A few thoughts to get you going again if you're at a standstill.
Logical deduction identifies the locations of letters FGLNOPY and are shown on the original post.
I would look at #8 and #9 due to the repeat letters in both 8 and 9 as well as the known letters in #9.
The knowns for #9 are: FLLOO with three unknowns that are single letters. Two of the unknowns are shared with "volleyball". Compare shares of knowns/unknowns with other solves.
The letter counts for #8 should be a clue to it's answer. It has two L's and two other double letters and is 8 letters long. Three of the unknowns are shared with "volleyball".
Similar logic using word lengths, letter patterns, known letter and unknown letter shares can be used to solve other clues.
