's supposed to work.

Actually, we had to do a clean new install because Windows 7 stopped working and I couldn't boot it up at all. I've been migrating stuff from my old drive to the new drive. I noticed that the save game folder for this Tex game was on the old drive so I copied to the new one.
