Hi Uncle Reg,
I haven't heard of this problem before.
Can you give an example of the exe files that do this?
I found
***this*** with a Google search.
Unfortunately the original poster did not follow up with whether the solution worked.
Only Windows Server 2008 Sp1, Vista gold, Sp1, Sp2 modes are available. Is there a way to get back Windows 95, 98/ME, XP, 2003 modes???
I would like to suggest you perform the following steps to troubleshoot this issue.
1. Navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers].
2. Create a new String Value in the right pane, and name it with the full path of the program’s exe file.
3. Modify the full path of the program’s exe file with the following Compatibility Mode Date value.
Windows 95 Mode WIN95
Windows 98 / Windows Me Mode WIN98
Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5) Mode NT4SP5
Windows 2000 WIN2000
Windows XP (Service Pack 2) Mode WINXPSP2
Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1) WINSRV03SP1
Does it work?
Regards,
Arthur Li
