Gee Texaslady - have the worms, and Y shaped stick but think I need more to make a fishing pole like instrument. Am I on the right track? If I remember right when I combined the worms with the stick, there were two more items I needed so am looking for something to tie the worms onto the stick and something to fashion as a hook to get the fish.

Yes ma'am you are on the right track. Have you seen any vines that might work as a line? Have you seen anything around your general area that might be used as a hook, maybe something that would hurt if you ran into it?

If I remember right it was either in the trunk or around the rotting boat on the beach.
Also have another question - because I am not following a WT, I tend to pick up everything I find that I can. Now I have a full inventory and some things in the holding area. Have tried to combine as much as possible to free up space but still need more slots. Have several things in the holding area waiting to be placed and in trying to combine some of these with other things, I have one item that I cannot put back down in the holding area - it just stays with my cursor so that I cannot do much of anything. Certainly cannot pick anything else up in the game.
Where have I gone wrong or what other feature might I use so that I can manage the huge amount of inventory items that I have. I have combined as much as possible but nothing much left that will go with other things.
And since I am 'hooked' with an item that I can't put down in order to do anything in inventory, am at a loss as how to proceed in the game. Don't want to rely on a WT to pick up items in some order to prevent the 'mess' I am in now:) Spoils the game for me. Any suggestions?

Hello DL, there are tabs on top of your inventory area, click a tab and dump out everything that you are carrying.

Hi, Sue and DL!
I thought the 8 different inventory sections was a great idea because it enabled me to sort things in groups (food items, weapons, wood, etc.) so they could be easily accessed when needed.

I thought it was a dandy idea too, once I figured it out that is. I did the same thing that DL did, wandered around with a ton of stuff in a holding pattern. As usual, I'm a bit slow to figure things out. Sue

Texas Lady - after I dump everything does that mean I lose them all?
Sue - missed this idea. Will look again and are you saying that there are sections where you can store more than one item. All I saw so far where the slots where only one item can be stored at a time. Must check this all out again.
Terrific little game - enjoying it no end.

Oh, no you don't lose them. You just have a massive inventory to stash things in. Look above the slots, you should see rusty tabs at the top, those are your pages of inventory. It won't spoil your game though if you do separate weapons you have from foods. It will make it easier. Before I figured out how to put things together to make 1 item, I had six pages full of odds and ends.

I see where I mislead you DL, sorry. I meant that once you open up a new page in your inventory you could dump whatever was in the holding area into inventory.

Gee guys (ladies) thanks for the tips. I did not have a booklet with this game and so had to experiment to find out how to use cursor, pick up things, use inventory etc. I missed the tab feature entirely and soon caught onto how to organize within the tabs. Had a ball doing so.
So relieved because I had I think 2-3 ton of things to use. Now that I am in the know can get back to doing and not peeking at the inventory ever so often to see if I had missed something. No need now to worry; I can spread out and use the inventory correctly.
Gee what a neat little game - wish they were all such fun. These kinds of puzzles are my speed. Do enjoy other games but when the puzzles are so complicated, mathematical or one needs real manual dexterity, I get soooo frustrated. Using saved games are nice - but I want to do it myself!!!!
This game is fun not frustrating.

Hi, DL!
I also used one of the inventory sections for the items that could be combined, but one or more items was missing from the equation. That way, when I found the missing item, I didn't have to search through my entire inventory for the other items.

I am trying to pick up the porcupine I wait until the 2 crabs are eating and cannot pick it up. There is a red circle with a line through it prohibiting me from picking it up. I have picked up all of the other items with no problem. What am I missing to trigger picking up the porcupine?

Think I am stuck.
Have been wandering around picking up inventory items, combining things as I think they should be, and using things were I think they should be. When I am at a complete loss I will peek at the WT.
One place I need a large bamboo stick to throw into a sulphur pool to scare away a monkey with a stick. Remember collecting at one point 3 sizes of bamboo. Not sure when but have used the large size at some place so now do not have. Went back to area where bamboo was collected but there seems to be no more there to obtain.
Does this mean you are out of luck at this point or have to go way back to a saved game and begin all over again?
The same thing has occurred with a plam frond. Evidently did not see it the first time, looked at a saved game and found the frond but can find no way to bring it up to current game I am playing.
Is there some way to avoid these kinds of situations? Or must one follow a WT item by item so as not to miss something?

Yes, I remember collecting two large bamboos but have neither now. Seems as though I put them together to do something. And re the snake in the cage - dont think I can access that until the monkey with the stick is gone. Will check that out again. As I remember I have to get rid of that monkey and then get some invent. items one of which is a snake in a cage. Back to the drawing board.

Is a save possible in this game? I need one for the robot at the rock arch. I only have bow and arrow to use as I used the ammo for the gun in the cannon and it has been impossible to hit the darn thing in the right place. I need a save that will allow me to pick up the transformer and key. Thanks

I finally killed it. Wasn't easy. Now I am at the broken robot the letters were not VINU like it says in WT. So I cannot use the numbers there to turn all lights green. It is an impossible task as the numbers keep changing letters. So how do I get past this place?

Dutch, press 0 if the letters are not a part of the name nautilus. So, 1=N, 2=A, 3 or 7 for U, 4 for T, 5 for I, 6 for L and 7 for S. It's not impossible at all, just remember if a letter pops up that isn't a part of nautilus, press the 0. Good luck

Ok Texas Lady - do have food but it did not work. In fact I have to date 48 items in inventory and I tried everyone one on the monkey whether it was logical or not just in case - nothing worked. And Mag - I have cage but neglected to fix it. Maybe that will get me the snake - had tried to put the snake in the cage but no luck. So again - back to the drawing board.

I have killed the roped bridge robot, windmill robot and the robot by the lake. WT says after killing the lake robot to kill all the robots in the same way. Where are they? I dont have the empty key to put the crystals in where is that one? I went back to the one I killed with the cannon (the first one) and could not find the empty key anywhere WT says no damaged key so I thought the empty key would be there.

Dutch, the empty key to replace crystals in was in the granite house near Nemo. Just make sure that when you kill each robot that you take his key. You will need the crystals from them. There should have been a robot outside the granite house hiding behind the arch, one that could only be killed with the cannon, one near the rope bridge, one near the windmill and one near the lake. Each one had a crystal key and you needed to take them. You also need to take a couple of their thrusters. I there still a monkey in your way at the back entrance to granite house? If you've still got a snake, use your snake on him or feed him. If you have a screwdrive that you took from the granite house, pop the crystals out of the keys that you took from the defunct robots. Once you get Nemo's key, remove the spent crystals from his key and replace them with the glowing green ones that you have taken

Do need a nudge. Am stuck trying to get maple syrup. For some reason I used the large bamboo someplace else for something and now WT claims should use this bamboo on maple tree. Trying to make cake or alcohol and both call for maple syrup.
Have tried many things on maple tree but no luck so far. Hint hint, nudge nudge:)

DL, Susie is 100% correct. If you haven't made pottery yet you need to do so. Somewhere in your inventory you should have a knife. You will need your knife and pottery bowls many times. Good luck

Will check again but I have both knife and pottery. Have two knives - one rather crude one and one with a handle. When I was trying all 48 items both knives and pottery (fired) were there) and as I recall did not work. Will recheck to see what I might have done wrong. Thanks for responding - keep you posted.

DL, there's a hot spot on the maple tree, quite near the little lizard, stick your knife there and then take a bowl out of inventory and hold it to catch the sap. You should end up with 2 bowls of syrup.

you need to put the crude knife over the wrench in inventory so you can use the knife you get on the maple tree.

Dutch, when you are trying to get the sub one, don't climb the steps up to the top of the sub until you see the robot move to the right, then you can hit him/her when they have their back to you. Good luck

I was aiming too high I was trying to hit it above the green bottom when I aimed for that I killed it. Now am having problems with the code to get into the sub. When I opened the key lock the numbers shown were not 0013 like stated in WT. They were 7258 How do I get them to 0013 so I can get into the sub?

DUH!!!Talk about being dumb I just cant read!!Ok I am at the second door. I put 1860 on top line When I press the number to get the letters the 1860 disappears. I click on the letters for Nautilus and all the lights go green on the bottom. When I click on the number to change to letters all the lights go green on the top. But the door does not open. I dont have any more clay and I cant get off the sub to go get more. Do I really need the clay or can I work around it?

I am way back in the game having problems. I keep losing things in inventory so am asking is there alternative ways to make and use things. Right now I need sufuric acid. I remember getting a bottle but now it is gone so I have used it someway somewhere. Where I picked it up, there is no more of it and have not as yet found a way to make it.
Not sure whether I should give up and just follow a WT and keep inventory items and their use in some kind of order or whether I can continue "doing things my way".
Sure do hate to resort to a WT - am enjoying the game just picking up items and wandering around. When I get stuck trying to do something, I peek at the WT and it says to use something I no longer have, can not find or have problems making more of same. In this case it is sulfuric acid. I have sulphur and tried combining it with various things but so far no luck.
Before the inventory grew to such huge proportions it was not too much of a chore to just try everything. But things are getting quite complicated now and things are flying into combinations of several items so I lose tract of what I was trying to do in the first place. Grrrr
Any suggestions of a way I can better use my time in this game?

Thanks so much Mag. I got the door open but what do I do about the clay I need. Is there some way I can get it?

Dutch, you can leave the sub and go back to the area near where you found Jep and get some more clay.

Tallo Ho : Unless I am going blind, could find no more sulphate at the hut where the monkey was. Been looking everywhere else but can't find sulphate. Any ideas? Can't make the battery without it.

DL, you don't need sulphate to make a battery. You can combine a clean cloth, lemon, some bamboo, silver and copper coins. But there is some sulfur on a shelf at the far dark end of the cave, near where the ladder is to climb down to go to the sub.

Hello Jorja. To make a candle you need seal fat and wicks from the trunk in Granite house. Have fun playing this game.

Sue: I am peeking at a WT and it claims to make the volta battery you need just what you said. However, re the WT - to make the Becquerel Battery you need nitric acid which is made by comining sulfuric acid and saltpeter. Found place where I can get all saltpeter I want but there is no more sulfuric acid on that shelf in the dark room. Remember getting a bottle from there the first time but do not remember what I used it for.
I guess I will have to keep better notes when I combine something with something so I know where things go. I clearly remember that little bottle of sulphuric acid but it is long gone now - wonder what in the world I did with it:)

PS - to Sue. Have been looking for sulphate as I think that is what I could use to make acid - but cannot find suphate either. Tally Ho thought it was in the hut with the monkey and it seems to me I did pick up some there but can no longer find that there either. So until a hint/nudge etc. comes through I just keep wandering around the whole island looking for a place to get some sulphate/sulphuric acid.

DL, If you're trying to make sulfuric acid for ammunitions and can't find any - there are several possibilities for ammunitions. So you don't need it, if you've already used it. Hopefully, you used what you had making nitric acid.

Finally able to make two batteries and got the encyclopedia going. From here have been combining things like mad - some from "thinking guess work" and others from the WT. So off and running at long last.
WT section now involves the cavern with the little lake in it -so off on my own for awhile to wander around and see what kind of trouble I can get into:)
Thanks to all for the hints and nudges thus far.

Hi smitty, Just take the rop ladder. There's a back entrance to the Granite House via the lake (water) area. There's a brick wall that you can use a pickaxe on. You need light there. You will meet the baddie monkey there too.

Looney, Do you have all the ingredients you need to make the Becquerel battery? You will need to combine nitric acid + potash + clay + rods and tubes. Ana

Hi Looney, you need the clay to make the Becquerel battery. The rods are made of zinc so you are all set there. I've played the game 3 times already, I'll be happy to do it again for you! Ana

ok, I surrender...stated this game this morning and have entered the sub...I opened the safe, oped the portholes and placed music score on organ. Assume I am to reproduce said music. Am not musically inclined. Got any saves here?

Sorry, Solver! Monkey and top nest: Open inventory. Select Jeb. Exit inventory. With Jeb on top left of the screen, click on top nest. Nothing will happen for a while. Wait. See an egg drop on the ground and later - a feather will fall down. Pick the feather up.

I am at the safe puzzle in the submarine. A WT tells me to look at the tiny knobs and the arrows on them. The direction of the arrows will tell which way the square will move.
I do not see how this works because in some cases the arrows on the knobs will point either up or down (2 pointing up and 2 down) yet the square block will move sideways.
I have tried to figure out how the squares move according to the arrows but they do not follow the directions much at all. I have had arrows pointing in three directions, yet the square moved in the direction not indicated. Very confusing.
What have I misinterpreted here?

desertlilac,
I made a solve of this already - so just do this:
Label the buttons - top to bottom, left to right:
1-4, 5-8, 9-12 and 13-16.
The numbers in parenthesis are the numbers of times those buttons are to be clicked. 1 (2xs), 2 (3xs), 9 (1x), 13 (1x) 1 (1x), 2 (1x), 3 (1x), 4 (2xs), 8 (1x) 1 (3xs) 11 (2xs), 12 (3xs), 15 (3xs) 16 (3xs), 12 (1x), 8 (1x), 16 (3xs)
Have fun!
