The letters of the answer to the first part of the clue can be transposed to form the answer of the second half of the clue. If you find the first part of the clue is elusive then switch to the second part and work your way backwards

Example: transpose a garment into a tiresome person -> robe - bore

sherlock

All solutions are 4 letter words.

= 1. Transpose a precious stone into inter
= 2. Transpose a raid into a stump
= 3. Transpose one time into an ice cream holder
= 4. Transpose a mammal into perennial tall grass
= 5. Transpose travel into awful
= 6. Transpose bind into lattice
= 7. Transpose a portal into a smell
= 8. Transpose swerve into always
= 9. Transpose a long tube into an oxford
= 10. Transpose a distance into a fruit
