From Guild Wars 2 Facebook:

Convincing a friend to try Guild Wars 2? Here are ten reasons PvE players will love GW2:

• *Because Curtis’ ranch isn’t going to save itself.*
No, really. If you’re hanging out in Claypool and Cattleman Curtis runs up shouting that bandits will take over his ranch if you don’t help, he’s not kidding. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/dynamic-events/

• *Because this is one of the little dragons.* http://www.flickr.com/photos/arenanet/6945989372/sizes/l/in/photostream/

• *Because that player isn’t coming to steal your kill, he’s coming to make it more epic.*
Cross-profession combos are as easy to create as they are are dangerous. No need to stop, strategize, and debate group dynamics–just go with the flow of battle and enjoy playing with everyone around you! https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/combat/

• *Because dungeons are waiting to bring the pain, and then do it again in a completely different way.* https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/dungeons/

• *Because you don’t have to play through boring stuff to get to the good stuff. We give it to you right out of the gate.* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OO3nTjwpguE&t=5m11s

• *Because you can see how the other half… er, fifth… lives.* All racial zones are open to all players right away, so you can join your friends no matter what race they choose to play. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEdr8HHJ-zU

• *Because everyone loves a big finish.*
Events in GW2 don’t occur in a vacuum, and a series of dynamic events can explode into a final meta event. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1...elevant_count=1

• Because the quaggan are just so cute you want to help them.* http://www.arena.net/blog/the-mostly-harmless-quaggan

• *Because it’s so much more than swinging a sword.*(Or shooting pistols, or firing a flamethrower.) You can cut a swath through the baddies of Tyria, but there’s so much more. Puzzles, trivia, and all manner of non-combat challenges await you all over the world. Keep your eyes open and pay attention to your surroundings–it’s not just window-dressing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rx4UdIpaCWU

• *Because Destiny’s Edge needs you.* http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Destiny's_Edge

Personal story

Every Guild Wars 2 playable characters has their own "personal story". Each of the five playable races has its own starting area and defeating the boss monster in that area is considered to be completing the first step in your character's personal story. NPCs will act as if you and you alone are the big hero. The next two parts of the personal story flow from the answers you gave to the race based questions at character creation. Presumably the third question also has a story line but it was not available in the beta weekends.

The first part of your personal story will consit of 5 "quests" (for lack of a better word). At some point you will have to chose between two different actions, example for human street rat you will have choose to either stop the street gang from poisning the cities water supply making lots of people sick or saving your best friend from the gang. If you put the needs of the many above the needs of the one, you're friend dies. If you save your friend, strangers in your home instance will be ill from the poison. For a human commoner the choice is between saving a hospital or saving an orphanage. One is going to burn down. You can't stop this, you can only choose which one does not burn down. Similar choices have to be made by human nobles and by the other four races, all based on how they answered the first race question.

The second part of your personal story, you guessed it, is based on how you answered the second race question and consists of 4 "quests" and yes at some point you are asked to choose one of two actions to take. Your choice will determine what NPC shows up in your home instance.

As I said, part three probably stems from your answer to the third race question. After that its anyone guess as to what effects the rest of the your story.

Once you make your choice, you're stuck with it, you can't change your mind. Once you complete a section of your personal story its done, its not repeatable. You can quit in the middle of it though and come back later, at the starting point.

If you are defeated in combat during your personal story you have the option to rally at the starting point of this story, and have to walk back to where fight is, or you may quit and try again later.

Its possible to take friends with you so they can see your personal story but only you can choose the next step. A character of the same race that picked the same answers to the character creation questions as you may choose to accept your outcome as theirs so they don't have to repeat this step.

Each segment (quest) of your personal story has a recommend character level. In my opinion they're harder than the developers think and you should add one level.

Thanks Guybrush...I'm going to lock this thread as it is becoming unwieldy and start a new one. wave
