All my computers in the past have had Adobe Flashplayers and readers, I do not see them listed in my programs on this computer. Do I need them or will I need them in the future?

If you want to read PDF files, you will need to download and install either Adobe Reader or the Foxit Reader. You can download and install Adobe Flash if you need it for some websites. A lot of Youtube videos won't work without it. Make sure you get them from the source - Adobe - not from some place that includes all kinds of crapware like CNET.

There are other pdf readers, like Sumatra.
I used to like Foxit, but not so much anymore.
But you're not stuck with Adobe.

You may need Flash for some websites, but YouTube lets you choose HTML 5 as your default video player instead.

I've grown to not like Foxit so much any more either. I need to try Sumatra.

Jenny 100 and Draclvr, Thank you for your answers. I will look at Abode for safe downloads.

Sumatra is here

If the yellow background color is too much for you, you can change it to a color you like better.

Sumatra is nice and fast and seems able to open everything I need it to.

Foxit has become a bloated slug. However one of the older versions might be OK.

Look at the difference in size between the early versions of Foxit and the current one. According to Wikipedia, version 6.1.4 of Foxit installs garbage like "OpenCandy" and the mobile version was caught sending user information to China.

So I wouldn't trust current versions of Foxit.
It has obviously turned to evil.

Thank you for that, Jenny. I haven't downloaded Foxit for at least a couple of years. It has indeed gone to the dark side.
