Just started Uru/Dni & don't remember very well the locations & actions in Uru-Prime which I finished quite a while ago.

I now only got up to the following (completely) but need amplification &/or clarification of the GB walkthru paragraph below :-

(Also I find/found the 'definitions/terminology' of "Nexus", "Relto", "KI", etc. a bit vague !) eek

T I A ! help laugh

I'll try Len until a URU expert comes around:

Relto - is your own island that you can go to with your linking book at bottom left. Here is where your other linking books are found in the hut.

Nexus - I can't remember the color od description of this linking book. It is the place that functions as a terminal. It is just one room and you insert your hand on the mailbox thing and see a selection of places to go to mostly in the City (ex: ferry, etc.)

KI - this is the item you get at Gahreesen. You can take pictures with it, later use as locator for markers, etc. Usually seen in zoom mode at top left of screen.

The Baron's Office - Just for you to recall in the previous URU game - you rode up the bucket in Teledahn. You arrive on top of the tall building. You rode the elevator to the top. You did a puzzle with the aquarium and found a linking book. This linked to the Baron's office on top of this building. You get a page here so you can link back here easily from your private island-Relto.

Hope that clarifies some things. smile

To continue with what Marita has said, Len. The Nexus book is brownish--one of the ones to the right of the Age books. Be sure to stick your KI underneath any of the books on stands that you find as you go through the City--that will put a page for that location in your City book. Do you remember how to do that.... think

I thought I was maybe unusually dim, but on downloading that Uru-glossary (that you helpfully recommended) I see that there are somewhere around 100 'definitions'.

I suppose that they wouldn't have posted a large list like that unless others apart from me also got confused with terminology !??! eek

Len, check your last journey cloth to see if it takes you to either the room where the buckets dump you or to the room you are in when you go up the elevator. If you don't have one of those two, you'll have to ride the buckets again. After you get dumped out, here's a quote of what to do from one of the Prime walkthroughs: SPOILER

Now walk to the elevator and press the blue button. The blue button makes the elevator go up and the yellow button makes it go down. This will take you to the top floor. This room has another telescope, windows you can open by operating a lever by one of them, books and papers you should read, a bed and a fish tank. Copy the diagram with the numbered squares in D'ni from 1 to 7. You will need it to solve the pressure plate puzzle. There is also the third Journey Cloth which you should activate. Behind the crate, next to the bed is the first of the Relto pages. Touch it to append it to your book. This page allows you to customize the roof of the Hut in Relto. (Thanks to Mark for the information).

Anyway, you should now go to the fish tank, and press the top button by the red light for three seconds. A panel slides down and a linking book appears.Touch the picture to link to a room with two divisions...

Thanks Jenny.

When I click on the Teledahn (orange colored) book in Relto (I assume ?), the 1st page is ONE cloth, and the following 3 pages are graphics linking to different places.

The cloth takes me to a darkish sort of corridor where you can access that device for shooting down rocks & another (at least one) location.

It's after 2:00 am here (July 1st) ... will try to get my bearings tomorrow.

Goodnight ... and thanks again ! praise

There is only one journey cloth in each age, Len, and they save one on top of each other, so all you can access is the last one you made.

Looks as though you will have to open the Age book, click on the picture of the hut and go outside and ride the buckets again... slapforehead

Exactly how does one aquire To D'ni? Have played Ages Beyond Myst and removed it once finished. Do I need to re-install it and play again? Also if it is only available by download, what do I need to do?

This is what Lasanidine stated:
Uru the prime, XPack1.
1. You have to have Uru prime installed on your HD to be able to install the XPack
2. You do not have to have a finished prime game to play the extension pack but it is easier to play it if your prime game is finished
3. There is a saved game folder in you Uru directory called <b>sav</b>. If you saved that and uninstalled the game you can install it and put sav folder into the game directory
4. The XPack will start you in the desert and you have to make it into your Rleto again.
5.The fist XP is free, the second one is due out at the end of June and you will have to pay for that.:)

Dhart, you will have to reinstall URU in order to play To D'ni, but you don't need to worry about downloading it if you don't want to. A second expansion pack, called Path of the Shell, is due to come out in about a week, and it will include a CD of To D'ni...

I only seem to remember maybe TWO games I have given up for a total loss … out of goodness knows how many.

Uru-to-Dni seems all set to becoming another !
I think that many Boomers were involved in different stages of beta-testing, and I hope my general (buggy) assessment on the main Discussion is not offensive.

I got right through & completed the whole of Uru-Prime and made a proper full save at the end.
When I insert this save into Uru/Dni it seems to “fit” 100% & tally completely with the GB Uru/Dni walkthru.

I understand from the walkthru that my next move is to reach the "Baron's Office" (O.K. ..... not that I remember this from URU-Prime, or even what it looks like when/if I ever reach there ! eek )

It seems to indicate that I can arrive there either …………..

** (A) You can link there directly via the link page on the Ae'gura. book (Brown book with stylized tree … 7th book from the left) OR **** (B) via the Teledahn Book (Orange color … 3rd book from the left ).

** (A) Seems out of the question at present since I have so far ONLY obtained the very first 2 linking pages.

**** (B) I think that I COMPLETELY finished Uru-Prime and started Uru/Dni from the FINAL Uru-Prime save .
When I access this Teledahn Book, there is ONE CLOTH (and I’m fairly certain that this was the LAST one superimposed from Uru-Prime) and afterwards 2 or maybe 3 Linking-Pages.

Using EITHER the cloth or the 1st linking page (the “hut”) I can easily get the machinery going, all possible levers pulled etc. I’ve done this a dozen times. On some occasions the 2 buckets are stationary and will not move at all. By ‘fiddling’ I can get the buckets moving BUT no amount or type of lever pulling will get EITHER bucket to stop at the bottom or anywhere else. I have pulled levers when the buckets are in pretty well every position(s) possible ---> Nada ! mad

I vaguely remember doing this in Uru-Prime and seem to remember succeeding on the 3rd or 4th try.

Unless somebody can instruct me as to how to reach the "Baron's Office", I reckon I’ve wasted more than enough time already … which maybe (partly at any rate) is at least one of the reasons why Uru-Live had to be abandoned ???

Len-Since you have completed Prime, you should have everything you need to go to the office (whether you call it "Sharpers" or the "Barons"). I am not sure why you dont have all the pages in your Brown book but at the moment we will just go to Teledahn. I assume the power is still running so you just exit the hut and ride up the elevator to the bedroom, and look at the fishtank. You should see the linking book to the office there, since you already opened this in Prime. You may recall there are two rooms inthe office-one has three large paintings and the second room a large desk and a window with a view of the city.

Len, my memory is a little fuzzy on this, but if the power is running, when you come out of the door to the hut and go down the short walkway to the main path (the one that runs in a circle around the hut), isn't there a button to call the elevator...

Hi Len,
I looked at the WT and no it doesnt' really give specific pages in your books of links to use.

You say you are using your save from Uru Prime, so I am assuming that most of the links should be in your books and all the things turned on or completed as you left them.

For me the link to the Baron's Office is in the fat Brown book(7th from the left). It is the FIRST link in the book. The linking picture: has a linking book on a pedestal to the left in a round foyer with mosaic floor of greenish and brown. Towards the upper right is a round door opening, and further in the background you can see a desk with a candle to the left of it.

Or, if the machinery is running in Teledahn and you already did the buckets in Prime then you should be able to simply link to the hut from the orange book, go to the elevator straight out of the hut, and push the blue button in the elevator TWICE to get to the top floor with the aquarium in it. Then link from the book in the aquarium to the Baron's Office.

I went and linked to Teledahn to see what the buckets were doing for me, and they won't even come down pulling the lever where you originally jump into them. I guess I left something in the control room closed or locked so they won't come down anymore, but no problem, just use the elevator to get up to the control room or the aquarium room.

PS: actually the link to the Baron's office is the second link for me in the brown book, but that is only cuz I added a link before it further on in Uru to D'ni. I'm almost finished with Uru to D'ni now. But if I was at the stage you are at it would be on the first page.

Hope this helps. smile

EDIT: Oops, after I posted this it took me to the second page of this thread. hehe, I didn't notice before when I was replying there WAS a second page. You should be well on your way now Len.

LenG, Getting the city opened up is a puzzle in itself. This does not sound like you have a bug. You need to find the spyroom through Teledahn (Mushroom Age) AFTER finishing Teledahn the first time.

I don't know which office was "barron's office."

Sharper's journal mentions a book he had hidden in the additional pages. It leads to his "spyroom."

AFTER finishing Teledahn, link back to the last journey cloth (touch one near the end door if you have touched another since then) and walk back to the prison area. Flip one lever and the gates near the levers will close. You will see the hidden book. Link to your Relto. Link back to the last Journey cloth again. Walk back to the book. This is the link to the spyroom that starts "to D'ni" in earnest.

There's a link in the spyroom to Phil's personal Relto and a code you should note through a the telescope.

Go to Phil's Relto. Make sure you link into the cavern city using Phil's book to the cavern and touch a KI thing when there so you can get back anytime.

Use the code you saw on the lights in Phil's neighborhood and find the room this unlocks. (It will be straight ahead) THEN you can get all around the city using the stones inside.

Best Wishes on your quest!

I have been over every angle possible I think many times … am becoming an ‘expert’.

Many thanks to the several who have helped !
Below are some pretty thoroughly tested conclusions for anybody who gets similarly stuck (… but no 100% guarantee).

You CAN indeed reach the so called Baron’s Office from your Relto by either of TWO ways ………… EITHER using the 7th book from the left. (numbers clearer than names IMO !) OR using the 3rd book from the left.

(A) If you follow the GB URU/Dni walkthru “4. Ae’gura” accurately you should arrive OK.
I missed one step and couldn’t get there. This led me to believe erroneously that this route couldn’t succeed so early on !

(B) There are some factors to be aware of :- The machinery must be working of course. Even if it is, the ‘correct’ shaft(s) must be turning (correct levers pulled/pushed). Otherwise the elevator will not operate ! Maybe something else ?

I have tried MANY times to ride up a bucket … as I did in Uru-Prime (with a little difficulty but not much!). AFAIK this is impossible. In the vast majority of cases the buckets are stationary and won’t move whatever you do and whatever levers you pull &/or push(I agree with Sassy).

However it IS possible to get the 2 buckets moving properly … I’ve done it 3 or 4 times, but not sure exactly how !?! But it doesn’t matter since it seems to be a waste of time anyway. When they are moving there appears to be no possible way of stopping them (using the side lever in any orientation or not) as there was in Uru-Prime. So there is no way to get in and hitch a ride up !!

AFAIK, the elevator works after you disengage the locks on the level where the bucket comes in. (Its a foot pedal near the elevator) After that you dont need to use the buckets anymore. Those levers control the buckets, the mahole lock, and the water level below the hut where you first link in to the Age.

Once you have turned the Mushroom Age on (Teledahn) you dont need to go back and use the other equipment again.

Getting to the spyroom involves getting through the prisons once, knocking that one walkway flat (use lever, jump at it, use lever again) getting a linking cloth near the end. (the rest of the movements are listed above)

Are you sure the above is correct … I seem to have come across very different observations.

(1) In Uru/Dni (or at least the early part which is all I have done so far) the buckets are useless. They are either permanently stationary; or permanently looping with no method of stopping them & jumping in.

(2) I looked for quite a long time all around & near to the elevator and could not find any controlling foot pedal ... maybe I missed it ?!

(3) Quite a way away from the elevator, on the platform where the antenna etc. resides, are 3 large levers which control 3 huge shafts … one is broken so you can only operate 2.
One of these shafts goes into the far wall in the direction of the elevator (you can’t see it). If the shaft is rotating, the yellow (down) & blue (up) buttons are lit and when clicked operate the elevator.
If however the relevant lever has been activated and the shaft stops rotating, the yellow & blue buttons are not lit and the elevator cannot work.

Len, you are right that those two levers have to be thrown for the elevator and buckets to work. I don't know what the third one, the broken one, was supposed to control, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

The foot pedal lock that Susan was talking about is in the room where the buckets dump you out. When you first go over to the elevator it won't work--down on the floor on the right hand side is a place where you get a "use" icon--that's the lock, and all you have to do it click on it to release it. After that the elevator will work as long as the power is on.

I'm really confused about your problem with the buckets, Len--I have ridden them several times in To D'ni. Took me a couple of tries to get the bucket to stop in the right place, but after a few miscues I didn't have any problem at all. Unfortunately, the way the saves work in URU, there isn't any way that I can look at your game and see what the trouble is. Oh well, I'm just glad it's something that you don't absolutely have to do!!!

Just as a hint, any time you go into an area, be sure to insert your KI into any Nexus books that you find--that way you will have all of the linking pages you need. I believe the one to Baron's office is the second one in one of those two books you mentioned--right after the picture of the beginning of the Age...

~~ Jenny ~~

I think these are fairly good examples of what I meant in my post on the GB Main Discussion Board URU(Dni) ~ A Brilliant Failure

The complexity and attention to detail is magnificent & absolutely staggering.
However, I think it is so intricate that it tends to lead to anomalies ... I wouldn't call them BUGS !!

I think the broken shaft is only there as a sort of deliberate red herring.

I think I DID see that foot pedal during the short time I glanced around 'upstairs' ... but my original problem was operating the TWO ways to GET up there ... not what to do *AFTERWARDS*.

Yes ... why/how you could operate the buckets for a 2nd time (i.e. after having used them in URU-Prime) whereas both Sassy & myself can't, is indeed one of the quirks I've been referring to !

BTW ... I've come across quite a number of games with only ONE Save slot which I HATE !! ........ but URU is about the worst ... what a pity ....... maybe they've improved it in their new version --- VERY doubtful ??? eek <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="confused.gif" /> blush

smile Since the only reason you rode the buckets up in Prime was because the brake was on for the elevator, can't see any reason you would want to ride them again :kiss: You got the elevator working in Prime, so just keep riding that! Better yet, now that you have the correct page in the Brown Book, you can come and go to that office anytime you feel like it.

There is one little trick in Teledahn that is worth doing though, Len. Go to the Teledahn book and use the page with the journey cloth. This should bring you into the cave opposite the door to the Bahro pole cave.

There are three other exits from this cave: the opening to the place where you shot rocks from the dock in Prime; the entrance to the area of boxes, and an exit back out toward a sea wall and the machinery you used to "catch the sun" for power.

Go to that last exit from the cave and walk back on the ramp that leads to the sun catcher. Toward the end of the ramp, jump on it, and it will lower and lock into that position. This gives you the option of returning to the cave area from the hut via the sun catcher if you ever need it.

And if I have just confused you, disregard it all! Enjoy-and good luck! Kate

Since the only reason you rode the buckets up in Prime was because the brake was on for the elevator, can't see any reason you would want to ride them again You got the elevator working in Prime, so just keep riding that! Better yet, now that you have the correct page in the Brown Book, you can come and go to that office anytime you feel like it.
Very much figures ... and fills in a "logic gap".
I'd totally forgotten about the elevator brake (which had already been 'fixed') thus as you say rendering the buckets superfluous in URU/Dni.

Also when I started, my "elevator-shaft" was inoperative and hence I assumed (incorrectly) that you couldn't use the elevator [[ not that I even remembered using it (without Hints above) in Uru-Prime anyway ... heehee ! rolleyes ]].

I don't like criticizing ANY walkthru since I've written a lot myself and am doubtless 'wanting' in many respects.
However, all this preliminary section of URU/Dni is pretty complex and IMHO warrants a good clear full mini-walkthru written by one of you folk who knows the game inside out by now (certainly not me !)

Lost again --- unsurprisingly. I would never have made an intrepid (or any other) explorer.

I seem to be moving round & round Teledahn with considerable ease now ... but what next ???

BTW ... when the GB URU/Dni walkthru & other folk talk about the "OUTER prison", do they mean the area where you have to depress 4 pressure plates simultaneously in order to open TWO doors ? And the "INNER prison", the area where you have to flip 4 signs from gold color to grey in order to open ONE door (and simultaneously close the previous two) OR IS IT THE OTHER WAY ROUND --- or something else entirely ??

I'm stumped with the following (end of the walkthruu's section "5. Teledahn Age") .......
Any explanation &/or hints/help would be very welcome !
Quote:
Exit the Prison and go down the stone steps to the cistern pipe. Enter the hole
and climb down the pipe to the metal ladder. Climb up the ladder to the cistern.
Climb up the other ladder to the cistern hut. Exit the hut to the metal
walkway outside and keep going forward. Turn left at the fork and climb up to
the solar generator. Continue forward and to the right, down a broken metal
walkway to a fallen mushroom. Climb up the other metal walkway to get to the
metal dam area. Enter the corridor that leads past the Journey Door and continue
to the Dock room. Exit the room to the Dock area. Climb down the stairs to the
left to a wooden walkway. Cross the wooden drawbridge and go up the wooden
steps. Enter the corridor that leads to the outer Prison cell door. To your right should be the open niche. Approach it and click on the link book.

You are now in Sharper's spy room. There is a linking book to the bedroom above
the control room in Teledahn, another linking book (belonging to Phil Henderson)
that links to a night time Relto, a telescope and Sharper's Hat that you can collect to add to your wardrobe. Look through the telescope to gain an important clue that you should write down.

Len, what this is all leading up to is a linking book that you will need to use to get to a new area (Sharper's spyroom).

When you are in the prison section that has the switches that you can flip from gray to gold, turn them so that the doors leading into the section with the pressure plates opens, and the other set of doors close. When you look through the closed door on the left, you will see a linking book in a niche in the wall. (It can only be seen with the doors closed.) This is the book that links to the spyroom.

Now go out through the doors that are open, and through the area with the pressure plates. Follow the directions that you quoted in your post, and assuming that you lowered the metal walkway to the mushroom, as someone suggested earlier that you should do, you will be able to walk up to that linking book and go to the spyroom.

If you did not lower the walkway, you'll have to go back to it, walk out to the end where it is broken off and jump up and down a couple of times. This will make the walkway sink down onto the mushroom--now you can go back and go through the procedure already outlined to get to the spyroom...

hmmm-Len-can't say that I blame you. I have played the game many times and I got confused! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="tongue.gif" /> Not the walk through, but we all seem to use different terminology. Your goal is to get to a new linking book that you can see through the bamboo gates from the room beyond the pressure plate area. Sneaky game-if you open the last door from that room with the flip up panels, the niche closes. However, you need to set up for a return to this spot from the opposite direction, and so for now continue-flip a panel up to open the next door. The niche disappears, but carry on to the ramp that had a broken lever (you had to jump on this to get across it before)and try the lever again. It works now!

So, now you return to the pressure plate area(climbing down from the little hut) and open only the doors to the room with the flip up panels. Do not flip any!!! but back out the way you came to the cells, then come into that area from the opposite direction. Easiest way to do this is to use your journey cloth in the Teldahn book. This puts you back in the cave by the Bharo door, yes? If you follow the route through the room with boxes, you can go out the door by the crates (you jumped on these to get to the ladder in Prime) and follow the path on your left back down to the once broken ramp. Now you walk across the ramp, up the stairs and you are on the other side of the cells with an open niche and a new link!

Phew! Maybe this is a little clearer? Perhaps if you combine Jenny's post and the WT, it will make sense now.

MANY THANKS both Jenny & KateVa !

I think I 'know' Teledahn better than my own locality.
I've been backwards & forwards through those prison areas goodness knows how many times.
Each time, I either looked through the wrong door, or was on the wrong side or whatever.

Eventually your hints paid off & at last I've succeeded.

For any others who may have troubles with this

To start with, if you are in the room that has the notebook with an explanation of the KI, that is the "antechamber" they are talking about. Those five little marks at the bottom of the KI are where the markers will be recorded as you collect them.

The first one is right there in the antechamber. As you move around the room, you will hear a beeping and a white ball with red flashing through it will appear in the air. It seems to me that it's at the other end of the room from the notebook, but it's been too long for me to be sure. But it is in the room. When you see the ball, put your cursor on it and click. You will hear a sound and one of the marks on the KI will either get brighter or dimmer, I forget which.

After you pick up that one, you can start looking on the list (that's what the walkthrough is doing when it talks about linking to the Egg room and you said you'd done that five times. You weren't looking for markers when you did those linkings, remember?) If you'll notice on the list, you can pick up all of the rest of the markers you need for the first batch in the two neighborhoods.

After you have the first five markers, go back to the antechamber (you can use the Egg Room to get back there) and put your KI back into the slot. This gives you credit for the first five, and you should get fifteen new marker spots on your KI. Now you can start running those down, exactly the same way you did the first five.

That should keep you busy for quite a while--if I can make a suggestion, print off the list and cross them off as you find them. I didn't do this, and wound up running all over the place, trying to figure out which *&^%% marker I was missing... <img border="0" alt="cry" title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" />

~~ Hi Jenny (& others) ~~
Still nothing working & held up here … what a game !? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="confused.gif" />
I have looked at the ‘Data Notebook’, 2 (or is it 3) walkthus, and also got a clarifying note from Jenny.

(1) It is now OBVIOUS that I’m in the correct place i.e. the Antechamber.

(2) Previously I had been through the second metal door onto the room with the 5 alcoves & Bahro Stones. I have ALREADY linked to all 5 locations, clicked my hand on all 5 slots next to the linking books.

(3) If/When I go to Relto & look at my Ae’gura book [ 7th from the left ] it now contains 11 pages.

Also, When I click bottom left of screen I obtain my “KI”. It has FIVE (not 7 as I mistakenly said previously) very small green rectangles running round clockwise from the bottom.
They do NOT seem to me to be faint, but reasonably bold ! ??????

(4) All advice(s) above tell me in different ways to stick my KI into the slot of the KI 'contraption' in the antechamber (in order to get the 5 green rectangles ... which as mentioned before, I THINK I already have ???).

I’ve tried to do this but am uncertain exactly HOW eek and whether I’ve “succeeded”. At any rate, there’s absolutely no noticeable difference … and apparently no Great Zero Markers (GZM's) become ‘available’.

I’ve spent hours on this … Anybody know what my problem is ???

Len -- the room with 5 alcoves & Bahro stones is called the Egg Room -- you could look through the window of each alcove and see a giant egg, right? That was the Egg Room.

I think if you see 5 green rectangles (even if they are reasonably bold) you have succeeded in putting your ki into the "contraption" correctly. It doesn't sound though as if you have collected any of the markers yet. Do you see a hot spot on the "contraption?" If you do and you click on it, you should see your avatar put his/her hand in the contraption and then withdraw it. At that point you should be able to begin collecting markers (it sounds as though you are already ready to do this).

To collect a marker, you have to do what Jenny describes above --

Quote:
you will hear a beeping and a white ball with red flashing through it will appear in the air. It seems to me that it's at the other end of the room from the notebook, but it's been too long for me to be sure. But it is in the room. When you see the ball, put your cursor on it and click. You will hear a sound and one of the marks on the KI will either get brighter or dimmer, I forget which.
From your description, it does NOT seem as though you've located any markers yet -- (heard the beeping and seen the white ball with red flashing).

If you are having trouble finding the marker in the antechamber, then I would suggest going to the neighborhood and walking around, listening for a beeping sound and looking for the white balls.

Hope this makes sense.

Becky has given you some good advice, Len--if you already see five green places on your KI, you are ready to start finding markers. I suggest that you go first to the Kirel neighborhood, which is where the Egg Room is (accessed through the blue book with gold spirals on it in your Relto). There are three markers in Kirel--check out these locations:

*Inside Classroom
*Center of Garden of Lights
*Right side of inner corridor, before the Community Room

When you see hear a beep, look for the flashing ball. You can hear the beep quite a ways away, so you may have to hunt around a little...

Becky & Jenny & others ……………………………….

Thanks sincerely for your time & efforts, but for reasons (‘right’ or ‘wrong’), I have decided to discontinue playing the URU series.

~~ Becky ~~

Yes I assumed that the room with the 5 alcoves was the “Egg Room” … but I didn’t want to take the chance of making a descriptive error.

Yes … a white hot-spot ……….. but no way can I collect markers in or around the Antechamber !?! (see below).

Some things seem seriously wrong here !! mad

(A) I got the 5 green markers before even STARTING on the Antechamber.
(B) When I try to pick up ANY of the 5 markers in or around the Antechamber they are COMPLETELY ‘unavailable’.
(C) If/when I look at my KI I both see a white hot-spot, and can get my avatar to put its hand in the contraption, etc.
But this does *nothing whatsoever* (not really surprising !!).
(D) HOWEVER, when I follow your instructions I CAN ‘acquire’ the 3 markers in Kirel that you outlined … and I’ve seen 1 or 2 more in different locations.
((( N.B. In 'my' Relto, the blue book with gold spirals only takes me to Kirel during daytime. I had to use my brown 7th from the left book to get to the Nexus & then to Kirel for the above 3 locations ?!? )))
(E) When I’ve picked up 3 or 4 markers (FOLLOWING the aforementioned impossible 5 green ones), I get no red ‘rectangle’ added to my KI.
I guess that maybe you have to collect all 15 or whatever & then ‘manipulate’ them in order to get the red marker-rectangles ???
~~~~ But I am not prepared to spend the additional (probably considerable) time doing this since I am VERY FAR from certain that things will work properly afterwards.
(F) Continuing (E), the GB walkthru says
Quote:
”Collecting the first 5 markers adds a new location to the Nexus, Rezeero …………..”
Of course, when I go to the Nexus I have NO Rezeero. I don’t know if Rezeero is essential or not … and I’m certainly not going to waste even more time to find out !! frown
Len, I wish you would go just a little bit farther with this!!! You say you've already collected the three markers that I described (you did see the flashing ball and click your cursor on it, right?) Then you say you've seen a couple more of the flashing balls--go and click your cursor on two more of them.
Then go back to the antechamber and stick your KI back into the slot. This should give you the 15 markers all around the left side of your KI.
Try it and see if it doesn't work. And I don't remember getting Rezeero in my Nexus until I had collected all 20 of the markers, so I think you are ok there...
Hey Len:
It has occurred to me that perhaps part of the confusion is that the markers that you are getting for the green "slots" in your Ki -- those pinging balls hanging in the air -- are not in themselves green. All markers, whether for filling up the green slots on the Ki, or for filling up the red slots on the Ki, are white balls with red circles around them. Any marker can be used at any time for either filling up the green rectangle slots or for filling up the red rectangle slots.
A. You can't get five green markers before starting in the antechamber. What you do get is five green rectangles on your Ki that are the open "slots" that the markers will fill each time you click on a marker. When you have acquired a marker, a slot will fill up with a darker/brighter green rectangle.
B. There aren't five markers in the antechamber. There should only be one. It IS strange that you haven't been able to acquire it. I can't explain it.
C. The Ki actually has more than one hot spot on its face. One takes pictures and one closes the Ki down. When you said "contraption" I didn't think you were refering to the Ki -- I thought you meant the antechamber machine that you put your Ki hand into. The antechamber machine also has a hotspot, and clicking on that (even if the Ki is just an icon at the bottom of your screen) is what activates the five green rectangle "slots" on the Ki so that they will accept markers. You know the hotspot on the machine has worked if your avatar puts his/her hand into it and then withdraws his/her hand. I'm sorry that I was unclear about this.
D. If you have acquired three markers in Kirel, then you should be able to see that the three green rectangles on the Ki are darker/brighter green than the two remaining empty slots. All you have to do now is find two more markers somewhere in the city to finish out the five slots on the Ki.
NB -- here my memory fails me. I'm not sure if you get to Kirel during different times of day, or if there actually are two different, but similar-looking neighborhoods.
E. The reason you haven't gotten red rectangles on your Ki is that you haven't finished getting the green ones yet. Once you have all five green ones (all five green Ki slots are full with darker/brighter rectangles) then you need to put the Ki back in the machine in the antechamber. This will then make your Ki ready to accept the following 15 markers, which will fill in the red slots on the Ki. When the markers are acquired for the red slots, the slots will become a darker/brighter red.
Thanks Jenny.
I think that there are 2 possibilities.
(1) My download got corrupted (although until this point it seemed to operate fine !).
(2) The game contains one of those terribly insidious bugs (I've come across this breed more than once … sometimes non-repeatable !) which doesn't strike the majority of people, but causes havoc ONLY if a player performs some ‘unique’ individual (albeit ‘legitimate’) order or set of actions.
These are often murderous to identify ... but usually easy to patch once pinpointed.
I haven't got time to explore further at the moment. One of your previous suggestions would probably be best sometime in the future. I have kept several saves and it would be safest to return to one ... or even to the very beginning of URU/D'ni.
Maybe I'll replay the game some time in the future [/URL] ... when I have some days (weeks ??) to spare ! lol
Just seen Becky's post ... seems even more likely to be a corrupted download.
W E I R D !!
Thanks for all your attempts to help, and the time & effort you spent.
Please see my post to Jenny just before tis one ... and its link.
I'm now pretty sure that my download is corrupted in some very strange way.
I left off last night as explained previously and did NOTHING MORE !!!
Just now, I entered the game for the 1st time today and wenrt straight to the Antechamber.
My 5 green 'unearned' rectangles have disappeared and in their place I find on my KI now, 15 even more 'unearned' RED rectangles.
Will have to leave the game and (maybe, hopefully) return some time in the future !
Hey, Len---you are making progress!!!!! <img border="0" alt="bravo" title="" src="graemlins/bravo.gif " />
What I think is happening, the game has finally caught up with what you've been doing. Remember, I told you that if you had collected all five of those markers and put your KI back into the slot, that you would get 15 places on your KI.
Now you are ready to start in on the rest of the list in the walkthrough. Have you checked to see if Rezeero is in your Nexus now.
HAVE A SAFE TRIP....
Help...I have found and uploaded the 15 "red" markers and was given access to the calibration machines. Am looking for the "other markers". Tried looking for the one for the far left machine At Tokotah Ally. Somewhere near the "gallery". What gallery? Where are thes markers, specifivally? My Ki does not blink or beep anymore...have I done something wrong?
First of all, Dhart, when you put you KI into that far left machine, did you also push the blue button? I skipped that step and couldn't get anything to register until I went back and did it.
As I remember, the marker it the Alley (isn't there a link in your Nexus to take you there?) is not actually on the ground but instead it's up on a ledge that runs all along the left side of the Alley. At least you can give that a try--and your KI doesn't register any height, depth, etc. until you have picked up the marker for it and taken it back to the machine. So it's not much use in actually finding the first couple of markers...
Dhart, the marker in the alley is not one of the four calibration markers. So whichever one you are looking for, don't bother looking there.
As Jenny says, you need to pick one of the four markers to look for and press the blue button on the relevant machine of the marker you're looking for. You can only look for one marker at a time. However, once you collect that marker and upload it into the relevant machine in the Great Zero, your Ki will start telling you one of the co-ordinates, which should help you find the other markers.
The 'gallery' is the Kadish Gallery that you first linked to from Kadish and where you got the clues to solve that puzzle. There's a marker in there. However, if you didn't push the button on the machine corresponding to the Kadish Gallery marker, you won't find it.
The other two co-ordinate markers are located in places that you initially linked to from Bahro stones. One is on the roof of a building in one of the neighbourhoods and you link there from a Bahro stone behind the rotating monolith in Eder Kemo, which appears for the first time in this Xpack. The other one is on one of the balconies (forget which one) that you might have linked to during the earlier game, and which should be accessible through your city book.
Once you have uploaded all three markers it shouldn't be too hard to find the fourth, since your Ki will help you locate the co-ordinates. Here's a clue: search in the city proper rather than on balconies and so forth.
