When you finished URU, did you uninstall it? If so, your saves are gone; that's what happened to me, but I printed out the walkthrough and was able to whip through the game very quickly using it, because I was already familiar with everything necessary to finish.

EDITED:
This is what Lasanidine stated:
Uru the prime, XPack1.
1. You have to have Uru prime installed on your HD to be able to install the XPack
2. You do not have to have a finished prime game to play the extension pack but it is easier to play it if your prime game is finished
3. There is a saved game folder in you Uru directory called sav. If you saved that and uninstalled the game you can install it and put sav folder into the game directory
4. The XPack will start you in the desert and you have to make it into your Rleto again.
5.The fist XP is free, the second one is due out at the end of June and you will have to pay for that.

You don't have to replay the whole game. I lost my Uru saves also. When both games are loaded, you start in the desert again and work your way to the relto. You will find a couple new books there. There are a couple places you have to revisit. You have to get your KI again and you need to revisit the Teledahn Age and work your way to the office. You can use the pillars out in front of the relto. It really doesn't take much time--much better than replaying the whole game.

Pokey is right, it isn't essential to replay the whole game, just certain parts of it. I did it all again because I wanted to get my Relto all fixed up again, and because I enjoyed it so much--all but those &^%* fireflies... laugh

Thanks Jenny and Pokey.
The thought of trying to get those barrels just right in the water doesn't thrill me, let alone all the jumping. It sounds like the expansion package is worth going the extra mile.

So bottom line, reload Uru and the expansion pack at the same time? think

Just downloaded to D'Nai expansion pack - never finished playing URU prime. So started the whole thing over. Will this be okay? I dumped the saved game from before. Will this make the expansion pack not work? Thanks smile

GeeGee, you can play both games at the same time, but it might be just a trifle confusing. If you've never finished URU, why not print off the walkthrough and whip through it following the steps as outlined. Then when you are ready to start To D'ni (the first XPack), everything will be ready for you.

If you really don't want to do this, check Pokey's message in this thread...

If you have uninstalled Uru, installing the expansion pack will prompt you to use the Uru disk and it will be installed at the same time.

You will also need to go to the Eder Gira age to pick up something new and since you don't have the journey cloth, you will need to repeat a bit of that part to get there. If you didn't lower the metal walkway in the Teledahn Age (I didn't) then you will need to go through the prison again. Otherwise, there is not much replay. The biggest chore is getting past the steam vents, which is easy the second time and redoing the beginning of the Teledahn Age. It was much easier than I imagined.

Thanks so much for your responses. Sounds like I should have finished playing Uru Prime BEFORE installing to D'Nai - thought the expansion pack was just a continuation of the original game. Can't I play the whole thing at once? Hope so. If not, will have to uninstall everything and then re-install Uru Prime game on its own and play it through BEFORE installing expansion pack - is this the right thing to do? Let me know. Many thanks again. wave wink

No, don't do that, GeeGee--just install the whole thing and then play the Prime game just as if it was all that was on your computer. (The XPacks won't interfere with the Prime game.) Then when you are done with Prime, you can start the first XPack.

Or you can do as Pokey suggests and do the XPacks without even finishing Prime, but I think you might miss some stuff that way. I changed computers after I finished URU the first time, and I did what I've recommended to you--installed the whole works, replayed Prime from the walkthrough, and then went on to the XPacks.... luck

You're not sounding the least bit "dumb", GeeGee--what would be really dumb would be for you not to ask a question when you really want to know the answer!!!

The XPack won't interfer with playing Prime at all. Just go right through to the end of Prime, and then when you're ready, click on the To D'ni icon. Here's the first paragraph of the walkthrough here at GameBoomers, just to give you an idea of what happens: "You begin the game in your Relto. Go inside the hut. On the bookshelf to the right is a new book written by Yeesha where she comments on the restoration efforts and on its sad results. After reading it, go to the left bookshelf and click on the blue book with the golden spiral on its spine. Turn to the first page of the book and link to the neighborhood. Welcome to Bevin."

Since you installed the whole package at one time, I suspect that book on the right shelf and the blue one with the golden spiral are accessible right now in your Relto, but I wouldn't fool around with them until I'd finished Prime. I think it would get pretty confusing if you were trying to play both games at the same time, although I guess you could if you wanted to.

My advice would be to finish Prime and then go on to XPack 1. Finish that and then do XPack 2. And when that's done, you can join the rest of us in looking forward to Myst:Revelation...

Ok, so I ran out and got the expansion pak "The Path of the Shell" It includes "To D'NI" content free. Sooooo, am I right in thinking that I do not need to also go out and purchase "To D'ni" to enjoy the Path of the Shell? think

Thanks Arwen, I think I'm on my way. The path of the Shell sounded as if it may be missing something. I will now keep the game, especially since it was on sale.
