I never really did get to use my old joystick because I found it to be too big for my hands.

I'm back playing Cyberpunk 2077 and there's a lot of driving in the game, with really terrible controls if you're using KB/mouse controls -- as in multiple pileup accidents and spin-o-rama, injured or dead pedestrians, destroyed signs, lamp-posts, and parked cars, followed by high-speed police pursuits usually ending very badly. That's all very amusing, and it's part of the joys of playing this game if you don't mind reloading and were just cruising around Night City looking for trouble, but there are quests that require one to actually be able to steer a vehicle at high speeds.

I went to Amazon to look for one, and the choices are all so confusing now, many of what I would consider basic joysticks are advertised for Flight Sims, and it seems that most oof them don't work on Win 11, Plus, it's impossible to tell how big they are because the description doesn't say. I have very small hands and the last one I had was really too big for me to manage.

I assume that what I'm looking for is a joystick rather than a controller, mostly because I've never tried a controller, but maybe a controller would be better for me?

Anyone have any suggestions?

I have a very nice small controller, but I've just never gotten used to it. You can do a search on Amazon for controllers or joysticks and include Windows 11 in the search. Hopefully, someone is uses these devices will stop by and give you some advice. I think Winfrey was the one who recommended it.

This is the one I have and it is just right for my small hands. Those "buttons" on the bottom turn with your thumb for driving.

Thanks. That one is inexpensive enough to take a chance on it. I might just grab one. It'll be a learning curve, but I have lots of time!

I have an XBOX DAYSTRIKE CAMO I bought it at Walmart on sale for about 45-50 dollars. It’s for smaller hands. My first controller was a Logitech and I loved it. For the price I think I would try that one first. I love my controller it is so much easier for me to play games with. Let us know how you like it🙂

Winfrey, I've thought about a controller for a while. My hands get very sore after a couple of hours of playing because of the position I hold my wrist using a mouse. I've tried one of the ergonomic ones, and it helps, but I still have the problem. This whole business of getting old stinks.

I think a controller might just suit me better if I can work out how to use it. I'll start by trying it out on a game I know very well, like Fallout 4. I can cruise around one of my settlements for a while in safety while I learn the ropes.

EDIT: So, I got my XBox controller (I ordered two to see which one I like better. ) I first started out trying it in my game of Cyberpunk, but that is a bit complex for me to learn on, so I switched to Fallout 4 and then Skyrim. I think Skyrim is a good way to get used to the feel of it. The thing I notice most is how much easier it is on my hands and arms. It'll take me a few days to get used to it, I think.
