Just in case you are not aware, this game was also released under the title of Broken Sword: The Angel of Death, which is the fourth game in the Broken Sword series. I mention this because you might be thinking that this was a completely different game in the series that you hadn't heard of before.

It's on Steam for 5 euro's

If you have windows 7 or 10 and trouble launching the game
On the view discussions category of the game

(on the right hand side of the purchase page on steam)
there is a solution to the problem cool

Thanks Rob. I believe Bluto had some troubles with downloading games from Steam and thus is looking for physical CDs now (if I am remembering correctly). wave

Marian
You are correct, I am just trying to see if any of the game boomers have put this
Game on the shelf in hopes of selling it or trading it
I did check and E- Bay has a used one for sale.
I will purchase that one if none of the game boomers have one

Thank You

It is $5.99 at GOG.
https://www.gog.com/game/broken_sword_4

The UK disc version (Broken Sword 4: Angel of) has SecuROM v7 on it, so it probably won't work on any Windows later than XP unless you can find a working NoCD. I don't know if the North American disc version (Secrets of the Ark) includes the SecuROM crippleware.
GOG's version is DRM-free (SecuROM-free).

As far as I know, Bluto doesn't want to download from GOG either. That's why I did not mention it to him.

Then he should avoid buying the UK version of the game (with Angel in the title) because without a NoCD the game is unlikely to work on any computer with Windows 7/8/10 because of the SecuROM crippleware -- and I assume he doesn't want to try to locate a NoCD to download if even downloading from GOG is too much hassle.

Very good information, and I am glad that you are remembering the specifics about this, Jenny. Hopefully Bluto will see your posts here and make sure that he gets the right version.

The Adventure Company published the "Secrets of the Ark" version while THQ or Focus published the UK "Angels" version of BS4. The publisher determines what if any DRM a game uses, so the "Secrets of the Ark" version may use different DRM or no DRM at all.

As far as I remember, the problem with "Broken Sword 4" is that the original disk version is unplayable on any computer with Windows 7/8/10 because not only of the DRM, but of its incompatibility with multi-core CPUs as well. The characters are not visible on screen: only their black shadows...
I have no idea if the noCD fixes this problem for the US release, but I am sure that there is no fix for the Russian disk release I have: so it is either Windows XP (preferably on an older PC) or a Steam/GOG version (which works fine).

Thanks for the information, Iurii. I've read about the problem with black shadows before, but didn't know what caused it.
***This thread at Adventuregamers*** mentions character textures being blacked out.
The "fix" someone invented and posted a link to in the thread is archived at
https://web.archive.org/web/20071208121133/http://www.immolo.net/?p=31
None of the pictures were archived, only the text, and not only does it not look like something I'd recommend doing, it looks like it's only for XP.

The NoCD certainly would have no effect on the black shadows problem, but oldmariner mentioned a patch back in 2012 in this thread
https://www.gameboomers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/819138/Broken_Sword_4.html
Oldmariner's link to the fix on the Revolution website was archived here
https://web.archive.org/web/20120722005132/https://revolution.co.uk/bs4/support
They also mention using the "Set Affinity" fix. Oldmariner says one of the files removes the DRM, but the patches are only for the 2006 "Angel" version. The links to the patch files on the archived website still work.

I don't know for sure whether or not the "Secrets of the Ark" version was patched, or whether more recent versions of the "Angel" version were patched.

Unfortunately Affinity setting and even BIOS disabling did not work for me (I mean, for the Russian disk version on Windows 7).
The official patch does do the trick, if I remember it correctly, but only for the UK disk version.
Then again, the US disk version could be already patched?
