BrownEyedTiger's comment in the Sparklies thread we can wait for whatever you can come up with. reminded me of a letter to Santa written by my sister, Sue, when she was young. Dear Santa, I will be happy with whatever you bring me. Susan We have gotten a lot of mileage out of that letter over the years and Sue has good naturedly put up with our teasing, but (although we never say it aloud) it helps to also remind us to keep some perspective around the Christmas season. Please share any of your own Christmas Stories that you would like.
Bob As I've grown older, I've found that my memory is not as good as I used to think it was.

I saw a great Xmas story on ESPN one time of two brothers who were professional football players. On Christmas day one of the brothers picked up their mother to go to dinner. He pulled his car over on the way to the restaurant with car trouble and asked his Mother to go up to the house they were parked in front of and ask if she could use the phone to call his brother to pick them up. She knocked on the door and her son opened the door and said " Welcome home Mom." The brothers had purchased the house for their Mother.
It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

Not exactly a Christmas story but I think it fits here so here it goes.
Years ago I was watching a beauty pagent on television that I believe was being held in New York City. It came down to the end where they ask the finalists their one question and this girls question was "What have you missed out on by being raised in such a small town?" Her answer was something like this " Where I come from you would never think of passing someone on the street and not saying hello. Sure where I come from is small but everyone in my town is family. To give you an example when I was eight years old lightning struck our barn and it burned down. There were fifty three people who lived in our town and the neighbors organized a Barn Raising Party. One hundred and thirty two people from towns all over the area showed up and built us a new barn. So my answer is not only am I proud to be from a small town but I don't believe I have missed out on anything."
It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

I was in a K-Mart store several years ago. The public bathrooms are located next to Layaway. As I came out of the bathroom, I noticed a poor woman in a threadbare coat and old tennis shoes standing at the counter trying to retrieve her lay-away purchases. It was obvious she was buying clothes and toys for several children. The clerk announced she was $40 short and must decide whether to return toys or clothes. Before the woman could make such a difficult choice, I reached in my pocket and pulled out two twenty dollar bills and tossed them on the counter. I said "Merry Christmas" and quickly walked away while both their mouths were still hanging open. The good feeling I received was worth way more than $40. To this day, I always carry several twenties in my pocket at Christmas time just in case I get the opportunity to recapture that feeling again.
