I'm just curious if there's anyone besides me who enjoy watching LPs on youtube?

For those who don't know about this, a Let's Play is basically someone playing through an entire game, providing commentary. For games that I have already completed at least once, I find this to be very enjoyable with the right commentator. I got started with a Realms of the Haunting playthrough some time ago, and have wathced some others since.

Are they dead? Yes. Unlike you they have but one life...and they wasted it for your sake!

I've skimmed through a few playthroughs for old games that I'm never likely to get to play (unless they become available on GOG) just to try & get an idea of what made them so appealing. Otherwise I don't tend to watch anything I've already played or likely to play. smile

Ive watched a few. A lass from Wales called peepcat1 did a couple of adventures: Still Life and And Then There Were None. Really enjoyed them. She has a very easy to listen to voice:-)

I like them, though I prefer the playthroughs with no commentary. Old games that won't play on my computer, games that require more dexterity than I've got, like Assassin's Creed Revelations (Ezio is hot!), adventure games that I don't intend to buy, are what I watch. I watched one just recently that made me glad I'd saved my bucks. wink

Depends on the game and the person who made it.

I've watched some of them. Some are definitely better than others. I don't like "fast plays" where they rush through things or when they click through the reading material too fast to read.

I've used some of them to decide whether or not to seek out a hard-to-find game.

Maybe you could suggest some that have the best commentators.

Jenny, my two favourite LPers are Veriax and Kikoskia. Both play slightly older games, and are quite witty.

These are their channels

Looks intriguing. Kyrandia Book One without having to deal with the maze! I mean, just watching someone ELSE deal with the maze. rah

The maze was simple, so long as you had enough fire berries smile

I must have been fire berry deficient then. I remember wandering endlessly and never made it through.

I like these players a lot -

http://www.youtube.com/user/Dilandau3000?feature=g-u-u is very knowledgeable and always has very interesting information about the games he plays.

http://www.youtube.com/user/Toegoff?feature=g-user-u does blind LPs, and it's fun to watch him work his way through them. He doesn't do as many adventure games as he used to, but he is a big supporter of TSL and Cognition.

http://www.youtube.com/user/RoseErifnosi?feature=g-user-u also does blind LPs, and she really gets into each game she plays. It's always fun to see her reactions.

Thanks Venus.

The first Let's Play I tried that I liked was by a player named MrFlameifrit (or something like that). It was almost like playing the game myself, or with a friend manning the mouse, and he had a charming accent. But I need to check out some of the other players people have recommended.

Venus and I watched The Lost Crown playthrough by CjuGames. He was a lot of fun and very funny. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLA7F7425D288014AB&feature=plcp

I find some hilarious when the game is scary and frustrating when the gamer doesn't see something I can see during playthrogh. I've done a few of them including Anna, which got me involved in the demo.

I just use them when using a written walkthrough doesn't work for me, and I turn the sound down as I hate the commentary.
