I’m sorry your checks seem to be missing. When did you expect them to arrive? I wouldn’t jump to conclusions about the postman. It would be a very serious crime for him to steal them. Since your mail was mistakenly delivered to a neighbor, it may just be that they went in someone else’s mailbox. Your best bet is to contact the agency that issued the checks. They should be willing to replace the checks after a reasonable amount of time has passed. If they were stolen and cashed , it may be more difficult. Do you have the option of direct deposit into a bank account? That would avoid worrying about the mail. We have our social secuirity checks direct deposited and the money is in our account right away.

What is cesar? Do you get a $60 check every week? Or is it a matter of the checks covering a total allowance for $60/week for groceries? Again, do you have the option to have the money direct deposited and have a debit card.? You could have the money direct deposited into a checking account and use the debit card at the store to pay for groceries. Or am I misunderstanding something about the checks? Are they actual checks or something else?

What are the 4 “cesars“ your husband had to buy? Were the checks you were expecting supposed to come Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving? If so, not that late. With a holiday during the week, late mail is to be exspected since there’s one whole day’s mail behind and people try to mail earlier, increasing volume.
Does your sister make out the checks and send them to you? Or does she receive checks on your behalf and then send them or checks for the grocery money on to you? What about your husband? Is his credit bad too? Do you and he have a checking account? When did your sister mail the checks? If she made out and mailed the checks and you don’t get them in a timely manner, she can stop payment. If they were stolen and cashed by someone else, the bank may be able to track it down. I’m sorry if I’m not understanding your situation other than you suspect the postman of stealing your checks. We have no way of knowing if that’s the case.

I wonder too... what are the four "cesars" that your husband had to buy? Right now the mail is massively messed up with reduced hours for mail delivery people and increased volume of mail. They were supposed to have fixed it, but I don't know if it ever happened. To be honest, the mail is the last thing I would use for a check right now. Is there any way your sister could get you a debit card she could deposit $60 on every week like Sparkle suggested?

Actually, I think all you need in order to get a debit card is a bank account. Bad credit shouldn’t matter since you’re not applying for credit. family, it may be a good time to go over with your sister how your money should be handled since it seems you believe the mail to be unreliable.
Also, agree wih Drac that mail should be expected to be late this time of year with the volume of packages the post office has to handle. But we’ve never had problems with our mail or mail carrier. Maybe because we’re in a small town. Our mail carrier is awesome and a sweet lady. She carries treat for the dogs on her route and always leaves packages on our doorstep. When we have a substitue carrier, they often try to stuff the smaller packages in the mailbox instead of taking the time to come to the door and ring the doorbell. We send our carrier a generous check at Christmas in thanks for her good work..
But I realize such good service isn’t necessarily the norm.

I'm glad to hear our mail carrier is like yours, Sparkle! We are in a rural area and Phil always brings stuff up to the house and puts it in the garage. He and our UPS driver both get a good tip at Christmas too!

Was it a problem that your husband had to buy the dog food? So, your sister makes out the checks and mails them? Again, maybe you need to figure out an alternative since you believe your mail to be unreliable.

Couldn't the sister and family have a joint debit card? That way her sister could deposit the money and family could pull it out.

Definitely lots of options that wouldn't involve using the mail. I know I sure wouldn't trust the mail for check right now!

So many options nowadays that would not involve mailed checks, if your sister has online banking she can transfer the amount directly into your account, you do not have to have online banking to receive it, and that's just one of many options.
With the oncoming rush of Christmas mail, I would expect even more delays in the mail.
Hope you can work something out with your sister that works well for both of you.
