After reading through a few threads it seems to me some people have a misunderstanding about what Kickstarter is.

The core purpose of Kickstarter is to allow artistic products, inventions, literature and more be evaluated and supported directly by the public. More than just a "voting" system, it skips the middle man and allows the public to choose to directly support projects that would never come to light of day through traditional means.

Kickstarter is much more than a way to gauge interest in a product, it's a pro-active way for people to take direct action and make things actually happen.

If you haven't already, I urge you to visit and check out the many interesting projects on there and learn more about what KS is offering.

While it is true I have a project currently there, this isn't what this post is about. It's too late for my project but I wanted to speak to the people here and try to explain clearly that KS is an amazing way to discover and support amazing projects!

It's critical for people to do more than say they want something, they must show support. Most KS projects offer great rewards in addition to the item they're making. In the case of games, it's about the equivalent of "pre-ordering", often times at big discounts.

So, if you haven't already, please visit the website and check it out, see what's going on. Support your personal tastes and encourage more development from passionate creators! I'm sure once you see the amazing things people are working on you'll want to check back often too!

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

The only thing certain is yesterday.

You make some very valid points Bryan and I have found myself backing projects I wasn't even interested in just to show support. I think that people may warm up to it as they see this is going to be a part of the process of getting the games done. It's also much cheaper in the long run for the gamer.

Thanks Bryan for reassuring us that kickstarter is legitimate.

Interesting thread. I've contributed to maybe half a dozen games that I'm interested in and support.

While I understand that it takes time to develop the game once the goals are reached it still makes me a little antsy anticipating a game that I've basically paid for in advance that may not arrive on my computer until an unspecified time.

It kind of compares to a kid wanting Christmas to arrrive and it being only May or July.

An example is Cognition where the announced date for episode 2 is now Jan 31 and I keep wondering "will it actually come to fruation on that date or will there be another unforseen delay?"

Just some input from a players point of view.

That said, I totally support the concept and it allows us players access to games that we would otherwise never see. The waiting time is just something we have to suffer. lol crazy
