1. 14 clubs. I had to learn these trivial facts since I moved to a golf course community last year. That's all they talk about.

2. My Mum loved crib (rest her soul) and we played it endlessly. Never got close to 29 though!

You need a Jack and three fives, then cut the fourth five in the same suit as the Jack. That gives you 8 ways to make 15 (16 points) four of a kind (12 points) and the Jack "nob" (1 point)

I knew the cribbage answer also. I used to play cribbage with my husband and he always seemed to make the 28 point hands but never managed to get his Nobs for the 29. I on the other hand struggled to make more than one 15-2 with an occasional run of 3. Cribbage definitely was not my game.

Good call, manxman! wave

Similar memories, SD - being taught by my father, chanting out "15-2, 15-4, pair 6" (that was a typical score for me!) Seems like the game has died the death? Don't actually know anyone of my friends playing it nowadays...

My family plays cribbage every year at our reunion. Several have custom boards. It's very competitive and lots of fun. I can't help but wonder who made up the wacky game in the first place.

My husband played it when he was in college, and I still have his board and pegs. I never learned how to play.

The same guy who made up the rules to pinochle (including spelling it that way instead of pea knuckle.)
