Rog's Rag-bag - 03/25/21 05:31 PM

Maths, logic, trivia, puns, general silliness - an assortment of stuff too disparate to go under any other title. In other words, same old rubbish... [Linked Image]

-1. Snoopy joins a plot to kidnap Winston Churchill. What's the (groan-making) book/film?

-2. Houses in a road are numbered 1,2,3,4 etc up one side of the street, then continuing back down the other side. If number 23 is opposite number 48, how many houses are there in the street?

-3. Which letter should replace the question mark and why?
L V T
F A Y
M E ?

-4. A boy says "I have as many brothers as sisters". His sister says "I have twice as many brothers as sisters". How many brothers and sisters in the family?

5. (Another groan-maker) Four siblings deal with problems of faith, doubt and reason in the context of a modernizing Russia, whilst manufacturing assault rifles. What's the book/film?

6. How many strings does a harp have?

-7. A cowboy rides into town on Friday. He stays three days, then rides out of town on Friday. How?

-8. I’m looking for a four-word sentence, where all four 5-letter words are anagrams of each other. The whole sentence describes an act of culinary larceny committed against a girl by a poet.

-9. Suppose you have 1000 cubes and arrange them into a 10x10x10 cube. Glue all the cubes together. Wait for the glue to dry and submerge the entire block into a vat of paint. Assume the big cube is airtight (no paint gets in between the individual cubes). How many individual cubes have some paint on them?

-10. One for those of us who go back to good old DOS - What do you get when you cross Dracula with a car salesman?

Re: Rog's Rag-bag - 03/26/21 04:32 PM

Flotsam - good call!

Don't think so Lex. If it was 80, no 23 would be just past the mid-point, so the one opposite would be just past the mispoint on the other side, i.e. around no 60 think

You may well do a "rolleyes", michele! lol

Re: Rog's Rag-bag - 03/26/21 11:06 PM

2. 70 wave

After #23, there are 47 more houses. 23 + 47 = 70.
Likewise, there are 22 more houses after #48. 48 + 22 = 70.
