Have you tried turning the light on in the room? Right after entering the room, turn towards your right and walk, hugging the wall. The lamp is higher up on the wall. My note says, R from D, F 1X, slight L - 1 step walk straight point slightly R. Unfortunately the lamp doesn't stay on long, you should be able to see enough to get to the ax, you can see the holes on each side of you. The way back is harder, I did not take notes, too busy trying not to fall in. It is a matter of aiming at the correct door and taking only one step at a time. After you get the axe, turn to the L, arrow pointing at the R door, Step 1X. Turn L some more, you will be pointing at a hole, L of the doors, step 1X only. Then turn R, pointing at the middle of the doors, go R towards the light, hugging the wall until you reach the exit. This last is from Tally Ho's w/t here on GB, he has screenshots to help, somehow I remember doing something else. Sorry I don't have any of my saves on the computer.
What kind of magic spell to use?

Hi Charward,
Try pulling/pushing all the buttons below. You should get different sentences from all of them but you may still have to do something else. I couldn't get continuous sentences right away. Have you been to the boiler room yet? I think i had to do that first and come back.

I ahve not played the game but it looks like from reading the wt: That you have to be sure that the fluid injected is prepared correctly. Inject it to brain. That you activate the fluid after injecting it by pulling the lever beneath the jar. Then get Brain talking by turning on the power with the button on the left, and flipping the switch at the right until he talks to you. Hope one of the above might trigger something. If not replay again and see what might be shaken loose.

Hi Charwood,
I don't know if I have a save there but will check in the morning and let you know.
I had a hard time there also. I just kept pushing buttons & pulling levers until I finally got it.

Hi Charwood, I have a ton of saves but can't find that one. They're all huge (almost a mb or over one) so I can't send a bunch to let you try them since I have dial-up. Sorry. Try pressing the buttons quickly, pulling the levers and doing it all randomly. That's how I finally got it to work. I hope that helps. Melanie

Charward, did you talk to the librarian, show him the necronomicon, and examine the book he was reading...

Is the librarian standing at the table now, as opposed to sitting like he was before? Once he's standing at the table, you should be able to give him the book. If he is standing, try changing your position. Maybe you're just not standing in the right place.
You can't examine it until after you give it to him.

I hope you were able to move on, Charwood, but just in case, I had another idea.
Did you read the other books in the library? There are several you can pick up and read, but not take. One of them may also trigger something.

Hi Everyone, Tally Ho had to help me there also, Charwood. I was able to get through the tunnel center doors past the gates, but kept going around in circles after that. I love your walkthroughs, Doug, and could never do the wonderful job you do on them! But since you did ask for a little constructive criticism......... I didn't understand which door was the final door to go through in that room. I think your description is great right up to the point of the final door that leads to the next round room. I think the confusion comes from the description of the final door. Since all the doors are triangular, I was confused about what to do after going through the tunnels with the gates in front of them. I think a better description would be 'the door that was facing you when you first entered the round room, behind the green pedestal puzzle' (or something to that effect), rather than calling it the triangular door. I also thought I was in the second round room when I was in the first so mentioning that the door leads to 'another' round room would have helped me. Just some thoughts if you're feeling ambitious enough to amend it and agree. Melanie

Hi Melanie - Thanks for the input. One of the things that makes this segment hard to do is the visibility. (Green on dark green, on darker green) You should have seen me yesterday, trying to get through the doors for Charlotte, with a mouse in one hand, and an unfolded newspaper in the other trying to create enough shade from the afternoon sun on the screen. Not a pretty sight. If anyone had seen me, I would be the next subject for the "caption of the week" contest.
I will take your advice, and while I'm at it, do some experimenting with those 15 buttons on the pedestal. I believe they dictate which doors you must go through, but have never tested the theory. For example, if you could press all the right buttons instead of the center buttons, and if that meant you need to go through all the right-hand doors, it might be easier. The left-hand doors are all in the dark and hard to see. What's worse, is when you return to the pedestal room, and look for the Newly opened one. Playing in a darkened room, it's not too hard to see, but introduce any glare, and you might as well be tapping around with a white cane.
I'll give it a shot after the sun goes down.
