All of the answers to the numbered clues begin with the sound of one of the letters shown below. The answer is completed with one of the lettered clues. Note that the lettered clue answer may be a homonym for the actual lettered clue word.

niteowl, almost there. All you need is to name the letter sound from the remaining letters that would complete the answer. Looking at Sondi's answer. "Knee" is the answer for "O" (patella location). She adds the sound of "B" to the beginning to come up with B+knee or Beanie for #6 (Cecil's partner). Clear as mud? slapforehead
