Cannot do this-need help.......

Spider Temple How to Set The Box

Walkthrough makes no sense. I dont understand what logical meaning there is between the diagram with the coloured lights flashing, the witches instruction to "rotate" the spiders.what is she talking about rotating the spiders? Plus the woman with the cards-None of this makes any logical sense sick

Hi Michael,

Your game package should contain some extra documents as well as a pack of 3 plastic spiders. The spiders can be used with one of the documents to help you solve the box puzzle.

By speaking to the witch, she will give you three cards in turn, and you should make a note of the symbol on each one.

One of the documents in your game package has a circular decoration with similarly shaped symbols. This is the document you use with the plastic spiders. Place one spider on each of the symbols the witch gives you.

By counting how many coloured flashing orbs there are after completing the orb puzzle, you now know how many spaces to rotate the spiders from their original spots.

Make a note of the new symbols after you have clockwise-rotated the plastic spiders.

Those new symbols can now be entered onto the spider box in your inventory.

luck

I feel the need to say Attaboy (Or girl) to Rushes. I actually knew the answer and was going to respond, but couldn't figure out how to do it so clearly or so well. Great job.

BTW, Michael, Walkthroughs always make sense and the people who do them are sainted geniuses. Without those types I'd still be trying to figure out how to turn on that blasted underwater light in MYST. Walkthrough writers have saved me from fifteen years of depression. wink

If all the people were heroes, there would be no one to watch the parades.

Just wanted to add, that you can do without the plastic spiders (it's too awkward), just click on the new symbols in corresponding spaces as Rushes described. smile

I cannot understand this information

I have not completed the Orb puzzle

I have the symbols from Tara

I have the map in the foyer with the postion of the coloured lights

I have the witch telling me to rotate the flashing orbs two paces clockwise

This is all I have and it is not enough to understand what to do next

EDIT-Correction; Yes I have all the stuff that came in the box

The notebook shows the picture of the symbols

I've moved two paces up from the symbols that Tara gave me

It is of no use

It still does not work
I still need help

The orbs themselves are not rotated. Once you complete the orb puzzle you need to count how many of the orbs are flashing, and that is the number of places you need to rotate each spider on the paper.

Do you have the correct document that came with your gamebox to use here?

If after placing the orbs you cannot see any flashing, then they are not placed correctly. Here is the correct placement:

Click to reveal..
Head: pink
left hand: red
right hand: blue
stomach: green
bottom: yellow

So, for example if you see 3 flashing orbs, then rotate the plastic spiders 3 turns clockwise from their original positions on the paper to obtain the new symbols.

I still need help

The Colours were in the right position

The ones flashing are Heart and Bottom

Yes I have the notebook and the three dead plastic spiders

How am I supposed to know where to position them?

Yes I have Taras directions

I have Symbol 1
Symbol 2
Symbol 3

A spider can move in a trillion different positions

Just because I have the symbols, thats not enough

I dont understand what you mean by position the spiders?

---------------

The Witch has shown me which spiders to rotate. They are the one at the heart and the one at the tail; green and yellow

Tara gives me symbols 1 2 and 3

These are my starting points

On my notebook I look at the diagram of the circle with the symbols

I locate the three symbols Tara gave me on the circular spider map in the notebook

I move each one clockwise two times based on the orb puzzle.

They give me three new symbols

I place these new symbols onto the box in the proper order

I give the box to the spider temple

The spider temple rejects the box with the line
"Nothing Happens"

Is this a glitch in the game?

--------------

Is there someone who can help me with this?

Michael, I merged your three stacked posts. Please use the Edit button if you need to add anything to a recent post and if no-one has posted after you. It helps us save bandwidth. thanks

So you've made it to the spider temple - that's good. From your previous posts I understood you still to be at the witch's house and stuck on the orb puzzle.

If you are getting the message "nothing happens" when you insert the box into the spider mouth, then your box symbols are somehow incorrect.

Some of the symbols on the paper diagram are very similar to each other and you should double check that the symbols the witch gave you exactly match the ones you start with on the diagram.

Also make absolutely sure that the new symbols you have after counting clockwise twice from your original symbols, exactly match the symbols you now have on the spider box.

If you are still having problems then it might help you to go back to a previous save game before the witch's room and replay this part to check all details thoroughly.

All of these details were already in place. I am sure the symbols were precisely what Tara said. I counted precisely two clockwise

1. I tried counting two up for Symbol 2 and 3 (Yellow;Tail and Green;Heart)
2. I tried counting two up for Symbol 1 2 and 3 Nothing
3. I tried counting two up for Symbol 1 Nothing
3. I tried counting two up for Symbol 3 Nothing

I have two flashing colours

They are green and yellow

The symbols Tara gave me are;
1. X (No Circle Impossible to mis-interpret)
2. Symbol above X
3, Diamond Symbol below X

I'm not sure why you are separating out the counting of the symbols like that. think

The first symbol that the witch gave to you: find that symbol on the diagram. Count two symbols clockwise. You have a new symbol. That symbol needs to be found on the spider box in your inventory.
The second symbol from the witch: repeat the action above. Find that symbol on a different slot on the spider box.
The third symbol from the witch: again, repeat the above action, and find the new symbol on the final slot of the spider box.

The spider box now displays the three new symbols.

You mention a diamond symbol - there is another similarly shaped diamond symbol on the diagram. I mixed these two symbols up myself when playing the game, so it's easily done. Double check this.
