Letters of the Law - example added - 05/17/19 07:26 PM

There are some weird spelling rules at work here! To decode each list, you'll have to figure out what its rule is. First, see if you can recognize the category to which the words in a group belong. Then identify the pattern to the weird spellings. Finally, think of another member that would fit the category AND provide the "rule" for the funny spellings.

For example, given the group Cappams, Larsonams, Schulzams, Trudeauams is comprised of the names of cartoonists with the letters AMS added. So ADDAMS becomes the new member that works for the list and defines the rule.

Correct category, correct change, wrong example. The example has to explain the rule, not just follow it. smile

These are very, very tough puzzles.

3. These are all salt water geographical locations with at least one word of the name containing the adjacent letters ea, the rule being that b is inserted before ea and an extra e after ea, thus another example would be The Dbeaed Sbeae (unless perhaps ea has to be contained between consonants). crazy

That would be another good example, Lex, but it doesn't define the rule of change. smile
