Please Stand By!

I have JUST started this game. Not sure if I will really end up playing it. It is starting out quite miserably!

How is anybody supposed to remember all the rules and what not with the clock ticking away faster than any clock ever?

It's a good game but definitely not one of the easier ones. The chores (laundry and cooking) can be a pain, but I have read that there are ways around having to do them every single day after you get through the first day or two. Offhand I cannot remember what they are now, but I can probably try to find that info for you, if need be. There are a couple of puzzles in the games, though, if I remember correctly, that are related to the chores, so in that sense they can be important.

Well, I did figure out that I should just take my time with the meals and do one plate at a time. Problem is having to write down what I need and then try to read my scribble. Other option is to look at the order a jillion times since I can't remember by the time I go back to the salad bowl or whatever. Haven't made breakfast yet.

Do you know how many save slots there are? I've already saved 12 times. At least it let me save during the shoveling. That helped.

I would prefer a more relaxed atmosphere though.

I don't know how many saved games you are allowed with this game. I usually get about eight going and then start overwriting previous saves, so I have never pushed it further than that. smile

It looks like it is more that 70. My amateur highest saved game is labeled 69. lol

I have a lot because when I play; I save before, during and after a puzzle.
In fact one of our posters who got sent a set of saves "complained" that I make too many saves. It gives him extra work. I got scolded. lol

Well, I'm with you - it's better to be "save" than sorry. grin

Great. Thanks for that info MaG. I know the earlier games didn't have that many and I always had to save over them. I hope I won't need you to send me any but...

I was going along okay after my initial frustration but now I am locked in the Sauna. I've only made 2 attempts of about 5-10 minutes each so far. I am playing in Junior mode. I just don't think they allow enough time. I'm not throwing in the towel just yet but I cannot just keep trying this same puzzle over and over for very long. It is too frustrating so I needed to come and talk.

I would like to know though, does every piece of pipe get used? I have hooked it all up but not using every piece. The time is over so fast that I cannot even keep up with the different directions I am trying.

Also, is there a picture of it in the w/t? (I don't want to look unless I'm ready to use it.)

Yes - all the pipes needs to be used.

Yes - there's a picture in the walkthrough.

Also - there's a skip procedure given by a gamer. Tell us if you want to know that.

OK, thank you MaG.

I'll keep working on it and let you know. I'd rather not "skip" it. Even if I have to look at the picture, I can at least feel I more or less did it myself. We'll see.

I DID IT!!!

I'm bored and ready to go to the walkthrough to finish up this game unless you can peak my interest again. I've been playing 18 hours, most of which has been doing chores.

Nobody has anything new to say to me, nobody in my phone lists, nobody in the lodge, not even Mystico. Ollie keeps telling me I didn't finish cleaning the rooms and putting the bag back out for me but as far as I can tell I've cleaned everything there is to clean.

I asked Tino (or whatever his name is) for a hint regarding the code in the journal. Some of it at the end I still can't figure out but it isn't doing me any good anyway. I don't know how to get into the hideaway. I have the round wolf thing from the skiers room but that's it. I don't know where the bone is. I don't understand what the fire necklace is telling me though I'm assuming it has to do with the door locks since those make no sense to me. None of the different colors seem to do anything different.

I am tired of snowball fights but really enjoy bopping that annoying girl in the face! Can you tell I'm bummed?

Should I just consult the walkthrough?

Are you playing on the Junior/Amateur level? If so, what is presently on your tasklist that hasn't been checked off yet?

I hope I can read my scribble. I'm playing in junior mode.

1) Keep an eye out for the 2 pictures missing from the Trapper Dan exhibit in the lobby.

2) Be on the lookout for the bone that's missing from the plaque in the lobby.

3) Figure out if the note I found in the coat the wolf left for me means anything.

4) Follow the wolf trail and find out what the deal is with that wolf.

5) Decipher the code Trapper Dan used when he wrote stuff in his journal so I can read what's there. (I deciphered MOST of it but the game doesn't know that yet.)

6) Figure out what Trapper Dan meant when he wrote in his journal about using the rope in the vaults to open up a surprise in the stairway to the guest rooms.

See, I haven't gotten anywhere. I am feeling very dumb and down right now.

Thank you for sticking with me!!!

I thought this was one of the most difficult ND games I have played.

If you have the note from the coat, that is your key to getting into the shack/hideaway. Take a close look at that note, as it's a bit abstract.

I thought it might be the number 0512 but that didn't work. I'll go look at/play with it some more.

Thanks Marian.

Marian, I had started going one by one from 0000. By the time I read your reply I was already at 5000 so I just continued with that. Once I hit the right number I was able to see it.

Now, let's see if it gets me moving again or not.

oldbroad, I just want to add, when you get to where you have to play Fox & Geese, if you have problems (as I always do, which that part is what makes me not play this game much) I have a save, sent to me a few years back from Rushes, of that game complete, the save is in Junior mode, so if you get to where you need it, just ask and I can send it right over smile
