This maybe one to watch out for but probably for us in the UK will not be screened until the winter.
Hopefully it won’t be turned into another fictitious soap opera because there is absolutely no evidence that either Emily or Anne had ever taken a lover. The real life story of the Bronte sisters is more than capable of holding the viewers interest without the inclusion of breathy sighs and make believe bedroom gymnastics.

The BBC quote on the series.

To Walk Invisible:

The Bronte Sisters will be filmed in and around Yorkshire, where they lived.
Charlotte, whose works included Jane Eyre, died aged 38; while Emily, who wrote Wuthering Heights, died aged 30; and Anne, who died aged 29, wrote The Tenant Of Wildfell Hall.
They all struggled with their brother's behavior, which became increasingly difficult after his failed love affair.
BBC One controller Charlotte Moore said: "It's an extraordinary tale of family tragedy and their passion and determination, against the odds, to have their genius recognized in a male 19th-Century world."
The programme will also explore how their self-educated father, who grew up in poor, rural Ireland, encouraged his children to become passionate about literature.

I had never heard the story of the sisters before. Sounds interesting. thumbsup

It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

I've read much about the Bronte family (some of my favourite novels are by the Bronte sisters) and feel the BBC is certainly the best one to do their story justice.

Thanks for the notice, Cari thumbsup

I absolutely agree Mad, you cannot beat the BBC when it comes to a more true representation of history and their continuity department is very strict in getting things right.
Emily’s first published book was a book of poems and published under a male name which tells you a lot about how female writers were viewed in those times. Though the sisters travelled, Emily was only really happy when she returned to her home and the wild moors, on which she would walk for hours. Her poems reflect her love of the moors as this short verse from one of her poems tells us.

The house is old, the trees are bare,
Moonless above bends twilight's dome;
But what on earth is half so dear,
So longed for, as the hearth of home?

Love all the Bronte books. What a sad loss that we couldn't have many more years of their genius.

I didn't realize they were so young when they wrote their books, and that they all died so young.

According to ***Wikipedia***,
Quote:
Emily believed that her health, like her sisters', had been weakened by the harsh local climate and by unsanitary conditions at home, the source of water being contaminated by runoff from the church's graveyard...

I wouldn't be surprised if she was right about that.
