Purchased a game from Amazon that has a [blip] steam key (I really don’t like Steam) with these instructions on how to activate the game.

1. In your browser, go to http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=uk
2. In the upper right of your window, locate the green "Install Steam" icon; click here
3. Follow instructions to download and install Steam client.

I can’t find any instructions to install Steam client. All I have is the games page and the search pane just searches games.
Any help will be appreciated.
Cari.

I just clicked on your link, and at the very top of my screen, on the right, there is a small green box that says "install Steam." It's above the place where you can do a search.

Oh, I see I may have misread your post - are you referring to after you click on install Steam, that you don't see any instructions? When I click on "install Steam," it takes me to a new page where I get another green download box that says to install Steam.

Thank you for your post Marian, but my problem isn’t with downloading Steam its installing the Steam Client which I need to activate my game.

I thought downloading Steam/installing Steam and installing the Steam client are the same thing?

Sorry if I am misunderstanding your post - let's wait for someone who actually uses Steam. wave

That's correct Marian, the "Client" is Steam. It installs like most other programs and you'll need to set up an account and password after activation. Once that's completed, you'll log into Steam and will have a Library tab which will contain your games. You just click on the name of the game in your library and that will kick off the game.

I loaded a screen shot of my Library tab below. You'll see the words in bold at the top of the screen; Store, Library, Community, Repeatable? Those are your tabs. The last one is your profile and displays your gamertag (mine is "Repeatable"), the name you are known by in the Steam community. That long list to the left is my Steam game Library.

My Steam Library

Steam looks a lot nicer than my uploaded image. For whatever reason my screengrab was low-res.

Marian and Trail are correct - you will need to set up a Steam account and download and install the client.

Here's the help page on installing Steam and creating a Steam Account:

Thanks everyone for your help. Yes, I came to the same conclusion that Stream Client was part of Steam. When I created a new account to activate my game, it kept referring me to an account I had deleted some time ago and one I had no idea of the password so I couldn’t open the account but going online my new account was up and running.
Great but there was a snag, Stream Client wasn’t available so there was no way to activate the code. I have since learned that you can only activate a code on the download on your PC not on an online connection.

My old account had been suspended but after some playing around with the digital help it was lifted in around 2 hours and I could activate my game which was downloaded it around 20 minutes.
Which is good, I don’t like Steam but credits due when credits due.
