I have got a very funny fault on this game and I don't know whats causing it.
The game plays most of the time allright except when sleeping, when you lie down you don't get any sleep menu (sleep till next morning etc ). I tried saving my savegames and reinstalling game and when you start a new game you do get the sleep menu,but when you go back to your savegame you don't, you have to sit and wait till it goes light. can anyone help?

Maybe you're not in a place where it's safe to sleep.

Iv tried in various beds -the pub in korinos-the barn in the mercanaries camp,No I think there is some setting or config someware but I can't find it

Have you played the first Gothic game?
There's a setting described on p. 15 of the game manual where you can go into "Game Settings" and activate "Gothic 1 Controls." It says "for further information on the controls please refer to the Gothic II ReadMe. The ReadMe is probably either on your game disc or installed in the game folder.

tried that but it makes no differance, Im hoping
starting next chapter resets defaults (which again makes no differance)

Found out the answer, initiate "marvin mode".
type "hero export", and the game sends a file to your save folder (you can change your attributes this way as well).Close the game and open this folder
with notepad, at the very bottom you find "sleep mode =0",change the 0 to 1 and save.Start the game ,enter marvin mode
then type "hero import", the game then uses the save file you have just altered. Problem solved
