Hey, did anyone else notice the similarity between the begining (I didn't get far yet smile ) of Culpa Innata and the begining of The Longest Journey? (Minus the dream part).

1) Both characters have the same dressing style, and short hair.
2) in both games you find yourself in a metro station and you need to buy a card to pass.
3) Both character are living in a world that isn't what they think it is. (I've read the game summery so I know lol ).

What do you think?

Having played both games, I never once thought of Culpa being a ripoff of TLJ. Perhaps as you get further into the game you'll feel more confident that the game is unique.

Happy gaming!

Actually both games are ripoffs of me.

1. I've dressed like that and have had short hair
2. I've bought a pass card in a metro station
3. I'm living in a world that is often different than I think.

I even sleep in my underwear.

Yup. Both these games are definitely ripoffs of me.

Lol, you can't compare your real life to a game. Unlike real life there is only 1 concept for a game, and that concept that was used on TLJ was also used on Culpa (At least thats my first impression. I may be wrong).

I understand what you're trying to say, but I still think that it has some weird similarity between both games.

Sinotek: Having finished Culpa it's really bold statement. Could you Scientifically prove that the game is a rip off and provide necessary evidence?

Jenny100: I am sorry to inform you that you could easily be the rip off of any shakespearean book of your preference. You're female, and there are also females in those books.

metamorphium - Not really, no. It's just an opinion of mine, rather then a statement. I might end up retreating from that opinion after I'll advance in the game. smile

I totally agree on that lol. But it seems as though everyone who played it disagree with me, so I might be wrong. frown

But hey, maybe it'll have an awesome story line just like TLJ.

Sinotek, it has a great story, it has plenty of dialogue, it is a long game (well worth the money spent), in that aspect it matches TLJ. But the stories would be a stretch to try and compare and I think you'll be changing your opinion as you get further along.

I'm sure you're right. smile
All this discussion made me wanna keep playing Culpa. Too bad I won't be able to until tomorrow. frown
I really miss story lines like TLJ. So far, I only found 1 game that had an awesome story line (close to TLJ). It was Indigo Prophecy. Man that was a great game...

P.S: I just found a review for Culpa, but I don't know if it's allowed to show the link for it here, so I won't. But in this review they talk about TLJ as well. Check it out:

Quote:
Now, you may have wondered while reading the first paragraph of this review why I mentioned The Longest Journey. That is because I was among the people expecting a wonderful adventure game saga but sadly saw it deteriorate to a casual console-oriented hybrid. Culpa Innata rekindled this expectation, and with the ending of the game leaving questions unanswered in an X-Files kinda way and doors open to sequel(s), I am dreaming of more and can barely hold myself from p**ing in my pants with anticipation. This is the saga we’ve been waiting for. Thank you Momentum.

The game got +A from them. Pretty impressive. Now I really want to finish it!

There is also a second review on that same site, sinotek. It gives the game score of A and lists quite a number of flaws and a bug, and some are probably renewed in the patch which was made 4 or 5 days ago.

Sinotek, I just read the whole review. They were not comparing stories they were simply talking about the reviewer thinking that TLJ was the best adventure ever and he was saying that this left him with the same feeling. He was in no way comparing the two and saying that Culpa ripped off any content from TLJ.

Too funny rotfl. I just started playing and TLJ crossed my mind in the sense that it too was a game I looked forward to playing and really enjoyed. I just loaded it last night and I am impressed so far. I think this one is bound to be a classic.

Most games have some thing that you can compare to another game .Hope you know what I mean .Its the same as films .We do tend to go for the same .With me detectives fantasy .Some sci fi .If you see a game with some thing in that you can compare to your self .It seems to attract us .Ho I do that or ive done that or would like to do that .Your there you live it as you play it .Thats the the whole idea you are there and as there is so many games now .We are going to get some repeats .

Jenny's underwear is fine! No need to become concerned!

Culpa Innata is not a TLJ ripoff. It's a crime investigation in a futuristic science fiction world.

The difference between TLJ and Culpa Innata is while TLJ took place in a normal world and a magickal world, Culpa Innata takes place in the normal futuristic world. TLJ is about April and the story she experiences, while Culpa Innata is a CSI? type game, set in a futuristic world.

The idea etc. may be somewhat the same, but the design & the story in both games are tremendously apart, I think. Just for comparision the story that J.K. Rowling has told, has been told to us a million times, just like the story about the 'galaxy far far away' has smile The point is that there only seems to be about 7-8 basic stories in the world, it's the design and telling of the story that's different.

Adventure gaming is fun smile

wow the title to the thread had us a little concerned...

Then we got to Jenny´s lifestyle and underwear and felt uhm relieved grin... (knowing her all this time ' Jenny100 herself is worth memorializing in a game hehehe)

But no no rip off of anything in Culpa - though we cheered the comparisons to TLJ´s epic scale story, quality of game etc. Very flattering to be in such great company. (TLJ and Syberia are tweo of my favortie games) Culpa Innata is actually inspired by a book, Schroedinger´s Cat, which is a philosophical projection of what could happen if certain events in todays world go unchanged. smile

Comments are great! Keep em coming!

please smile

Thank you for your report about Jenny's Underwear Becky. We all got worried there for a sec. lol

I found another similarity between TLJ and Culpa! The nightmare part. Phoenix has a nightmare and she only wears her undies! (The begining of TLJ and also in Dreamfall: TLJ).
I'm about half way through in Culpa now, and yeah it's really different from TLJ. It's has a lot of talking in it (CSI style like Karsten said).
But it's still amusing to find similarities between TLJ and Culpa. smile

Gatorlaw, please pass on that this game is absolutely wonderful and I am enjoying it. It seemed like I waited forever for this game to come out when I read the premise and it was well worth the wait.

I must say that at first I found this game kind of boring, but after an hour of playing I really started to get into the storyline. It has some awesome story line twists in it. This game is addicting. I'm getting close to the end now. I hate that part when I finish a good game. I never want it to end. smile

This game is a MUST for everyone who likes good adventure game with an awesome story line!
