-1. On a recent trip to England, soot went on a pub-crawl in the town of Urbanville, visiting five pubs and having a different British food favourite in each - as well as a pint of the pub's best, of course. Given the clues below, can you determine the order in which soot visited the pubs of Urbanville, the food he had in which pub and in which street of the town the establishment was situated?
a. soot was in the Yeoman's Bow earlier than the pub in Deep St.; he visited the Deep St. local earlier in the crawl than the pub where he tried the Scotch Eggs.
b. Neither the pub in High St. nor the one in Cathedral Close is the one where soot enjoyed a Cornish Pasty.
c. soot stopped at the Fox and Hounds earlier than at the pub in King's Cross; his visit to the latter came earlier in the pub-crawl than the stop at the pub where he ordered a Chip Butty.
d. soot had Smoked Mackerel at the last pub he visited.
e. The George and Dragon isn't the pub soot visited in Cathedral Close.
f. The Fox and Hounds isn't the pub soot tried on the Oxford Road.
g. The dish tried at the White Hart wasn't the Chip Butty.
h. After leaving the pub where he had a Ploughman's Lunch, soot next stopped at the Adam and Eve.
-2. A,B,C,D, and E have just finished taking a test, and were making remarks about their
results. The remarks of the first and second place finishers are false, while the others are true.
A: "D was third"
B: "E was not first"
C: "I was not last"
D: "C was lower than B"
E: "B was second"
What were their places?
and a couple of lateral-thinking ones:
-3. Mrs Worrier drove off from the third tee and the ball flew over a small hill out of sight. When she got there, she found a ball that was the same make as hers and identical to it in every way. However, she knew immediately it was not her ball. How?
-4. Why did the cast-list of a well-known 70s movie include four totally fictitious actors/actresses?
