Now available at DesuraHello adult Boomers...Fancy playing something a little darker this Christmas? I'm pleased to announce that sales of The Cat Lady have begun at the official website and Screen 7 :) You can get a DRM free digital download from there and the soundtrack. DVD's are available very soon and we're just waiting on final Desura approval when it will appear there. "A horror story that should be enjoyed for years to come" - Link Dead Gaming "Just finished perhaps the most unique adventure game I've ever played. Simply a remarkable experience." - Nick Wheeler via Twitter The game isn't suitable for under 18's as it has strong adult themes from the offset. But it's a well presented game that treats you like a mature player - it's not tasteless and certainly very gripping. The Cat Lady has been designed and made by Remigiusz Michalski, author of Downfall which was a popular point & click adventure a few years ago. You won't need your mouse this time round as the game features simple keyboard controls to allow a more fluent experience. Now available at Desura There's more information, trailers and a synopsis on the official website: http://www.thecatlady.co.ukDon't forget you can have a go on this and many other new indie adventure games at AdventureX on Dec 15th and 16th in London. Thanks for your support and have a great Christmas! Mark L

Yes! Been following this one closely for awhile, now. Congrats on getting it out the door. This seems as good a place as any to ask: is a client program required to download, install, or run the game, if bought via Desura? Only I've never used them before and would rather not mess with that whole Steam-esque nonsense. Ideally I'd purchase it directly from the devs, but I'm not the biggest fan of PayPal, either. LeBelleRachael: According to the website, the DVD editions will ship worldwide - for free. The download is evidently only 665* megs, though, so... (*So close! )

Thanks for the interest & replies! The Desura edition isn't available yet, and I'm not entirely sure how it's distributed. I've uploaded to them the normal installer, I'm not sure if they send it out as is or turn it into something that requires Desura interface. As soon as that becomes clear I'll let you know. They've not approved the download yet though which is why the game isn't showing on Desura.
The game can be bought worldwide, and so can the DVD's, they'll take about 4 days to ship in the USA and 7-14 days elsewhere in the world. Again though, they're not quite ready. Both DVD's MAY be available from this Friday coming if all goes well.

No problem hamer, I'm a traditionalist too (mouse) but actually found it to be a nice break from tradition, really helps keep the story and puzzles moving. No bias, that's my view as a player :) I just wanted to say it's now available at Desura and if you get time do please vote for the game at the IndieDB Indie of the Year awards Cheers!

So, would anyone care to offer their opinions on Desura? Particularly their policies on DRM (clients/activations, etc.). ;)

Yeah, I may have to do just that; I'm kinda stingy with giving out my email address, is all, especially to "random" companies that I might not even end up buying from. And I was hoping for some general impressions from people who've used the service, in any case. So far, my Google-Fu is yielding contradictory information (unsurprisingly - go, internet!).
Anywhoo. Thanks for the reply.

Hey there,
I've just finished playing this amazing game. I think it's absolutely brilliant.
Whilst not traditional point and click I quickly got used to using the arrow keys to interact and make selections.
It's the story that really makes it though, I found it to be immersive, creepy and memorable.
Another one like Kairo (which I also loved although it's very different to TCL), from an Indie developer that is worth every penny and not to be missed.

Wisewoman, thank you for your kind words about the game! I just wanted to let you and the folks know that it's now possible to get various deals or just individual items from Screen 7. The price of a DVD copy on its own has dropped. Tomorrow (Tue Jan 8th) you may want to stock up on Cat Lady DVD's or other items because there will be big discounts all day! You'll find the info on the official website http://www.TheCatLady.co.uk and at http://www.Screen7.co.uk tomorrow. You may even catch a free copy or two if you're lucky We do appreciate everyone's interest in the game and all the kind words. Thanks to our customers we've been able to approach Steam and so I'd ask you to vote if you have a moment and would like the game to be available on Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=114327732Beyond that happy new year to everyone at Gameboomers and here using the forums. Enjoy it! ML

I've played quite a bit of The Cat Lady now. I agree with ***Karla's review at JA***. Maybe not the A+ grade, but an A or A- with restricted recommendation due to the violent images. The Cat Lady is not a typical horror game or a typical adventure. It's violent in places, with themes of death, madness, dismemberment, and mutilation. Some of it takes place in the character's mind, some in her normal life, and some in a mysterious world in between life and death. There is a lot of dialogue, and not that many puzzles other than figuring out where to go or what to do next. But if you have an interest in psychological horror, it's a great game to play. It is a mature themed game for several reasons. The disc version is DRM-free and you don't need the disc in the drive to play.

Thanks, Jenny100. Those "controls" instructions will be very useful I am hoping to enjoy the game. It will be a change from Fantasy and Fairytale styles

Hi Fellow Boomers. I just finished "The Cat Lady", at least it was only ONE of the endings. I will play through the alternate endings today. This is one of the most fascinating games I've ever played. The graphics and the sounds enhanced this exciting game. I think it was brilliant as to how this was made. I bought it from Desura as a download, and had absolutely NO issues with the installation and the actual playing of the game. I referred to MAG'S two chapter WT,and then relied on a transled WT that was originally in the Dutch language. HAPPY GAMING! Sandy
