Did you check the system requirements before you got the game? I'd have to guess the laptop doesn't meet the minimum specs. You may be able to go into the Options in the game and reduce all the video effects. Let me do a search on the system requirements for the game.

EDIT: Does your laptop meet these system requirements I copied from Steam?

AMD Phenom II X4 955 - 4 Core, 3.2 GHz
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: 2GB / Radeon R9 200 Series or Nvidia GeForce GTX660
DirectX: Version 11

Also, if there is a custom cursor for this game, try turning it off. This sometimes helps with floating cursors. And even if your computer does meet the system requirements, apparently it is rather poorly optimized at this point. On the Steam forum, the developer says this:

Quote
We're still working on optimization. In several next patches you should see improved performance and better framerate.

This sounds to me like even if your computer does meet the system requirements that the situation for some players is far from ideal.

Glad to hear you were finally able to visit your daughter in Lanzarote, maggsie. wave

Re: nemizis new journey 2 - 07/25/21 03:32 PM

Thank you, Draclvr and Marian. My son-in-law (Tech guy) checked your instructions tried everything with no luck ,apparently This (his) laptop has only 1.7 GHz so no good, I will have to wait till I get home and install in on my own laptop.
I am going to enjoy the rest of my stay in the sun . Heaven knows when I will be able to get back here with this dreadful virus.
Thank you all again and stay safe XXX

Good that you have another laptop at home on which you can play the game. Maybe there will also be a patch or two by then and the game will run even better. You take care too, Maggsie. smile

At least you can play it when you get back home! Enjoy your stay in the sun. It's pretty awful here in my state in the US too, so please take care!

Hi ,I am back home now and have the floating curser on my home laptop but not as bad. I will try and turn it off to see if that works Marian. I may be able to handle it .Even so this game is complicated, the jury is still out on it LOL

Re: nemizis new journey 2 - 08/21/21 07:26 PM

Not sure if this means anything but under settings/other, you can change the camera sensitivity. I have played just a very small portion f the prologue (which I think is the first chapter of the game) and when I set the camera sensitivity all the way down, it didn't seem like I could move around in the game very well. Could this be part of the problem?

They were supposed to be working on an update for this game that would improve game performance, but I do not know if that has happened yet.

Re: nemizis new journey 2 - 08/23/21 02:35 PM

Remember when I posted the minimum computer specs required for this game? Did you check your laptop at home to see if it meets those requirements?

If all you have is integrated graphics, there is a good chance this issue can't be solved if you've already turned down all the graphics options and gotten rid of the special cursor.

Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: 2GB / Radeon R9 200 Series or Nvidia GeForce GTX660

Hi Draclvr. I have checked system and this is what I have.

Processor Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-6200U CPU @ 2.30 GHz 2- 40GHz
Installed RAM 8.00GB (7.84 GB usable)
Device . ID. 7025E83C-F9E1-4F2E-DOB203C98BE9
Product ID. 00325-80250-63712-AAOEM
System type. 64 - bit operating system,64-basedprecessor
I looked for graphics but couldn't find them.
I guess its not enough.
Thanks

Re: nemizis new journey 2 - 08/24/21 01:49 PM

Thanks, maggsie! You couldn't find graphics because you don't have a stand-alone video card. Your graphics is built in to the processor and it is the Intel HD 520. Which unfortunately is not going to be enough to run your game very well. All you can do is turn down all the graphics effects and remove any special cursors. If you've done all that and you still have the floating cursor, your integrated graphics is just not going to be enough. Sorry!

This is a nice enough laptop, but it's just not made for gaming other than casual games from Big Fish types. So, when you are looking at games in the future, be sure to check the computer spec requirements first.

Re: nemizis new journey 2 - 08/24/21 03:04 PM

A new laptop for gaming will probably cost more than a new couch! In the meantime, this will help you determine if you can run certain games. Not all are listed and most are dark side, but there are also a lot of adventure games. It's called "Can I Run It" and will check your system requirements for you.

Re: nemizis new journey 2 - 08/24/21 08:20 PM

I'd go for the new laptop myself!

Actually though, I am not sure what you even mean by a "floating cursor". There is just a circle that activates when you can interact with something. You are using the WASD keys to try to move around right, and guiding yourself with the mouse?

Re: nemizis new journey 2 - 08/25/21 07:40 AM

Thanks draclver That looks brilliant I will definitely use that. site. I can get a new sofa for about £ 12.000 to £15.00. So the jury is out LOL
Thanks again.
Maggsie

Hi Oldbroad The curser floats at the beginning and when the game starts it turns into a circle but it floats.
(I guess it gets high with all the lovely scenery )LOL
Thanks again

Re: nemizis new journey 2 - 08/25/21 08:57 PM

Hi maggsie, to find your Video card Information and much more about your laptop just follow these easy steps:

How to find out what video card I have on my computer?
1 Type “ dxdiag ” in the search bar. 2 Open the dxdiag app that appears. 3 Click the Display tab. From here you will get detailed information on the video card such as its name, manufacturer, and memory just to name a few.

Re: nemizis new journey 2 - 08/25/21 09:29 PM

She doesn't have a video card, Starcom. As I said in the post above, she has the Intel HD 520 which is integrated into the CPU. Hence her floating cursor problems!

Re: nemizis new journey 2 - 08/25/21 11:22 PM

This is true Draclvr, but still, it is a good way to find out what type of video card you have and is useful for now and in the future.
Take care
Ray
