Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes. I had a great day. The only thing that could make it better, was hearing from the great GBoomer's family out there. Thanks again.. thracia

Hi and thanks to all for your thoughts and wishes for me. I grew up with birthdays being a big deal. No matter the age or whether family was in relatively good spirits or not, birthdays were acknowledged with cake gifts ,etc. Long story short, with both parents in heaven and now divorced, my birthday was, sadly, bittersweet. My birthday this year is a milestone; I turned 60 and it hit me hard as to how different my life is now than I thought it would be. So I allowed myself to tell a few of my closer female friends at work for which I received hugs, a spontaneous round of the birthday song, and later, a gift of a small bag of whit chocolate truffles. My boss, a nice young man also gave me a little gift. That all helped some yet I still felt very alone. My therapist call to check on me and I assured her I wasn't planning to do anything stupid because I'm still looking for a permanent place to live and won't be satisfied with how my life is going until I'm living comfortably on my own with no one to compromise with or suggest anything, unless I call and ask for it. Then, this morning, just as I was about to head out to get some groceries, I remembered my other family, YOU. Between looking for a place live and coming home from work too tired to do anything else but play, play, play, I haven't taken time to stop in here for a while. Glad I remembered!
Life's a puzzle; one piece at a time.

Hi blutterflybabe. Glad you dropped in. As we know not all days are good, but all birthdays are special! Funny, never thought about it before, but I can't remember any celebration for any birthday when I was growing up. Strange. It sounds as though you had a nice celebration at work, nice group of friends! I'm sure you will do just fine living on your own, and doing what you want when you want. I myself love to look at homes, that's going to be fun I think. Sounds like a new adventure may be just what you need, so be positive and enjoy this adventure that you are about to journey on. If I lived close to you I would like to help you find that special home. Keep in touch and let us know how the hunt is going. Take care and be well, Terri

Thanks, SB, my self-therapy lately is to look for and name at least one good thing about the day and usually I can; but that day hit me harder than I expected. As I told a coworker, now I know what is meant by 'feeling alone even in a crowd'. I'm still happy to be me and am enjoying the good food I bought for myself yest. Terri, that's a very sweet offer and if I lived near you, I'd let ya help me. Thankfully, I am worker with a realtor whom I met several years ago via a women's group. She's been a realtor for over 30 yrs and she's good. Hardest part for me is knowing what I want. Never bought a place just for me before. We started last summer then had to put it off until now. She's constantly checking the listings and by Thurs of each week, she tries to have a game plan of a few places to see every Friday. Some she's not seen herself so it's info for her also. I hope and pray to find a place and be moved by the Fall, Present accommodations are ok yet I'm still restricted because it's not mine to change anything. I'm just very glad the winter is done and summer is here. Put the heavy coats an stuff away and took out the shorts!

Girl, pick me, pick me, I can tell you what I want, I mean help you decided what you want! Seriously, that really sounds like fun. I figure you must have some idea what you like and I bet when you come across it, you will know immediately. And if you're any kind of handy, you can probably do somethings around the house to spruce it up. Let us know when you find a place. I'm wanting to buy a house in Central America, my husband thinks I'm crazy. Not a problem, since he doesn't want to move there. He can hold down the fort here. Oh yeah, I know exactly what it's like to be alone in a group or when just one or two people are around. I live in my own world so guess it's not a problem. Good thing that I like myself. lol Take care and smile, Terri
