I recently decided to replay this old game, after installing game and final patch I got a wierd fault.
It was like 2 images, when hero was running 1 image was steady in centre of screen and 2nd image was running side to side. I uninstalled and reinstalled without patch and picture was fine. after playing I decided to do the expansion "fall of seterrif" and even without any patch picture had wierd fault back on. I wondered if anyone else had had this fault

I don't know what to suggest other than comparing the default settings for the unpatched game with with the default settings for the Fall of Seterrif expansion.

I guess it's also possible that the Fall of Seterrif expansion uses a different version of the PhysX drivers.

is full of links to the JoWood forum, which no longer exists because JoWood went bankrupt.

At least you were able to play the original game.
I can only wish you luck with the expansion.
