Halloween wraps fear in innocence,
As though it were a slightly sour sweet.
Let terror, then, be turned into a treat...

A Jewish man took his Passover lunch to eat outside in the park.
He sat down on a bench and began eating.
A little while later a blind man came by and sat down next to him. Feeling neighborly, the Jewish man passed a sheet of matzo to the blind man.
The blind man handled the matzo for a few minutes, looked puzzled, and finally exclaimed, "Who wrote this stuff?"

Fay Chester was a busy housewife with a demanding husband, six children and a large house. The only relief she got from her chores was the twice-a-week bridge game she shared with a dozen other women. The only flaw in the bridge club relationship was that Fay loved to tell off-color stories and the girls didn't want to hear them.

To teach Fay a lesson, the other women decided that the next time she told an off-color story, they'd just get up, walk out, meet at another home but without Fay.

Sure enough, at the next meeting, Fay started, "You know, girls, there's a rumor going around that a busload of prostitutes will be leaving in the morning for that big gold find up in Alaska, and they say...." Just then, the women all stood up and started for the door. Fay was disconcerted but only for a moment, then she understood what was going on and said, "Hey! Girls! Hold on, hold on! There's plenty of time 'cause the bus doesn't leave till morning!"

It was October and the Indians on a remote reservation asked their new Chief if the coming winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was a Chief in a modern society he had never been taught the old secrets. When he looked at the sky he couldn't tell what the winter was going to be like.

Nevertheless, to be on the safe side he told his tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that the members of the village should collect firewood to be prepared. But being a practical leader, after several days he got an idea. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked, "Is the coming winter going to be cold?"

"It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold," the meteorologist at the weather service responded.

So the Chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more firewood in order to be prepared. A week later he called the National Weather Service again. "Does it still look like it is going to be a very cold winter?"

"Yes," the man at National Weather Service again replied, "it's going to be a very cold winter."

The Chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of firewood they could find. Two weeks later the Chief called the National Weather Service again. "Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?"

"Absolutely," the man replied. "It's looking more and more like it is going to be one of the coldest winters ever."

"How can you be so sure?" the Chief asked.

The weatherman replied, "The Indians are collecting firewood like crazy."

Two men arrive at the Pearly Gates at about the same time, both wanting to know if they will be admitted to heaven. St. Peter asks the first man his name, where he is from, and what he did in life.

The man answers that he is John Smith and that he was a taxi driver in New York City.

St. Peter looks through his book, then gives the man a luxurious silken robe and a golden staff, and bids him welcome into heaven for his eternal reward.

St. Peter then asks the second man the same questions. He replies that his name is Thomas O'Malley, and that he was a Catholic priest in Chicago. St. Peter looks in his book, then gives him a cotton robe and a wooden staff, and bids him to enter into heaven for his eternal reward.

Father O'Malley says, Wait a minute! Why did that taxi driver get a silken robe and golden staff while I, a Catholic Priest and a man of God, got a cotton robe and wooden staff?

St. Peter told him that the rewards in heaven are based on results, and while Father O???Malley preached, people slept, but while John Smith drove, people prayed!

A famous art collector is walking through the city when he notices a mangy

cat lapping milk from a saucer in the doorway of a store and he does a

double take. He recognizes that the saucer is extremely old and very

valuable, so he walks casually into the store and offers to buy the cat
for two dollars.

The storeowner replies "I'm sorry, but the cat isn't for sale.

The collector says, "Please, I need a hungry cat around the house to catch

mice. I'll pay you twenty dollars for that cat."

And the owner says "Sold," and hands over the cat.

The collector continues, "Hey, for the twenty bucks I wonder if you could

throw in that old saucer. The cat's used to eat and it'll save me from

having to get a dish."

And the owner says, "Sorry buddy, but that's my lucky saucer. So far this

week I've sold sixty-eight cats."

A farmer is sitting in the neighborhood bar slowly getting drunk. A man comes in and asks the farmer, “Hey,why

are you sitting here on this beautiful day getting drunk?”

The farmer says, “Some things you just can’t explain.”

“So what happened that is so horrible?” the man asked.

The farmer then decides to try an answer, “Well if you must know, today I was sitting by my cow milking her
.
Just as I got the bucket about full, she took her left leg and kicked it over.”

“That’s not so bad, what’s the big deal?”

The farmer says, “Some things you just can’t explain.”

“So what happened?” the man asked again.

The farmer relenting, continued, “I took her left leg and tied it to the post on the left with some rope. Then I

sat down and continued to milk her. Just as I got the bucket about full she took her right leg and kicked it
over.”

“Again?”

The farmer says, “Some things you just can’t explain.”

“So, what did you do then?” the man asked, intrigued.

“I took her right leg and tied it to the post on the right. I sat back down and continued to milk her, and just

as I got the bucket just about full, the stupid cow knocked over the bucket with her tail.”

“Wow, you must have been pretty upset!” but that’s no reason to just sit here getting all depressed.”

The farmer says, “Some things you just can’t explain.”

“So then what else did you do?” the man asked again.

“Well I didn’t have any more rope, so I took off my belt and tied her tail to the rafter. That’s when my pants

fell down and my wife walked in…”

Happy NFL game day! yay

I hope there'll be some good games to watch. The Cowboys don't play, so at least I won't have to watch them lose another game. razz

If I can't find any good games, or something else to watch, I may be reduced to spending my time on other things, like house cleaning. scared

I'm pretty sure I'll find some games to watch. thumbsup

They don't necessarily have to be that good. wink

Have a happy day everyone. hamster

Cool, crisp morning. Nice. Finished feeding and counting the Outdoorsies. Still all there for today.

Washing towels, someone remind me to put them in the dryer and then to get them out. I ALWAYS forget. Ugh!

Hey there Joe ... there are usually great plays made by both teams during a game and usually the team that made more of those wins ... Dallas can use the Bye Week to rest and recoup

Good morning Gerry and Connie .. I'll have a tall cup of tea and a Danish .. have fun this evening

Drive safe Gail and enjoy your quiet Sunday

Hey Sorta...don't forget to check your towels in the washer to see if they're done

It's music for me when I can and gardening for a bit and then there are always my weekend projects and chores to chip away at.

Happy Sunday everyone

Good morning from sunny and warm Florida. Life is good! I hear we are floating away in Chicago though.

No internet and our portable wi fi isn’t doing too well either so I will be short and quick! My phone gets no signal here in lots of areas.

Have a happy day all!
