Internet - 01/11/24 09:58 PM

I am having problems with my internet. Don't know if it's the provider or my equipment or what. However, I tried some troubleshooting but now I am not sure, should my ethernet connection be set to public or private?

Private right?

Yes, private.

What is your internet doing? Since you have a wired connection, it should be quite stable.

Going in and out every few seconds. The broadband light is blinking green a lot and then red. Stealing moments when I can.

Definitely sounds like something to contact your internet provider about. Did you try rebooting your router?

I unplugged things and also hit the reset button on the modem. It was happening yesterday too but not as bad as today. It's probably the wires in the alley and this weather. That has happened in the past.

When I lose my internet because of a power outage out here in the country, it's miserable!

I didn't have ANY problems yesterday but today I already have. But now, I see a story in our local news that AT&T Uverse TV and Internet (I only have the internet and phone) is experiencing nationwide outages.

Well, that probably explains it then. Hope they get it figured out soon because their customer base is huge!

The thaw has started outside and I'm back to fighting with it again today. Not a single blip yesterday. I guess I will have to find the energy to make the call and deal with these people.

Good luck... I'd rather take a beating than deal with AT&T "customer service."

Hi oldbroad!

Give AT&T a call if you have not yet called

I had to call them yesterday because my internet speeds were not up to par. Using this AT&T Official Internet Speedrun Test I was only pulling 200mbps instead of 800+ on the new computer hardwired. The automated system answered the phone. After locating our account it asked me to tell it what was wrong. I answered "internet speed". it ran a test on our system and found nothing wrong with it and then connected me to a representative. Two rings and I was talking to support. It turns out my "nic card" could be the culprit. The W10 was getting those high speeds but not the W11. I have to call Geek Squad today. AT&T has always been very helpful and quick in solving our issues. They might even be able to tell you it is the weather or outages

There are a few support numbers out there. This is the number I used . Scroll down to the bottom, you will see the "Give us a call"

I was on the phone for 30 min with them running tests on the system and us narrowing it down

Anyhow give them a call. They have also upgraded their modems not too long ago, at least the fiber optics modems. Ask them about that. You could be due for a new modem

Orion, you have got to the first human I've every heard of who had a positive customer service experience with AT&T! My normal experience is hours, not minutes!

I recently upgraded my speed to 100 Mbps and wasn't getting it on my desktop. My network adapter card is an 802.11 ac protocol which is more that fast enough for it. I had a USB 3.0 network adapter here which I use for trouble shooting computers I work on. It is the same protocol. I switched over to the USB adapter and boom! Got my speeds! Who knows.

Hope you get some answers, oldbroad.

Re: Internet - 01/19/24 05:28 PM

I never seem to have any trouble with AT&T Drac but other calls made to support.....Yeah it can be a pain, one time I was told an hour wait. I hung up and tried again later. That support number could by key

I will look into that USB adapter after I call Geek Squad with this problem. It could be the nic card. If I need any further info on this adapter I will start another thread. Thank you Drac
