While I found the nag interrupting the weather to be hilarious, I sure hope someone in their tech department got fired for letting that happen. That was REALLY stupid on someone's part - and totally unnecessary.

Might be just a joke on MS re: Win10 push, it was fun to watch. As for MS Pushing Win10, I found that on my computer, my wife's and others that I maintain that MS has not been pushing as hard as they did, one example was when I logged out of Outlook (Hotmail) that there was a Screen Pop up which took my whole screen area, but about 30 days ago they stopped that and all I see now is a small banner at the top of the page, so I think they are slowly getting the message and there has been NO push on any of the computers I deal with to upgrade to W10 Nor any files downloaded on their computers.

Well Mad, either it is a Real sense of humour or a fake one , they have to pretend to laugh at things considering how many National TV Fiascos that happened to them while giving a Demo of their New upcoming product... Do you remember the Win98 fiasco just to name one. And as time goes by even Bill Gates rolled with the punches.. See this video for an example: http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Bill...3&FORM=VIRE

I would imagine it's pretty easy to be amusing, when you feel like it, if you have the comfort of a fortune behind you such as the one Bill Gates ammassed But in acquiring such fortunes, "ruthlessness" so often plays a part and there's nothing remotely comical about that However, I do respect the philanthropy of Bill Gates in more recent times

At least he's doing something positive with his fortune, unlike some others whom shall remain nameless.
I had to laugh when I got a "bribe" from Microsoft this morning! If you use the Bing search engine, you can accumulate points which can be exchanged for different things. I have gotten at least $50 worth of $5 gift certificates to use at Amazon. They offered 100 extra points per month if you upgraded to Windows 10!

One thing you can be sure of is that Microsoft gives nothing away for free. In some way it would help their bottom line if everyone moved from Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10. Paul Thurrott's website reported on May 11, 2016 that a preview build of Windows 10 was prematurely released. https://www.thurrott.com/windows/windows...arlier-expectedToward the bottom of this webpage is a note under "Known Issues" that Symantec products (Norton Antivirus and Norton Internet Security) are triggering blue screens, and a few other minor issues. I would not be too happy if updating my OS caused my antivirus to do that, and if Symantec is affected other antivirus might be affected too. Considering that Microsoft forces Windows 10 updates, and an antivirus is considered a necessity by most people, it seems like this should be illegal. I don't believe that Microsoft could not pull an update that would cause BSOD's by interfering with another company's security product.

I'm in no way defending Microsoft , however , Symantec , or any other software vendor , having compatibility issues with Windows 10 are their problems , not Microsoft . Just for the sake of mentioning , I use Comodo Internet Security with Windows 10 , zero issues .

Do you remember when I said: when I logged out of Outlook (Hotmail) that there was a Screen Pop up which took my whole screen area, but about 30 days ago they stopped that and all I see now is a small banner at the top of the page Well MS must be getting Desperate AGAIN, when I log out of Outlook (Hotmail) I once again get Hit with the Full Page screen to upgrade to Win10 + my wife and I get 2 to 3 monthly Updates regarding files to "Prepare Your OS for Future OS upgrades, which of course I eliminate them before doing the MS upgrades, we do have of course the Never 10 installed as a precaution. Jesus X da Bleep da Bleep MS are you doing this on purpose to make people switch to Apple? Did MS Secretly Buy out Apple? Makes one wonder?

There is NO PLAN to charge for the current free upgrades of Windows 10 if you do it before July 29th!!! You will pay for it when you buy or build a new computer. And yes, if you upgrade after July 29th, you will have to pay for it. There are supposedly some ways to get around that, but I wouldn't count on them working.
Don't listen to the FUD about suddenly getting charged for the free upgrade after July 29th. Microsoft has done some really stupid things, but ever they aren't stupid enough to do that.
And, oldbroad, that's exactlyl right. After the nag - hopefully - stops after July 29th, it will no longer be free! They've made it clear that the free upgrade is available for 1 year and that's it. No surprises there at all.

" I think people are talking about having Windows 10 install without peoples' permission after July 29 -- and being charged for that." That's the impression I got too, Jenny100

All kidding aside, I agree with draclvr and Jenny100, that it is Just Talk and MS would not be foolish enough to try and charge people after the Due date. Although I am somewhat angry with MS approach regarding them trying to push W10 I am still enjoying the MS Operating System since Way back to MS 3 or was it 2.
So yes, they may still send out reminders on how wonderful it would be to have 10, they would never install it and charge you for it, I believe they have spent enough time in court being sued for other stuff in the past that they have learned there lesson. And as mentioned before when I eventually buy a new Lappy, I know I will enjoy W10 just as much as I have enjoyed ALL the other versions I have went through, and yes. that includes Vista once they patched it, it was A-Ok after that.

Personally, I no longer trust Microsoft to not do something really stupid! I totally understand the reason behind this push, but they went a bridge too far for me when they starting forcing the upgrades. But I still can't imagine they would do forced upgrades after July 29 and then try to charge people. But, who knows...

No need to clarify your previous post oldbroad, we knew that, but You Sure Made it fun to talk about it, gave us, or at least Me, something to think about. But again, I really believe that MS would never go that far. And I would like to state again that I personally do not have in general anything against MS, I truly enjoyed the freedom that MS gives to a user to play around with it and that is what got MS into trouble as Evil Hackers got into the game of ruinning for everyone. A good friend of mine asked me when I converted his XP to Win7 he questioned why All of these security warnings, "This is ridiculous" and I answered that MS has to beef up their security system because of these hackers. Note: This was Before the Existence of Win10 and I had told him from what I read and learned that MS will have No choice but to follow the route of Mac and Beef up their security system, and sure enough, along comes W10 and is in a small part a copy of Mac, more security and less choice in "Playing around withing the OS". Why this came all about, too many users complaining about how easy it was to hack the MS OS, so something had to be done, eventually, just like Mac users, people will become used to it and will accept it as long as their machines become more reliable and harder for hackers to break in, and with the Popularity of Macs and increased sales, it will sometime in the near future attack Mac machines and give a break although a little break to MS owners. There is my final 2 cents worth on this topic.

I do feel that some problems occur because some users just don't behave sensibly when using the internet So far, since 1998, by using good and regularly updated anti-virus and firewall programmes and regularly scanning for malware etc etc etc AND not visiting any site willy, nilly without careful consideration, I have never been infected or hacked or anything else and am hoping that stays the case [I am now touching all the wood within reach ]

Like Mad and Draclvr with safe practice and a good A/V, I have had No Problems regarding Virus', Trojans, etc. since 1995, not to say I didn't get the occasional advertising Malware and non threatening Pups since then, but a quick clean made them disappear and I didn't even need to touch wood, as Mad so well said, as long as you use safe practice and surfing you should not encounter any problems, this is even when there were many Alarms that MS has been compromised and Oh, do this and that, never had any problems, just be a bit more careful during this time while MS sends out a patch.
Oops, I said previously that it would be my last post on this but I couldn't resist, please forgive me.
