b]Myst® IV Revelation Montreal Studio Set to "Reveal" the Next Title in the Myst® Franchise SAN FRANCISCO - April 5, 2004 - Ubisoft, one of the world's largest videogame publishers, today revealed the critically acclaimed and best-selling Myst® franchise will launch its newest adventure, Myst® IV Revelation, this fall. Peter Gabriel, world-renowned recording artist, worked in collaboration with award-winning composer Jack Wall to create the game's immersive and ambient soundtrack. "We are excited to announce Myst IV Revelation and proud that it comes from our own Ubisoft Montreal studios," said Laurent Detoc, president of Ubisoft Inc. " Myst IV Revelation will only add to the strength of the Myst franchise, which continues to lead the Adventure category in critical acclaim, fan following, and sales." Within the visually awe-inspiring world of Myst, a gripping family drama will slowly unfold. A little girl disappears, her two brothers are suspected, and it is clear that their story is far from over. Players will escape into the adventure as they attempt to solve the mystery and discover the fate of the two villainous brothers, Sirrus and Achenar. Understanding their motives is the key to the investigation which will lead to a true "revelation." " Myst IV Revelation will take players into the twisted minds and worlds of two evil brothers, deep inside an intense family drama, and immerse them within a visually stunning environment," said Genevieve Lord, producer at Ubisoft. "The game is simply a 'must-have' for Myst fans and will also appeal to new players. The storyline is very suspenseful, the puzzles are compelling, and the music, produced by Jack Wall in partnership with Peter Gabriel, will create an unparalleled experience." Additional launch details and information will be announced at a later date; however, please feel free to visit http://www.mystrevelation.com
Thanks for sleuthing out the site launch this morning, Jenny. So now the chatter starts up on the next Myst title. 2004 just gets better and better for gamers.

I hope they make it cross platform right up front. It looks like it's going to be good.

What exactly does "launch" mean? Launching is usually the term for starting something that is ongoing, like Uru was supposed to be. Or do they just mean they are "releasing" it then?

It's going to be interesting to see how they deal with the brothers coming back. I was under the impression from MYST that they were, how can I put this...toast! I mean the book holders that their trap books sat on had burn marks on them after Atrus linked back to the library to "take care of something"...
I feel a lot more like I do now, then when I first got here

My thoughts also Trail-Mystic. Will be captivating to see how that story gets opened. Right LoneWolf, Ubi-Soft will "launch" (or release, HURL b : to release, catapult, or send off (a self-propelled object) <launch a rocket>) Myst IV this fall. So I suppose they will "throw" it at us then Thanks Jenny100 - nah the link they provided re-directs itself. I just had the close quote command too close to the URL link. It does something weirrd to it if you don't have a space.

I think a prison book is a link to a place from which they can't return. However, if they had the materials to create a linking book to another place...

Just so you know, there is a puzzle on the site. If you solve it, you get to open the bonus page. Of course, in my "puzzle limited" fashion, someone had to tell me this.
I managed to solve it, though I don't know how. I thought I knew how I did it, but then, when I went to do it again, it didn't work!

The announcement I read said it is about a 'young' Sirrus and Achenar, thay haven't been trapped in the books on Myst Island yet. Maybe it will include some of the dirty deeds they did to poor old Saavedro's family and world. That sound track just gives me the shivers, GOOD shivers.

I hope they don't develop another game that has problems with DVD/CD drives, but one that has no jumping, etc and reverts back to the Myst games that so many of us love!
The answer is....chocolate! Who cares what the question is.....

I always got the impression that a prison book didn't trap one in any specific place, but in a sort of limbo--the "between" of linking books, as it were. So I always thought it might be theoretically possible for a person to escape either through directed intent or mystic chance.
Also, to me the "little girl w/ 2 brothers" and "young sirius and achenar" taken together imply some kind of potential time travel paradox--i.e., perhaps something sirius and achenar did in the past affected the future in such a way, in which case we wouldn;t have to deal with the question of their getting free at all.
Originally posted by wysewomon: some kind of potential time travel paradox That's a really clever idea - something to think about. Also, the little girl, Yeesha? - even as a child she was most likely gifted enough to think outside the D'ni box. Certainly as an adult she accomplished things no other D'ni could do. Is she the one responsible for her brothers being in another game

Hi all, There's a lot of speculation going on at the Myst Revelation forum - Myst Revelation Forum Sorry, it's not hooked up to the Myst Revelation page (yet, we asked for a link to be put there), but there's a link on the Uru site to the Myst Revelation forum. Oh, here's a link to Myst Revelation, which you have already - Myst Revelation Teaser One of the press announcements said, in describing the story, that a little girl is missing, and suspicion falls on her brothers (something like that). I hope that means the little girl is Yeesha. I'd like learn the story after Myst (and Riven and Exile) and before Uru! I'd like to learn more about Yeesha, so we can perhaps understand why she is so, uh, "eccentric", in Uru. Incidentally, I do like her in Uru. As for the brothers being destroyed, Atrus never said he killed them. I'll have to go back and see what his exact words were, in Myst. As long as they aren't gone for good, I assume a fiction twist can bring them back - the books were not destroyed, extra linking books hanging around (for "emergencies"), that sort of thing. Wow. This is nifty.

At the end of RealMyst, the Red & Blue books were well done and crispy. Who's to say the Brothers didn't have another Sister Then again, is it written that the Brothers being discussed are Atrus and Catherine's Sons???

Nope, it's all speculation at this point, I think, Granny.
And that Ti'ana grave in RealMyst was the grave of Atrus's grandmother, who raised him in the cleft...

Too bad they didn't announce a patch for CSI 2 so that those of us with 98,98 SE and ME can play it rather than have it freeze in the very beginning of the game!!

Took a bit, but I did find and solve the puzzle in the Teaser; reminded me of solving a puzzle or two in Rhem. Believe it's called being dense.
From the clips, it does look to be a game worth looking into. Just hope it doesn't turn out to be another Uru.

Just went back again (can't keep away ) to look and listen, and saw at the bottom of the screen "DVD Rom/Mac). So what's this puzzle I have used the bulls-eye several times, and got changes, the screens, and about a third of the video, but haven't seen any photos. Share! Share!

granny, take another look. There are three structures you can freeze, one under each heading at the top of the viewing screen. Freeze them then run your cursor from the picture to the wording at the top, watching the symbols on the left as you do. Figuring out the puzzle allows you to see the bonus.

Have I missed something? I couldn't find the release date. With all the work at this site, it would seem like it's coming soon. Will check the release date list on home page now. Nope...couldn't find it. Was it mentioned in this thread and my brain cells missed it?

How did the sons of people like Atrus and Catherine wind up so rotten? They were occupied with relocating the D'ni and did not pay enough attention to their kids. P.S. Nice wallpaper!

Just because the Linking Books to the boys' prison Ages were toasted at the end of Myst does not that the boys were in any way harmed themselves. And given their grandfather's flair for re-invention of the Art, is there any reason to say that they could not have escaped from their prisons? Eventually. Richard Watson (a.k.a. RAWA) has stated in the past that the prison books, as used in Myst, were actually a kludge used to make the game work, and that there was no such thing as a prison book, per se. Only that should someone find themselves in an Age where there are no materials for making Linking Books, and not being in possession of a pre-existing Linking Book, they could easily be considered to be 'imprisoned'. Who knows... Atrus might have had a change of heart (we all know what a soft touch he is ), and found a way to re-link to those Ages (afterall, he (probably) did Write them in the first place, and we know what a good Writer he is) by re-Writing the Ages' Linking Books from memory - just like someone making a copy of the Linking Book to any other Age, just without the original to hand. I've watched the trailer several times. It looks great. I'm still playing To D'ni. Uru Xpack 2 comes out in June. Then, Myst IV. I won't have to wait YEARS between Myst games. I could seriously get used to this.

I may have to re-play Myst just to get back in the groove.
Hope my copy (ages old) isn't too ugly for XP.
I just finished a re-play of Riven and played Exile for the first time last week. Sure brings back fond memories of Myst.

Yeah, I'm with you Dianne, let's get those guys. I suppose once again I'm going to have to save Atrus's sorry .... ahem self; he owes me more than the "one" he acknowledged at the end of Myst Exile.
