Quote:
Dear Big Fish Community,

Over the years, our forums have been one of the key ways we communicate with you, and have served as an integral source for game-play help. We have always strived to provide you with the best experience possible, and we value your input and dialogue. Unfortunately, our current forums just haven’t been meeting our expectations of providing a first-rate customer experience.

Recent attempts to upgrade our forums highlighted certain critical issues that cannot be resolved forcing us to abandon the new solution, and we simply cannot continue to sustain our current forums while also maintaining a positive customer experience.

As you may know, our current forums have been unstable for quite some time. In order to shore up and scale our existing forums, we have made the difficult decision to remove Chit Chat Corner and other general forums in order to maintain a very critical forums service – the game forums. We will continue to create, support, and maintain our game-specific forums so you will have continued access to game hints and tips from both Big Fish and other players.

Beginning Tuesday, August 13th at 3:30pm PST, our forums will enter maintenance mode so we can modify our service and address key technical and performance issues. When the maintenance is complete, the game forums will return but all other general forums will have been retired. We estimate the maintenance period may last several days.

We’re committed to providing great games and great game-related experiences. We invite you to complete this survey and let us know what type of community engagement and social sharing you’d like to see in the future. Additionally, we encourage you to visit a dedicated news and forums site at Game Boomers if you would like to participate in their forums community.

We appreciate your support and understanding.

Sincerely,
The Big Fish Team

I'm sure there will be many who will be disappointed. But understand the need to provide for the basic purpose of the site.

I am trying to get used to a new forum. I can fully understand our Big Fish doing what they have to do so that we can continue to have our game reviews but am curious as to whether or not we will be able to peer help some stuck fishies.
Also is "Live Chat" CS going to come back soon?

welcome to GameBoomers, yowzasma.

The game forums are going to continue at Big Fish and I imagine that folks will be able to help one another there. You can always ask for help here too if you get stuck (which happens to all of us from time to time). smile

I haven't heard as to when Live Chat will be back up and running, but I would think it won't be too long before it's available. And I would be happy to post here and let you know when I see that it is available again. wave

I think is good to trim things down a bit-BUT what I really wish they'd do is TRIM the awful Game Manager 'App'. Just have one that doesn't take up 1/2 your screen(even when you've used the arrows top/bottom to shrink it a bit(a VERY tiny bit) when you want to use another program but still keep an eye on your game download progress(which is never consistant-and with the newest version, slower than ever). Just give me a GM without telling me about the other games or 'specials'-get rid of that annoying page hogging 'For New Members' pop-up- just a GM that shows the que and progress, and also shows the other games you have downloaded at that time to play. Period.! Don't need it hogging my pc's resources. If need to know about other games just go to the website...whenever without having to need it in the game manager!. In the que where you're downloading they started loading it up with graphics of games that keep changing while you're trying to get your game downloaded...so when they had that I had to click on each one of those until there were no more-that helped a bit with the less time downloading-but they still run them on the bottom of the regular Games you've got downloaded to play screen. Don't need that.
Now they've also got 'Streaming' or whatever it's called now-Instant Play?--don't need it on the GM-the info is at the WEBSITE. I don't need a WEBSITE for a GM.! I'm probably the only person that has been bothered by this stuff but it's a real problem for me....and with this newest GM and all it's new additions AND sever games not completing their downloads/intalling/activating...and taking forever...and then (after having played the demo fine -once it got downloaded...)the full game won't run correctly-this may be a deal breaker for me to continue using BF. Which will really bite.-for me. because almost every game in the past few years since i have been a memeber has been enjoyable (i like them creepy!). I am wondering if they need to develop another GM-in other words have one for PC and one for Mobiles. I don't play games on anything except my pc/laptop. just use the mobile for txt and voice-too expensive othrwise for me for anything else....
SO--maybe while they're trimming the Forums they can TRIM THE GAME MANAGER!-and while I'm at it..those Collector editions- and then later the same game as a SE offered as a 'New Game', it's not, it's the same Game-just without that extra music or screen savers, etc. I wish they'd have the FULL game (the regular game AND the 'Bonus Play" as a game-this if someone wants the Extras associated with that game have them available-in a seperate pkg to pay for and download. -again, less hogging on whatever device you're going to use-

Gamenut, I am sorry you do not like the game manager but the most efficient way is to have one GM that covers everything and you can choose to use whatever features you like and ignore those you do not. They have in the past made old versions available if someone asks them for it, but I do not know if they are still offering that. Please contact them here for assistance.

Have a happy day!

I basically only go to the forums for game tips, so that doesn't bother me.

There are going to be a lot of upset people because of BF's decision. They won't care why it's done, only that it's done. They will feel BF doesn't care about their customers simply because BF no longer has a general forum. They won't consider that the forum BF provided was at BF's expense, and it was up to BF whether or not the forum continued.

Forums are a nice place to visit, if run properly. But if they can no longer be maintained, they can no longer be maintained. And it's no slight on any customer who does business with that site.

I do feel for the Mods at BF, though, because it's going to be a nightmare at first. They'll have to constantly remind people the game threads aren't general forums and topics must stick to the threads title.

The excellent Customer Service they provide is the most important aspect for BigFish to retain, in my opinion praise

Running a Games Forum as well is a bonus !! yes

Agreed Mad. The only thing they are closing is their non-game chit chat forum. This enables them to focus on things game-related which is really what it's all about anyways.

Thank you BrownEyedTigre ,Mad & Homer6 smile
I'm with Big Fish also smile
+ I'm getting used to the new GM and sort of liking it ! Have bought games using it , even using the pcc and sale codes. It is convenient to be able to look up my purchased games without going to my account smile BUT, geee I wish BF would put a little check box of some sort next to each game so we could mark it played or not :/

I'm with the others. I use the forums for game help and never got into word forums or chitchat. I am very glad to see the game forums separate because it was getting where you couldn't find any help or hints. They also have the best customer service of any business I have dealt with., I have been with BFG for many years and wouldn't change. I'm sorry others felt the they had to leave.

As expected, most of the comments on the Big Fish FB page express anger with BFG for "taking away" the CC forum and suggest that BFG doesn't care about their loyal customers. This makes me sad. BFG is one of the best online businesses I've dealt with. Any time I've had a complaint about a game, it was resolved to my full satisfaction. And that's all I expect - good products, fair prices, and good customer service. I hope some of these folks take the advice that was given to sign on with GameBoomers. Might help them to lighten up on BFG a bit. smile

Or, alternatively, let them first visit one of the many truly BAD sites there are out there before coming to a fantastic one like Gameboomers and then they might come to realise just how good BigFish is snicker

Is anyone else having a problem getting on the BigFish web site? All of a sudden I am getting the "we are down for maintenance" slide with Felix in a hardhat again. It was fine earlier today because I downloaded the new Awakening game. Curious.

welcome to GameBoomers, Yolanded.

We have one forum on GameBoomers that is roughly the equivalent of Chit Chat, and that forum is Mixed Bag. Folks can chat in Mixed Bag about non-game-related topics. wave

Bernie! Haha-nope still not a fan of new 'app'. would like to see a stripped down version-I get quite a few games so mainly I look at Today's game-check the Forum on it to see if any tech issues - read reviews and that's about it - sometimes a walkthrough. Don't want to see info about other games in the app(most not interested in to begin with)-Just would like to pick my game and download it. My laptop just doesn't need more stuff using up resources it or I don't need. I do understand that others with different devices or whatever may really like the new app and that's fine-just sometimes 'less is more'.
HOWEVER-I Do like Big Fish. Like their games and when had an issue with a game not running (think in over 4yrs there've been 2, maybe 3 only) they were good to give credit. Just have an issue with the new App (also didn't like the previous GM for same reasons). I have heard from several others that also feel the same way-maybe they'll come out with another version without all the extra stuff that people can get instead of only this current one.

Hi Gamenut - agreed! BFG is second to none when it comes to customer service etc. I must say I haven't really taken a lot of notice of the Game Manager. I suppose so long as it does its job downloading that is what matters! thumbsup wave

They posted them on Facebook, but I am hopeful that the updates will be posted elsewhere also for those who do not use Facebook.

This week the two CEs are supposed to be Twilight Phenomena: Strange Menagerie from ERS and Fearful Tales: Hansel and Gretel from Eipix, barring last-minute changes. wave

That all very interesting. It's probably good BFG closed their CCC forum since it's probable there will be many not happy with the changes. But businesses have to make decisions that keep them viable.

Thanks, BrownEyedTigre smile

Hopefully, despite all the restructuring etc, BigFish won't move away from the "Games for PC" market.

The recent layoffs and forum have me wondering how Big Fish is doing. You haven't been able to order a CD copy of purchased games for a while now, so I'm wondering if anyone has figured out a way to maintain backups of their games another way. I've purchased hundreds in the games in the last few years, and I know there are others who purchase a lot more than me. I would be more than a little ticked off if I were to lose access to those games for whatever reason. My computer certainly doesn't have to the capacity for me to store all the games on my hard drive.

There is no reason to be worried about BigFish. They are a very proactive company as opposed to reactive which will ensure their continued success.

Most companies end up going under because they wait until they are doing poorly before adjusting how they do business and then it's generally too late. BigFish continually accesses what works and what doesn't before it can sink them.

I would not worry about the games you purchased.

Yes, what Ana said. I'm not worried about a company like Big Fish. However, there are ways to backup your games. I believe there is a subject on that down in the Glitches forum. You might try doing a search there.

Even though I understand the steps taken, I still resent having a gag put over my mouth. Communicating with other members was not only helpful, but fun.

There are hundreds of choices on the web to chit chat and form groups which many of them did. They are not a social media outlet, they are a gaming portal and for every one poster that kept things lite and for fun, there were ten that were using it as a soapbox to bite the hand that feeds them. I was surprised it was kept running as long as it was.

BigFish continues to offer the best games, deals and customer service and that is and should be their main focus.

Why would you need back up copies of the games you buy when you can just redownload them from Big Fish? You just click on "My Account" then "Purchase History".

Currently Playing:
Adventure Game: Broken Age
Darkside: Star Wars: The Old Republic

You can't re-download games from a company that goes under. That was what gmm80 was concerned about.

This also applies to anything that's purchased but not in the purchaser's hand.

I think our FB like button (bottom of frame) is for the whole thread. I haven't tested it though.
