I picked this up at GameStop the other day - I remember some of what I did in the original MYST but am stuck at the clock tower. I know that to set the time I have to turn the red wheels...the one on the left sets the minutes and the right one sets the hour...but when I click (once) on the right one the hour hand will not stop at 2 o'clock for me...I have forgotten just how to set the hour...any help would be appreciated.
Also, I have found and read everything I can in the beginning and found the three dates up in the elevator tower (from the library) but cannot figure out where the times come from...I have not found this information anywhere yet...someone please nudge me to it please. Thanks
Love, Betty Lou laugh

I don't recall where the info for the time setting came from but it is definitely 2:40.......I originally used the "hit and miss" method of finding it and don't recall where the info actually should come from. One wheel sets the hour; the other sets the minutes. That's it. Anyway, I'm wondering if you rotate the hour hand all the way around to the two again will it stop there or does it skip over it all the time? laugh

I didn't do it......and if I did I'm not guilty!

Betty -

Have you gotten access to the tower in the library, yet? If not: Spoiler -

Click on the picture with the stairs in the library. Watch the cutscene take place of the bookshelf turning into a set of stairs. When that's done, go to the map on the wall of the library. I can't remember whether it's by the blue or red book. From there, click on the library on the map. Use the hand to rotate the tower to the point of Mechanical Age location book. When that's done, go up into the tower by elevator. You should be able to see two ladders by then. One will show a view of gears sticking out into the air, the other will give you a clue on gaining access to the clock. That's how you obtain the clues for the rest of the access solves. I hope this helps you for the rest of the game. Let us know if you need any more help! wave wave

Betty,

Don't know what's going on with the clock; that hour hand should go anywhere you want it to. But I've never done it in Real Myst.

Use those 3 dates in the viewer at the planetarium. Set it to each one and sketch the constellation it shows you. Take those sketches back to the library to compare with the ones in the book to learn their names. Then go out where the model ship is and turn on those constellations where they appear along-side the model ship. This will raise both it and the real one.

Setting the hour hand on that clock tower is pretty tricky....part of the trick is to 'catch' the hour hand as it is going around and click again to stop it...not so easy to get it to the 2 o'clock position as it may sound...was the same in MYST too. Have moved on to the Mechanical Age and had forgotten just how hard these puzzles are...am now trying to set the 'blind/sound' puzzle and boy is it a doozie...would be nice to have some oil for those rusty gears, they sure do 'grind' when turning...haha
Thanks for the help...I will probably be back later with another SOS.

Now am stuck trying to remember just what needs to be done to set that compass in the Stoneship Age so I can return to Myst Island and insert another page...I checked out all the drawers in the ships (cabin) bedroom and found only one half of a note to Atrus, but could not locate the other half, and cannot seem to get the compass to work right....I am getting a lot of exercise going back and forth to keep that generator charged up - Is not the lighthouse supposed to be lit up more? It does not act like a lighthouse at all. And when looking thru the telescope I see the lighthouse building but nothing is "shining on top" of it...Something seems to be missing or not activating so I must be missing something here. Any suggestions?

Actually, the lighthouse is what you should sight the telescope on. Make a note of its azimuth (the number showing the telescope's direction). Hint: compass.

The other half of that note is in another age; I forget which.

I have the setting from the telescope, aiming it at the lighthouse shows me 135 (degrees) but can't figure out the compass and just how it works, when I zoom in on it there is one arrow but when I push the button it points to it is WRONG then have to go turn crank again and ponder just how the darn thing works! Seem to be getting nowhere...

Betty Lou, I'm not sure what arrow you're seeing but that compass rose has "points" at each of the buttons. You should be able to pick out the main points for N,E,S,W. Starting from north, east is 90

Yes, the other half of the note was in Channelwood. Have finished there and inserted red and blue pages...now trying to finish up the Stoneship Age...got the first musical puzzle no problem...I think I set everything correctly for the sounds (sliders) in the underground tunnel and have turned on all the lighted symbols on the 5 places for them...but having trouble setting the sliders to open the door...is there a picture anywhere available of just where those slide buttons should be? I have tried everything to set them right but the similar sounds just confuse me...need to set 5 sliders - from left to right each slot has 9 sounds from bottom to top, cannot get correct sound for underground tunnel - HELP please! Getting mighty tired of this last puzzle..

Counting the bottom position as # 1, set the slides (left to right) at 5, 1, 9, 4, 3. I believe that is the proper positions. laugh
