This is the second game in the Darkness and Flame series from the developer 5-BN, creator of the Lost Lands series and New York Mysteries games, among others. wave

I just got around to playing this. (I have quite a backlog of games.) I must say, this game is top quality. Excellent graphics. Characters are well done and well voiced. The storyline is well-told and there's a diary that keeps track of the story. Movie quality soundtrack. HOS are unique and interactive. The Strategy Guide button is more easily accessible than on most games. The button is on the top right of the screen. Considering all the CE games I've played lately, I rank this one near the top. Highly recommend. And since the standard version is also now available, no reason to pass it up. yes

I really liked this game too, Sparkle. I have yet to be disappointed with a Five BN game. wave

I like 4BN games, too, Marian. When I saw your post, I went to BF and downloaded a different episode by accident (The Dark Side instead of Missing Memories). Oops! ha ha ha Did you know there are three episodes in this series now, on FB?

Born of Fire
The Dark Side
Missing Memories

Anyway, I played through the whole Demo. Although the graphics were beautifully done and it had a decent story line, it was WAY too easy to be engaging. More a game for a young child. Still, I am going to try the Demo on Missing Memories and see if they've made the puzzles any more challenging on this later episode.

And for those who enjoy them, there are both Morphing and Collectible objects in every scene (in the CE version, of course).

It looks like the games are meant to be played in order, almost like one of those "Chapters" games that are all the rage now. I could see the big event that starts The Dark Side playing out at the end of Missing Memories when I reviewed its trailer today, and the game that starts the series is Born of Fire.

I'm not sure I will play any of these. The childish appearance and voice of the main protagonist is unconvincing for the serious role she is meant to command in the games. It would be like if the young Alicia Silverstone (from the teenage movie, "Clueless") had been cast as Jane Tennison in the BBC crime drama "Prime Suspect." The jarring effect of this throws me right out of the game.

I know what you mean about the main protagonist, but it wasn't enough to put me off playing the games. There is an ongoing story line so it's probably best to play them in order.

I'm showing the order as:

1) Born of Fire
2) Missing Memories
3) The Dark Side

Do I have the order wrong? It seems Reenie is saying The Dark Side comes before Missing Memories.

Thanks.

Ah, I think I may be reading backwards again like earlier today in a different post. crazy

Sorry if the way I wrote what I did confused you, oldbroad. I meant that when you start The Dark Side, you start where Missing Memories ended. In Missing Memories, the game ends with the dam being destroyed. In The Dark Side, our gal and her friends are watching that event end, and then their story resumes in that canyon.

Yeah, after I re-read it that's what I thought Reenie, thus my edit. Thanks.
