I can't run Destination Treasure Island on Windows 10. Can someone help me? - 10/13/21 04:19 PM

Hello, everyone! I'm a big fan of old games. I bought it on GameBillet. It has the Starforce protection and I can't run it on Windows 10. When I open it, only a black screen appears. The DxWnd user (Gho) tried to help me by telling me to unzip the wined3d.rar files in the game directory, but it didn't work.

I really appreciate any help. Thanks very much!

Unfortunately, Starforce cannot run on Windows 10 or on Windows 7. No workaround that I have found in 5 years that are safe.

GOG has a lot of games that have been tweaked or had DRM removed to play on Windows 10, but I checked and Destination Treasure Island isn't one of them.

Maybe someone else will have an idea for you.

welcome to GameBoomers. I have moved your post over to Glitches due to this being a technical problem.

Big Fish Games sells the game as a download here. It works well on my Windows 7 computer but I have never tried it on Windows 10. If it did not work, though, they would give you a code so that you could get a replacement for another game.

This game also has issues with certain NVidia cards causing screen flickering, but we have a fix for that right here in the forum that I could pass along to you if needed.

I'm glad to hear Big Fish has it for download. Never thought of looking for it there! I imagine if it works on Windows 7 and 8 as advertised, it would also work on Windows 10. Both Windows 7 and 8 received an update several years ago which also blocked certain forms of DRM from running on it. So, I assume Big Fish might have removed it.

Good news!

Yes, I would think it would run on Windows 10, too. I just did not want to say with a certainty being as I had never tried it. smile

There is a NO CD fix for that game and it might just work to bypass the Starforce problem, but you would probably have to completely uninstall the game, the reinstall it and Do not start the game with the supplied Icon, then install the NO CD fix and use that Icon or .exe file.

Good luck.

Thanks for the welcome and all the messages. It's always good to be in a place where people are interested in helping. I just got the NoCd from Vitality and it didn't work either. I think I will give up and buy it soon at the BigFish store. I will keep trying. If I do, I'll be back to let you know. Thank you all.

If you don't want to join the Game Club, (although you can always cancel it even after having only purchased one game), just wait for a sale that includes nonmembers, which should not be too long from now. You will save a good bit of money that way.

I have this game installed on my Windows 7 but just downloaded (from Big Fish) to Windows 10 to see if it works or not (and I can stand a replay). It required me to install .NET Framework 3.5 as shown in the link below. The game seems to run fine.

Oh, good! That means they have removed the DRM. Thank you, oldbroad!!

I have the NoCD fix if anybody wants it. It's also available at GameCopyWorld. The wine3d.rar files will be necessary if you have a Nvidia graphics card.

When clicking on the installer, nothing happens. But looking at the windows resources, it says I already have Net3.5. A user told me that it is possible to run the game when shopping at BigFish. Thanks.

Hello, everyone. Good news. It's working perfectly. After doing it all over again (extracting files from "wined3d" and extracting "NoCd from Vitality"), I checked the option in the executable properties to disable full screen optimization. Remembering for new members: The game was purchased from Gamebillet and comes with StarForce protection. Thanks again for your attention and tips.
