With many tears, we have decided now is the time to send our old dog Meramec over the Rainbow Bridge. Last night she didn’t eat at all for the first time. I think she might have an abscessed tooth or something else going on in her mouth on top of everything else. Hubby took her in to the vet late this morning. She’s very thin and the not eating was the final thing for hubby. She’s at least 16 years old, so she’s had a pretty good run for a good doggie. I still remember what a tiny little ball of fluff she was when I picked her up off the freezing cold parking lot down at Meramec State Park after work on the last Friday in February in 1997. I’m sure she is doing her favorite thing right now and running around in the rain with a big plastic sprinkling can in her mouth. Meramec in 2009

Drac, my heart is heavy for you. It's never an easy thing to do, but they depend on us to do what is right for them. Gentle hugs.... Ana

Drac I know how hard it is to make the decision to do what is right for our furry friends and companions. You have my heartfelt sympathy. A beautiful picture of Meramec. She was a lucky pup to have been rescued by you. Take Care. Hugs Gerry

Such a sweet looking dog. Sorry for your loss. I know it's so hard to make those decisions. It's getting crowded at the Rainbow Bridge but they are all happy there.

Aw Drac. I am so sorry to hear this. She was such a sweet dog. I remember when she made the rounds of everyone at the fish fry.
Hugs to you and hubby.
